Well, this is unfortunate:

Sony Edits Wikipedia, Downplaying Halo 3 Graphics

I'm betting the dude was canned pretty quickly, as I'm sure Sony would prefer to keep out of this. And yes, I'd be just as pissed if someone from Bungie did this for some other Sony title... Leave it to the fanboys, not the actual programmers.
I love how the fanboys have pounced on this, declaring that Sony is out to discredit Microsoft. But you can't prove that. The man who edited the Halo 3 page was one man, and could very well have been a Sony fanboy himself. Yes, he made the edits from a SCEE computer, but there's nothing to say he was instructed to do so or that Sony conspired to "cleverly" edit the Wikipedia page. Yet the 360 fanboys point to this like a smoking gun. Guys, last time somebody did that, we indaved Iraq. In hindsight, that might not have been the best conclusion to jump to.

With a lack of Legendary Edition stock coming to the UK, who else other then me will have no problems getting the Legendary Edition delivered.

We pre-ordered 2 of the regular editions a long time ago. I dont care for the helmet and all the other stuff. I just want the game. They could just put the game in a paper sleeve and I would be happy.
I also just finished reading and watching the entire Halo story on xboxlive.com. BigC24 has videos and everything for all the stories. I finally understand most of it now. Its in the first 3 posts of this thread. The entire Halo story summary
It includes
1. Halo: Fall of Reach (Novel)
2. Halo: Combat Evolved
3. Halo: First Strike (Novel)
4. Halo 2
5. Halo: Ghosts of Onyx (Novel)

Nathan Fillion is in Halo 3 as the voice of a Marine! (You can hear him at about 0:35 into the GC07 Singleplayer campaign video.)

Anybody who knows who knows who Nathan Fillion is knows this is mroe than enough reason to buy Halo 3. That is all.

[/fanboy]

Yeah, the dude from Two Guys and a Girl, right? He's supposed to be on Desperate Housewives this season as well...

IMO, the only guest voice I'm really looking forward to is David Cross, a) because he is awesome, b) because I loved his character in Halo 2, c) because he is awesome.

...God forbid the That 70's Show kids show-up again...

What would make this even more awesome is if you see a Firefly go by in the background in a space shot.

Really? Your first connection was Two Guys and a Girl? Followed by Desperate Housewives? You lose all geek status, hand over your game consoles and sci-fi DVDs.

I really think you just wanted to avoid the obvious.

Just in case:

Nathan Fillion should always have immediate association with Firefly and Serenity first and foremost. Then after that you should have to work your way through Drive and maybe even Slither before you think of his upcoming guest role on Desperate Housewives. Heck, I haven't seen it yet and I put White Noise 2 before Housewives.

Dr. Tobias Funke, analrapist.

Odd, two guest voices that had their best roles ever shot down by Fox.

I was joking a bit, but no worries... Two Guys and a Girl is what made me aware of who he was all those years ago...

(IMO, its all better than remembering him for Drive)

There's probably a lack because no one wants to spend $70 for a stupid helmet you can't even remotely wear.

I have the Collector's Edition on Reserve and should have it by the 26th.

But that's just FOX. They pressure Joss Whedon (God) and Tim Minear (God's right-hand man) to create these new shows, and then axe them when they don't instantly shoot to the top of the ratings list. Never mind that Firefly was the single best show to ever grace our screens (and hopefully do so again in the not-too-distant future) and that Drive offered something new and original; FOX killed them because they weren't getting the same ratings as House (which very nearly got itself axed and only survived on word-of-mouth). FOX then goes and keeps the rights to the shows to prevent anyone else from picking them up and running with them and getting something successful. They want to have their cake and eat it too.

But, back on topic, it's awesome that Nathan Fillion is doing voicework in Halo 3. I think I've already said that, but I don't care. It's still fact.

I havent changed my gamerpic since Test Drive Unlimited came out and had the 67 Fastback GT500 Mustang. However, with the excitement of Halo 3 just around the corner I couldnt resist grabbing a free Best Buy Halo 3 gamerpic and system blades. I dont think I have ever been this excited about a game in my life. :)

Which reminds me; I need to get my pre-order, or just get in line at Best Buy anyway...

Choice quotes from Q&A
http://interviews.teamxbox.com/xbox/...cements-QA/p2/

On team size and difference between Halo 2 and 3
Chris Gossett: The Halo 2 Stat features on Bungie.net were the result of what I would call a skunk works proof of concept. About two or three engineers started working on Bungie.net after Halo 2 released to manufacturing and spent around two weeks developing features for it. Several of the major features were desktop applications that were converted for use on the web.

For Halo 3 the team working on Bungie.net is about double the size and planning started last year. We’ve been designing/developing the Halo 3 features for about four months with a dedicated team of people. We have far more features than ever before and since the team is dedicated we’ll keep working on Bungie.net and be adding even more.

On Campaign tracking
Chris Gossett: Campaign is a competitive multiplayer experience now, thanks to co-op, Skulls and Campaign Scoring, so this is not only a natural extension of our existing functionality, it’s a vital component of the game’s longevity. Achievements are just the icing on the cake.

On Rating System
Chris Gossett: We recognized early on that with a lot of file types you can’t see how good something is simply by looking at it on the web. For example, that Rocket Baseball variant sounds cool in the description, but I can’t give it an accurate rating until I’ve played it. So we’ve allowed you to either copy the file to your own share or queue the file for download directly to your Xbox 360. When you come back to Bungie.net you’ll be able to boost the rating in multiple ways. First, if the file is in your share, you can post it to special forums that only contain files of that type. People can then comment on or discuss the file. Second, we have a simple one to five rating system that also factors into popularity. Anyone can give a rating, so it weighs in a bit less, but still a quick way to see what kind of activity a file has. Third, the act of downloading and using the file also factors in. So if you really like something download it, share it and use it.

On UNSC vs Covenant Tracking
Chris Gossett: We wanted to create a sense of the UNSC against the Covenant and display the sheer scale of what our marketing wonks call the “Halo Nation.” The most interesting and addicting way we could think to do that is with raw real-time numbers. I don’t know exactly how large some of the counts will be, but I think it is cool that we can show you exactly how many Banshees were destroyed online today, yesterday and in the life of Halo 3.

There are some multiplayer community stats as well, but right now the ‘ticker’ focuses on the campaign.

On Glory Shot
Chris Gossett: Thanks to Saved Films, you can get to a moment in the game where you stick someone’s helmet with a Plasma Nade. Pose the camera just right and frame advance until it’s perfect. Save a screenshot from the Saved Films UI and that’s a Glory Shot. All the more powerful when you email it to your victim with a derisive caption.

On Flagging Content For Automatic Download
Chris Gossett: From Bungie.net you’ll be able to download anything provided you have an Xbox Live enabled Windows live ID (that’s the same email and password you used to create your Gamertag on Xbox Live) and have viewed or used your Halo 3 file share on your Xbox 360. Once you sign-in to Bungie.net every file that is available for download will have a link that will add it to your download queue. We limit the queue to 8 items at any one time, but you can sign-in to your Xbox 360 and the items in the queue will begin downloading.

On Aggregate stats
Chris Gossett: One of the things that was lacking on Bungie.net with Halo 2 was the aggregate stats experience. This time around you will have a Service Record and you’ll be able savor every medal earned and every kill scored in matchmaking. You will indeed be able to filter the data based on map, game type, and kills vs. deaths.

On Future Upgrades to Bungie.net
Chris Gossett: This is one thing that we are very aware of. We plan on someday having a robust stats API for our community. However, on day one there won’t be much support beyond the existing RSS feeds. Eventually, we will expose the right amount of data to the right people and give them useful tools. So, sit tight.

On Other Developers And If They Will Follow
Chris Gossett: I can’t speak for other studios, but we think that the Halo experience should be accessible and easy to use from anywhere. The exciting social nature of the game doesn’t have to stop when you turn off your console. We admire sites like Blizzard’s but they have a distinct advantage over us – folks play the game on the same machine they browse the web with. We wanted to give people that kind of seamless connection with their game experience.

OMG seriously just when I didnt think Halo 3 could get any better! How did they get all of that content into one game???!!!! That is awesome! It keeps track of EVERYTHING you do, every kill, every gun you use, just unbelievable!!! 👍👍

This is going to be awesome for stat-whores like my friends and I can occasionally be. We can FINALLY know if I'm better than my brother, if I can even begin to compare to Karl, etc.

This is all going to be so awesome!

Did anyone see the commercial with all the toy soldier looking marines and brutes then the MC being held up (seemingly dead) by the brute?

Here is the video I was talking about that shows how it saves a video from every single game you play online. Then you can rewind, pause, fast foward and rotate around the entire video. This is also on the xboxlive marketplace for free.
Halo 3 Vidoc: Cinema Paradiso

Let me tell you how things went down today.

I was minding my own business this afternoon when I watched the video that Camaroboy just posted. Now, it's 5pm and I just got back from pre-ordering the game. Just as a reference, I've never pre-ordered a game in my life before this.

That is next generation. Just imagine the possibilities for pro gaming or just competitive games on live, and the future of all online games to come. Thanks for sharing, don't think we have this on the UK marketplace.

I feel what you're saying Zrow - I've never gone to a midnight launch but will probably go for Halo 3.

I pre-ordered mine earlier this afternoon, and the guy at Best Buy seems to think that they aren't doing a midnight release. Odd.... Because everywhere else seems to be doing it (except Target).

And yes, while it sucks to get it at Best Buy, its close to my job on the way home, so I can leave work and just get in line...

Best Buy has typically not done midnight releases here in Wisconsin. In fact, I have yet to see them do one ever.

They did one for Halo 2. They did one for the release of the X360, Wii and PS3. They even did stuff for Madden 08, I believe...

I'm going to call on Monday to make sure, otherwise, it kinda sucks that I've got to wait pretty much an entire day to play it after I pick it up that Tuesday afternoon.

I pre-ordered mine from Best Buy, as I can't get mine at midnight either way - I have an exam Tuesday mornin'. Actually, picking up Halo 3 is gonna be my reward to myself after I finish all the stuff I have due. Meaning I have to do it all this weekend. :(

Well I found out on the internet that there is only one Best Buy doing a midnight release here in Michigan... And its in Troy. And if you ask me, Troy = suck, so I'm not going. So, I'll pick it up before class on Tuesday, go to Chemistry and not pay any attention, race home to play the first level, go to World in Crisis, and then race back home to play more of the game.

I took both Tuesday and Wednesday off, so I should have plenty of time to play, given that they are both my least-busy class days of the week.

I wish this game had come out in June so I could have actually had time to play it more - the beginning of my semester ain't the most opportune time.
