I will be buying this for sure.

The Halo 3 Mythic map pack will be available to everyone on April 9th for 800 points.

I actually just traded Halo 3 on Goozex. What game should I get now?

I just bought a 360 pretty much for this game. So far, its a blast.
So far I can't see how I could get tired of this game.

If you ever want a partner for the 4 player co-op campaign, let me know. I never get sick of the co-op campaign. I have completed over 189 co-op campaign levels.
Not sure if you know but you can check ALL of your stats on http://www.bungie.net/Stats/.

Anyone else other than me already have the Mythic maps? They're pretty fun except for the fact that I keep getting matched up with people that are way out of my skill level. I'm not that great of a player to begin with but can at least generally hold my own on the regular maps.

Anyway, I'm guessing that when Mythic maps get wide release the matchmaking will even out more.

Actually I didn't know about that. I've only owned my 360 for a little over a week. So I'm still exploring whats out there for the games and such.

Unfortunately, at the moment, I'm going to have to start overin Halo 3. For ever what reason when I created my live account, it created a second account. Same name and set up, but one account has live, and the other has my achievements.

I may take you up on that when I upgrade to gold.
Right now I'm only a silver live member. I haven't had a chance to go to Costco to get the 13 for 40 upagrade card.

I think many people have done that, I'd played half of Fable 2 when it first came out, collected a few hundred gamerpoints then made an XBL account and realised I had to start over :ouch:
Stuck a 48 hour trial on the first account though and had a friend help me transfer any goodies over to the new character though, so nothing too difficult to work around :D
Just sucks that nothing can be done in a similar way for Halo 3! If anyone needs a Co-Op Campaign partner I'd be interested as long as it doesn't lag (past experience with an Aussie did, but that's further than the US) as I've not done it before and would especially be interested if it's in Legendary!

If you made your Live account through your actual console as opposed to other ways such as xbox.com, you should get a 1 month gold trial (which should work for the first 3 accounts that you make on your console.) Unless you bought your console used...?

I didn't. I created my silver acount on line, which is where I believe I made my mistake.

I don't know if they still offer that. there was no mention of it on the box.

Worst online matchmaking EVER.
Enjoy your wait, have a book handy.

Fortunately, I have a feeling a good chunk of my time is gonna be spent playing Horde with five of my friends. And hey, there's a whole new campaign to play.

Yeah, the free trial only works if you create your account through your console... I made that mistake too but had a friend alert me before I actually started playing any games. Lost my original gamertag but no big deal.

Mythic Map Pack available now 800 ms points ($10.00)

This is easily one of the best map packs they have put out. Well worth the purchase. There are also 3 hidden skulls in this DLC. 1 for each map. The attention to detail in these is very impressive. You can tell they truly put some effort into these.

Sandbox in Forge mode is insane. Its 3 massive stories high including a sky arena and an underground arena that you can make anything you want on. You can be in the upper level way in the sky shooting down at the people under the ground. It will be interresting to see what Bungie does with this level in the matchmaking since its an entire forge level.

Assembly reminds me a lot of Midship from Halo 2 which is a good thing. Its a nice small chaotic map with lots of action.

Orbital is a huge map with a lot of detail and long tunnels which creates a lot of battle rifle and sniper battles.

Finally went gold recently and made my way into the Matchmaking area.

And in my first match in basic I was picked apart by what sounded like a band of 7 year olds who pretty much lit me up every time I turned around. I think I took out 1 or 2 of them the entire round. Talk about discouraging.

But things got better, and I graduated from basic and began hanging out in social and ranked areas. I have had a couple good rounds, and a few I would like to forget. Like the time the entire team I was on bailed in the final round of territories. (P.s. HATE this game)

But so far I can’t seem to get the one achievement that I have been shooting for since I started in the social arena.

I have been trying to get the “Mongoose Mow down” achievement since starting, and while I have had a couple close runs where I have winged someone, I have never scored a kill. The main reason I have been gunning for this is to get the Scout arm guards.

Any Halo players out there in GTP willing to take the hit? I can offer the same for anyone else out there looking to get the achievement.

PS: I also do not like Territories and thats why most people veto that gametype.

Glad you are giving matchmaking a shot. I have also got 2-3 other new people into this game recently and the start is always rough. It helps a lot getting with friends. But if you dont have friends then I highly suggest this to avoid the verbal abuse.

You have 3 extremely easy options to avoid verbal abuse by jerks in Halo 3. At least in Halo 3 you have these options. In most other games you have to put up with it or take your headset off. Halo 3 did an excellent job to help deal with these people.

1. DO NOT STAY IN THE POST GAME LOBBY. There is no reason at all for you to stay in the post game lobby EVER. As soon as the game ends hit the B button and your party will automatically come with you. I never sat in the game lobby in Halo 2 and I never sit in the game lobby in Halo 3.

2. There is also the option where you can go to your settings tab and click "Voice and communications" to "Team and party only". This means no matter what you will never hear the other team.

3. Mute. Halo 3 has the fastest mute feature than any game out there. Even during the game you can just hold the back button down then click X on any player you want instantly muted.

You can add me if you want and we can play sometime. I recommend starting in social slayer or rumble pit just to get used to the maps and the controls. Also if up close fighting, always remember to follow everything with a melee. Its a lot but hopefully this info helps. :)

PS: I also dont like Territories. Thats why most people veto it. Also dont try to hard for mongoose mowdown. I dont even have that one. Its very difficult to get.

Thanks Camaroboy69. I'll probably add you the next time I'm on. I like working with players that can bring up my game.

The taunts don't get to me. I just thought I would fair better than I did agains't little kids when I first started out.

Just keep in mind we all have our good and bad games. I have been playing the Halo matchmaking online since Halo 2 and I still have really bad and really good games. Once you get with friends that can help you learn the ropes, then you will do a lot better. But it really does take time to figure out the maps, the weapons, and how to attack everyone. Eventually you will learn to watch for your enemies weapons. If they have a close range weapon, back up. If they have a long range weapon, dont walk out into the open where they can kill you. You will get better each time you play, especially if you play with friends.

Heh, I got ripped apart in basic training and the first couple of days of social slayer too, until I got used to everything and learned strategies, etc. That's why my k/d ratio is still so terrible even though I've improved since I started.

Also keep in mind that there are a LOT of experienced players out there that just start over on new accounts (mostly just to rip apart "n00bs"), so matchmaking isn't always perfect at the beginning. I made a new account recently to see how true this was and my first day was terrible, it wasn't until I got up to sergeant ranking that I started having games as they should be.

I kind of expected to have good and bad games. I'm not to worried about that. I just can't wait to have a few more good games that bad. One of my best games was in team slayer where I was picking people off with a sniper rifle from a distance on Valhalla untill I was ganged up on by 3 members of the opposing team. I managed to take 2 off as they charged me. The final guy got me, but not before I lobbed a granade that ended up taking him out.

I noticed during basic training that there were some players that were . . . shall we say . . . above the learning curve. 0 exp, 0 achievements or progress in the game but still had an uncanny ability to sight in on me and take me out time after time.

Heathers brother in law wanted Halo 3 so as a surprise I bought it off of one of my friends on my friends list that doesnt play the game anymore. It came in yesterday and we gave her brother in law the game today. He and his wife were so thankful and excited. Cant wait to play with them this weekend.
We will be on late friday night for sure for some Halo 3 action online. You are more than welcome to join. That will be 2-3 new people to Halo 3 so it should be a great time showing everyone the helpful hints and watching their excitement as they get medals. :)👍
Plus you have a Mustang so you and my gf should get along just fine. I forgot you also only live about 3 hours from us.

Sure, I can probably make some time for that.
Just PM me with an approx time and as long as I don't have Daddy duty, I'll be there.

I can always use some battlefield tips.

It will probably be around 10:30-11:00PM est. As long as its going well we will probably be on until 3-4 AM est.

Just like I said above, Halo 3 just added a sky varient for the Sandbox map. It is called "Cubed".
Its the sky varient of Sandbox and I finally saw it for the first time last night. I knew they would eventually add a sky map and its nice to see they added one already. Great map design and its nice to see a sky map in there now. That means threre are now 6 total different map types in the Mythic Map Pack. 👍

I've been getting into Halo 3 lately, quite good fun on multiplayer (except when me and my mates get stuck in a yank game - it's almost impossible to get a kill because of the lag...haha). My Rambo attitude really needs to be curbed though, for some reason I always seem to forget that when I get killed the other team gets a point.

I jumped into the Mythic brawl this weekend since it was a double exp weekend.

I was slaughtered!!!

Seemend that every game I entered I was the lowest ranking player by a long shot.
I think one game contained 3 Generals and many other officers.

It wasn't pretty.

That happened to me the first few times I did Mythic maps too... I was hoping it'd even out by now (I got Mythic way back when it was only available with LE Halo Wars) but apparently not! I haven't gone back there yet. I'm just starting to get back into playing Halo in general, I started again the other day after a couple months' absence and I'm a bit rusty.
