Hardest License Test?

Sorry, but I disagree. The Nissan is a great car; controls well and IMO is very responsive. I really enjoy that test, maybe getting gold on IA-16 (? the Le Sarthe II test) has helped plus I know the Le Sarthe circuit really well from 24hrs Le Mans.

I didnt find any hard except S-12. The rest were just learn the course and car, then gold. But i was stuck on S-12 for 70min. about 30min more than any other test.

Ive yet to gold any CB, that being said ive never tryed them.

Is it just me or are GT4's licenses way easier to gold, silver, bronze then GT3.

Charmonix took ages, so did the nissan on le sarthe, its soo hard to control the car.

Chamonix on S license wasn't so bad, in fact considering I am not a good driver I managed to Gold both the IA test and S license test by over a second and by accident!

I struggled to get the car round both stages although managed to Gold them on the first couple of complete laps.

As far as the rally licenses go, it's amazing how much better my times got when I used manual transmission instead of automatic. Even with the R2 thing, automatic sucks, especially on rally tracks. Manual helped my car to slide and get better traction, since I chose which gear to put the car in whenever I wanted. If anyone's struggling with those little 30 second rally licenses, don't use automatic, especially if you're trying to get gold.

At the moment I find it hard to get gold on the test with the BMW M3 on twinring motegi last corner before start finish, I am very close to the gold time, but after 1/2 hour trying I skipped to another hard test. With the BMW 1 on Tsukuba, I am close to gold here too, but after trying and trying I cant get a good raceline at the last corner.

Does anyone have tips on those 2 tests?

I managed to Gold the BMW 1 on Tsukuba by tirelessly doing it over and over. Hit R3 to show the racing line and follow it, only ease off on the acceleration on the first corner then approaching the last slam on the brakes at 84mph and use the analog stick to apply about 2/3rds power as you round the corner.

I watched the demonstration and was dismayed to see my ghost inside the demo car only for it to randomly accelerate better about 50ft off the line :ouch: Those last few hundredths of a second were hard to attain.

Edit: I was beat to it, but it doesn't hurt if you read my post anyway

Simple. Press R3 while you're racing those two license tests (same goes with all A and B licenses) and it shows you the proper racing line, braking points, etc.

Any other license tests (IB, IA, S) see the demo run, press select, R1, and square twice (for display mode) to see the proper race line.

So far... the Coffee Break on IB.

So here is a question, I transfered my A and B licenses from GT3, so I took the IB license tests quickly and got bronze on all. And I won a car for doing it. Now, I understand you get a different car whether you get bronze, silver, or Gold. So If I go back to the IB and get all silver, do I get another car? If so, if you get all gold right out of the box, do you get all three cars at once?

If you only Bronzed the license test and replay it and get Gold straight away, you will recieve 2 cars. You can't get the Bronze prize car twice.

If you've only transferred your GT3 data, you still have to take the tests and get Bronze, Silver, or Gold to get a prize car / cars.

Thanx for the answer. 👍

what is the biggest margin anyone here has gotten gold by without cheating??
my best is 16 seconds at IA-15 at the nurburgring in the 190E

S-14. Ugh. Chamonix in a Peugeot 205. It has terminal understeer, and I find that with a minute to go until the Bronze time, I still have the nastiest section of hairpins to go ... any advice, guys (and girls)?

wallride! :sly:

I wish I could help you, but I gave up on the ice rallies. I had no problem golding most other license tests, but this one I just gave up on. I'm not even sure whether or not I can gold this thing without cheating though, as I have never tried.

I don't want Gold, Bronze is enough for now ...

bronze shouldn't be too tough. I did that without cheating. Hmm... just make sure you're going slow around those tight corners and it's very important to know when to go full throttle and how much pressure to put on the gas pedal coming out of corners. Once you get that down, bronze should be a piece of cake. I got close silver without cheating, but gold seemed a little out of reach.

I don't seem to be as legendary as some of you guys

I've managed to silver all of the licences tests up to S except IA-15, I hate the Nurburgring and I've had enough of going around it time after time, worst thing is I'm only 0.2xx seconds off silver :ouch:

And in all honesty, the hardest test to silver for me so far is the first cone slalom one, it drove me nuts.

80 silvers will make me happy though, I have neither the time, skill nor patience to try and get gold...

Yes, I don't have near enough patience for the Nurb either. I remember how impatient I'd become doing the 25-Lap Nurburgring in the 1000 Miles! series with muh '67 Cougar.

How many people here have secured golds in every license, using a controller?

I bought a Nascar wheel and pedals because it was cheap but that IB braking turn(Tiburon) keeps coming up silver, or I can't steer because the pedals are always on full acceleration and I end up on the grass. Can you human possibly do this with a controller or is there a real advantage to what wheel/pedals you have for license tests?

71 golds here.

All with DS2. All except a few were with auto gears.

I have silver on the following:

IB

2x cone slaloms
Hong Kong
Citta D'Aria

IA

Nurb

S

Viper at El Capitan
Nissan at Suzuka
Citta D'Aria
Nurb

Most of these will be gold soon.

I used manual gears for the mini at Tsukuba, Audi at Deep Forest, all tests at Citta D'Aria, Nissan at Le Sarthe and the accelerate and brake tests.

I believe Famine uses a DS2 and he would have 80 gold.

I have 77 gold all with the hand controller.
Still to gold S12, S15 and S16.
My progress has stopped due to the PS2 dying.
It has been sent back to Sony under warranty and is expected back in 2-3 weeks.
To keep my hand in I fired up GT2 in the PS1 and currently have 45 golds in the license tests in a week.

I have all licenses in gold, auto gears and my DS2. BTW, the hardest license test is IMO the one on trial mountain with the R32 Skyline. Took me hours of practice to get in gold, and I had the same problem with this test when it ws in GT3. Even complete laps on the Nurb did not take me more attempts than that crappy one.

I am up to 78 Golds with DS2 + auto. I haven't played for about a week due to travel but Ihope to finish off this weekend. I have SS5 and the 'ring to do. I was very close to S16 gold when I was just completing the S test first time round but I want to leave that test until last.

SS5 was giving me grief, kept getting within 0.5 secs but the gold was still elusive, I really do not like this test and at 2-3 hours has already taken longer than any other.

If you want to cheat wall ride the last corner. I did this when trying to gold but on my gold run I missed the racing line that allows you to wallride and somehow turned the thing allowing me to accelerate fairly for the line. (You need to go to the wall very early to do it otherwise you will fail).

To do it legit - all I can say is brake early, turn in early and don't be afraid to coast. Hairpins must be taken tight but accelerate early out of them.

This took me about 2 hours. Strangely enough I have never seen a video of a gold run here. Most videos always appear to be at least 1 sec under gold time ie people make sure they post a very good time for license. Is it the case that no one has managed that feat for this test ?

I assume you have used the ghost to help you ? Do you know where you are losing time ?

I used DS2, auto but held the gears for the straights although from memory the rev limiter is not far past the redline. I tried manual but did not find any time in doing so.

Today I passed both cone slaloms (using DFP - can't imagine being able to do it with a DS2 but that goes for most of the tests) - I had though it would never happen.

Two things that stood out for both tests:
- launch is very important: hold revs at 4500 until exactly when you get the green light (floor it with TCS, easier without).
- try to take the same line for the initial cones as you will use for the rest of the test - it is easy to keep a tighter line for the first 4 sets but I think this does not help. Once you have worked out the rythm it seems to all fall into place. As with a lot of these tests it seems easy once you have passed.

I found the second test much easier than the first - I had two bronzes this morning - silvered the first then got fed up trying for gold so though I had better try the next one (having done all the work sorting launch and line). Passed it on my 4th clean run. Then went back and after another 30-40 (at least) tries got the first one

One of the harder ones. You MUST slow down in time for the tight turns. Too late on the brakes and you spin or crash. Also, feather the throttle coming out of those tight turns, too much gas and you spin. On the pavement part, again slow down for the turns in plenty of time. If you find yourself still slowing down, hoping you don't crash, as you pass the apex, then you're braking too late. The tunnel is quick, the turn after the tunnel is quicker than it looks, and the double left over the last paved bridge is best done as a single sweeping turn, but the line for that is very narrow (but quick). As you get on the ice, those first two tight turns are (pun warning) glacially slow, then the course opens up over the first icy bridge. After that, it's knowing what's next, and slowing down in time. Also, be aware that this one has very sensitive walls; almost any scrape will fail the test.

I am on 71 golds and need to improve my time on S12 by 0.085secs to gold that. This is after many attempts. I now know what I need to do to gold it but find it difficult to do. The tight hairpin and the right/left near the end of the lap are where I lost time on my +0.085sec lap. Time wise it has taken me longer to do this than any other test so far.

I also struggled with the other tests / missions at Suzuka.

I must also say that I am disappointed in most JGTC cars I have driven. And B-spec Bob agrees. The only one I have had success with so far is the Castrol Tom's Supra.

And in A-spec I would say that the Nissan Z is the worst of the bunch. I know others will not agree so maybe I am just a crap driver.
