Hey, all. I was just wondering if anyone has this game for next-gen, and has any comments about how it is.

I'm intrigued by the idea of free-roaming the entire school, and would probably use the game more as a "virtual tour of Hogwarts" than actually playing the game.

I've read a few online reviews, but they all seem to cut and paste between the next-gen versions, and I'm curious to know if there are any variations between the two. We've seen some pretty nasty ports, and since I'm leaning towards the PS3 version, I want to make sure that it doesn't suffer any problems from the port (otherwise, I'll get the 360 version, which I believe is the "native" next-gen version).

So, what's the consensus?

I've generally heard bad things about the game. The animations are poor in game and during cut scenes, there are only six combat spells and six non combat spells which are all cast using the right analog stick. The Wii has the advantage as you use the Wiimote for casting the spells which makes things a bit more interesting. The PS3 version also uses it motion technology for spells but apparently it's not as good as the Wii.

The missions in the game focus on finding things and helping other Hogwarts students. There is very little combat during the game and when it does happen it's not brilliant. As you mentioned you can free roam Hogwarts but there isn't that much to do. Apparently it's very big but can become tiresome after travelling backwards and forwards.

What they need to do is create a MMORPG. That would be good. You could start off as a student and have to attend Hogwarts, then you could leave to become a full wizard. There is loads of potential with the game but most film adaptations are always rubbish.
