Has anyone lost interest in this game?

I really hope that GT5 would be way better than the footage I see around posted and way better than GT5P. If that's the case I'm absolutely intersted. For now I'm concerned if GT5 can fulfill what some fans out there are expecting.

To be honest, i would probably be perfectly satisfied if i wasn't reading this forum, to GT5 being nothing more than Prologue with more cars and tracks.
Interest is always there but the excitement is a bit on and off these days.
When i read about a possible new feature added or just think about interior view on all 950-1000 cars i do tend to get excited an therefor impatient.
So i just try to be on a muted mode with the wait still looking long and hope it will live up to all the anticipation, but as i said before it doesn't take that much to make me happy.:)

Have I lost interest in GT5, no, but I have bought a 360 and Forza 3 this week, and fully expect to hear about Forza 4 details before GT5 is released.

Not at all. If I have enough budget leftover I would get myself a g25/g27 and most likely order a special wheelstand or build a cheap one. Patience is a great value to have.

Not lost interest but I am getting really frustrated there isn't even a date to use as a light at the end of the tunnel.

As long as we had a concrete date I would be happy, even if it was December. At least its something to work towards.

Not having anything just leaves everyone in limbo.

Forza 3 sold really really bad. It sold that bad that they might stop the franchise

The people who have lost interest in GT5 probably don't still post to or read a GT5 based message board so the way I see it this is a pretty ridiculous question to be asking here. But no, I haven't lost interest.

Edit: Seen some people complaining that GT5 is going to release too near the end of PS3 development cycle. The fact is that Sony have a 10 year cycle planned which means it's PS3 till 2015-16. I somewhat expect us to get GT6 very late in the cycle (mid-late 2014 is my guess), maintaining the 2 GT games per Playstation era trend. If this seems unlikely please consider that brand new PS2 games are still being released today.

As for Forza possibly ending as cobraagent90 suggests above, that would be very sad... While I personally haven't played Forza since the 1st release it would be sad to see fans lose their series and ultimately negative for GT because console based competition would likely push PD to take their work to the highest possible level. Companies sometimes get lazy when they are the only thing going, and for console based sims there are few other options with the size and scope of GT or Forza.

One thing I can guarantee will never be said about Kazunori or Polyphony Digital, is that they are lazy and have quit pushing themselves. Just look at GT4, which had almost no competition whatsoever. ;)

Because I have yet to despise the automobile as an entity, my interest for Gran Turismo is still growing despite a lack of information regarding... anything concrete really.

Luckily you are far from right!

It has sold well over 2 million to date, that's more then enough to be a financial success, it's more then Killzone 2 for example, and it's enough I'm sure to continue it's development.

However, nothing can rival GT, and I don't think anyone could follow PD in sales success, there is something about GT that makes it appeal to people that probably don't even like car games, they just have to have it...

I don't think T10 could do anything to garner that sort of support, even if they did a GT5 me-too, it'd still probably only sell half GT's numbers..

I have lost a lot of interest in GT5, which I am fully expecting to 'found' again at E3, but in the mean time, I'm very happy playing FM3 and entering lots of racing events with it, so I can 'wait' now until GT5 comes along, no matter how long it takes.

1:1 with what? Reality? If so, puh'lease, give us a break. It's good, but not that good.

I'll also clarify that it IS a game - of the racing/driving genre. The sub category of "sim racer" vs "arcade racer" is irrelevant really, because nothing will change the fact that it is a game made to be played on a games console.

the driving in GT5 is closed to the reality but not all the time 1:1 sure, but its a sim
i mean the cars ,the in and exterior of the cars are 1:1 ...
i hate questions like this ,sry but its just a stupid question...

or some other people say the never ending game or anything like this ,omg do you think PD is sitting there and drinking coffee? they are working all the time to make the best game ever if you dont want to wait go and play nfs lol

In your previous post you said EVERYTHING IS 1:1.
Tokyodrift asked to explain and you did in a way that contradicted yourself.
Your previous post was even more ridiculous. Telling someone to go play NFS if they, god forbid, lost a bit of interest in a game they were supposed to be playing 2 years ago.

The reason many are impatient or just tired of waiting is because they know GT5 is something special and no NFS game will be a substitute.
We were all expecting it to have arrived by now, not implying PD isn't working hard, but it doesn't change the fact we still have to wait.

And what does that have to do with anything? (Other than serve to exercise a stereotype...)

GT5 could be the first decent console racer to actually be a sim, in which case the distinction "sim vs. arcade" is null, since GT5 would be doing both.
