I am thinking about buying this collectors pack. But it seems to be coming from Asia... The benefits though is that it comes with everything in a normal collector pack comes with, but 6 additional "stealth" cars totaling in 11 vehicle vouchers, and its only 75$.

Has anyone purchased from here before: http://www.renchi.com/renchi/PS3_Games_Asia_Gran_Turismo_5_GT5_Collector_s_Pack_2nd_Edition_AS.htm

Its $95.00 there... I guess its imported games.. Im from the US in Florida so will this work with my PS3 and be in English?

Well the DLC will only work if you have an account from the same region as the game, so that isn't much of an advantage.

Ok, thanks, that just cleared that up heh.

Do I understand this right? You already bought one game, spent quite some money for a good but flawed GT game and are now thinking about buying an additional version because of 11 cars for 75$?? Thats almost 7$ per car.

Well it's your money but for me this sounds quite crazy.

I am crazy, and I love this game despite the flaws. Don't flame me for being a geek about this. If I can't share that info here where can I? Your on a Gran Turismo dedicated forum, I'm not the only crazy person here.

Edit: Sorry OP i now realize he was talking to you. :D

Yeah repsent us GT crazy fans.

I wasn't saying that this game deserves no love, damn I'm playing it about 2-3 hours per day myself. I was just questioning the need to buy the same game twice because of 6 additional cars.

I didn't know there was a second edition... I bought the Collector's Edition, but unfortunately I lost the sheet with the redeem code. I still get stuck into the Apex book though.

I bought the Collectors Edition to get a chance at winning a SLS, unfortunately my PS3 broke just before the competition started :-(

I don't trust it. It says 'region free' and there is no such thing for games. It has to be NTSC or PAL or the likeness due to TV formatting... there is no 'universal' format for games.. I smell BS.

All PS3 games are region free!

Only issue you would have are the codes would be region locked to Asia, I downloaded the chromeline cars from japan over Xmas but they wouldn't work on my Japaneseanese account :(

The disc will be fine tho

For a lot of people this is their recreation. It's actually a pretty small sum to pay for the amount of hours you will spend with it. I spent an extra $60 to get the 5 stealths that I have....I drop more than that on dinner at a restaurant.

Plus $ is relative to how much you have/make. What some people consider "a lot" is chump change to some people. I was at a client's house one morning, and in the morning when he woke up he decided he wanted to buy a new boat, just on a whim (he already has one thats only a few years old) he left the house and came back 3 hours later with a brand new boat and trailer. The setup (I know a little about boats) was about $60,000...he paid cash (actual paper money, I didn't even know you could withdraw that amount, unless he had it in a safety deposit box or something) He said the marina called the owner as they weren't sure what to do in that situation.

I clean windows for a living, his house is $1k a visit. He does it twice a year, sometimes 3 if a bird manages to crap on a window. One time I handed him the bill and to pay me he went into the clothes hamper, pulled out his cargo shorts from the previous day, pulled a wad of cash out of the pocket, counted out ten $100 bills, handed it to me and stuck the rest in his pocket.

You can't take your money with you when your gone, the only thing it's good for is spending now.

Damn that collectors edition - I convinced myself I didn't need it and I was wrong, oh so wrong...

Jup I know such people. A friend of mine did his driving licence and did some practice hours with his parents, however in my country there is an hp limit of 250 hp to do the private practice hours, so his father went and bought a new car just for his practice. I wish I needn't care about money like that, but that's just a dream for 99.9% of the worlds population.

Honestly, unless you are obsessive about having ALL the cars the U.S. collectors edition is not worth it, the cars are the same as the non-chromeline versions, just a different and not especially exceptional paint job.

If you can get your hands on the stealths however I highly reccomend it...loads of fun.

I wish I had the money to pre-order GT5 so I could have gotten the Stealth models. I bet those are a crap ton of fun!

11 DLC cars is a good price since you can resell them on Ebay for like 50 bucks. I am just after the APEX Tuning Book.

I bought a regular version of GT5 a while ago. However, I became interested in the APEX ultimate guide. Consequently, they are limited. So, I have two choices: buy the book for 30-40$ from hong kong which will take 2-3 weeks to get to me, or buy a Collectors Edition locally from Game stop which I will be getting on Friday ( I found one 75 miles away from my house and they are transfering it to a gamestop near me free of charge) and it has a price tag of 75$.

Yes, this will give me two games of GT5. But, we live in a world where we can resell items on the internet. I can keep the APEX book and just resell the rest of the stuff on Amazon.com. A standard edition new goes for $49.99 on Amazon, so I can easily resell the game for that price in "new" condition, since it is, or I can sell everything except the APEX book for an additional 10-15$. Some one will always buy it.

Also, Gt5 Collectors Edition was 99.99$ the day of release. The price has recently dropped to $75.00. The way I see it, I am breaking even after I resell the Standard Edition, that is if I keep the entire collectors edition bundle. If don't keep the entire bundle, and sell everything but the APEX book, I can make alittle profit since on amazon.com, they are going for $100+ for New condition. I might even make make 10-15$ back in return.

See, I am good with buying and reselling. I never keep a game that I stop using.

^^^ Have you tried searching for a pdf. file of the apex book? Somebody has to have uploaded that thing somewhere.

Actually, the Chromelines are heavier and max horsepower is less. The Chromeline R8 5.2 and Murcielago 640 look cool in the garage.

75$ for a collectors addition? Over here you pay 65€ for the standard one, so about 90$, the collecors edition would be about $>120. Thats why I was a bit astonished.

Yes, I did. Only a french version exists. Honestly, I have been waiting for months for some one to upload a pdf format, but it really doesn't seem like anyone will.

What type of controller or wheel do you use?

The book APEX has very small print. Get a magnifying glass for car specs.
