Has GT6 changed your preferred driving view?

I've been a diehard cockpit view driver ever since we got it even though I'm faster in bumper cam.

The problem with the interior lighting in GT6 has FORCED me to bumper cam again just so I can see. Some cars it's ok and others it's totally unusable. Might as well drive blindfolded.

Anybody else done this? I sure hope they patch it, soon.

Same as you...I was thinking the very same thing today while playing. In some cars is so dark that you are forced to use bumper or roof cam...(I prefer roof)

This is an HDR "issue" but they can fix it by just changing the values of the inside lighting. But not 100% sure PD will do it.

I really do not care for the cockpit cam though i do use it from time to time. I generally toggle between bumper and roof views. A proper hood view with a rear view mirror option would be a great thing to have.

Bumper view makes it hard to judge where your car is. I will often bump a car when I try to go around due to the car being a bit wider than I would think in that view and in roof view there is no mirror so you can't see what is coming up behind you so I toggle between them at different points in the race or in different types of racing

I used to race using the 3rd person behind-the-car view back on GT3 and GT4. In GT5 I used interior view for the early half of playing the game, then the other half I realized I could focus much more using roof view, and have stuck with that ever since. In GT6 I switch off between cockpit and roof depending on the situation; for casual driving in a Premium car I use cockpit view, and for casual driving in Standard cars, drifting (which I almost never do), and racing I use roof view.

Nah GT5 changed my preference in driving view, and realistically it was a game no available on the Sony consoles that changed it before that, GT6 has just prolonged it.

I'm still racing in cockpit view all the time.

Until I go to Goodwood, and inevitably misjudge the hay bale in this turn.

Then I have to use hood cam to avoid it.

In certain lighting conditions the interior becomes so dark it is useless. It seems to be more a function of track/time than the car. Also outside world through the windshield gets a lot darker as well. If it's supposed to simulate the visor on the racing helmet - I guess I get it, but it still forces me to switch to bumper cam in those conditions. If it only happened at sunset, again, I guess I would understand. However, even in the middle of the day at some tracks cockpit view is significantly darker than bumper cam.

It's been in-car all the way for me.

Not sure what people mean by lighting issues. ..

Like it's been said some cars are so dark in that view you can't hardly see at all.

This 100%

In GT5(and GT4...and GT3) I always used chase cam, but I've been using cockpit view most of the time for GT6, so I can be prepared for when if I get a G27 for Christmas. Only times I don't is when I'm driving the R18(roof view).

That thing is impossible to see out of in full sun!

Why would it change? GT6 is basically the same as GT5 in this respect.

Dash is nice and all but not very usable. It's hard to see the speed and the tach on a lot of the cars, and on the overlay they are on the edges of the screen in two different locations. Not surprised people are faster with bumper cam.

The window is just so small, lol. I think it's just because I'm not used to it. I got in it the first time and went "LOL NOPE" and I liked the roof view, so that's what I use... only for that car.

I've always used bumper can. I got used to judging where the sides are, and I don't like views that obscure a lot of my view (cockpit) or outside of the car. The follow can always made me like there's input lag when there isn't.

I'd probably like the cockpit view under the circumstances, but I think it'd take an Oculus Rift to keep me from noticing how unrealistic it feels.

Mmm... I've always been a chase cam driver. There's never been any driving games where I've felt a good sense of where things were around me, driving from cockpit cam.

(Curiously enough, I don't have this problem with Mech games. I can practically dance in a Mech around objects / terrain. Go figure.)

GT is the only sim racer that I find I can't use anything but bumper.

Even with my flight sims I have used the simulated cockpits for years. If a cockpit view is offered, good chance I'll favor it, but for some reason I just can't use it with GT. Screws up my perception, and particularly my brake points, something awful.

I use roof cam as well, but I have a good surround sound system, so I can usually tell which side the car from the back is coming from. Personally i find the rear view mirror distracting and I make mistakes.

The framerate drops and lighting issues in cockpit view have motivated me to start using bumper cam again after a 3 year hiatus.

At least I can customize the color of my gauges!

My glass is half full

That is why it should be optional some would want to use it and some would not. Most of the time I do not need it but in some cases, Nascar or racing on tracks with long straights where I am using a slower car than the AI I need to see when something is coming up from behind, may need to block or may need to move over to break the slip stream.

I find the roof view a bit odd in GT as on some cars it almost feels like a hood view where on others it is very clear that the camera is on top of the car.

The RX7 LM for example seems like it is mounted low and makes the front of the car look huge whereas on the Ford GT SpecII LM it seems very high and makes the nose look tiny

I've started using the roof cam exclusively, due to some of the standards being upgraded to tolerable quality and the removal of the Multi-Monitor feature, which is where one could adjust the FOV settings in GT5 under certain circumstances...

cockpit view is just a novelty.

atleast for me it is. Sure it's cool and neat and all, but I'm much slower AND I tend to make more mistakes in cockpit view versus bumper or hood view.

when friends are over I might switch to cockpit and just cruise but besides that you'll never see me actually racing in cockpit view.

I think hood/roofcam is the easiest to drive but in fact I almost always use the interiorview, only I because I think it's the nicest and most realistic to see. :D

Cockpit view always. Both in GT5 and GT6. Except when I can't get gold in some event, then I change to bumper cam and later go back to interior.

The only thing I miss in GT6 so far is that in GT5 you could turn gauges off but still display time, lap, position, etc. Now it's either all on or all off. And I hate having that gauge layer in front of the wheel and dashboard.

BTW, OT: is it possible to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius?
