Has GT6 changed your preferred driving view?

Guess I'll stick to late GT5 style. Shifting between Roof, Cockpit and Chase.
 
No, because they all suck. There is not one ideal driving view in Gran Turismo 6.

Bumper cam is too low and leans from side to side like crazy. If you look at how much the camera leans in an X1 (which is super stiff) you can see the view is moving a lot more than just the body is.

Hood Cam. Well its a crappy roof cam most of the time.

Cockpit view: The steering wheel doesn't turn the same amount as the wheels. In GT6 its also way too dark both outside and in and the FPS is horrible, like a slide show at 10-20fps with massive tearing.

Chase cam: Horrible stiff chase cam thats impossible to control the car with. They should have left it like GT1-GT3 or least given given users the option.


So to sum up the views have been one of the worst aspects of GT5 and GT6.

Bumper cam is eye level not bumper level.
 
Haven't changed from bumper cam to another view but have done away with the racing line as the braking points are all wrong anyways.

Based on what height driver? Still feels to low for people above average height. You should be able to adjust this.

Almost the exact same height as cockpit. Front to back position is the same as cockpit as well. It is just in the center of the car instead of the side.

Its on same place as on cockpit, totally same view point and height, only missing window a-pillars and cockpit. Putting on cockpit view from "bumper"-cam changes nothing else than adding cockpit :) (bumper cam feels much faster coz view expands so much)
 
I'm pretty much only running in bumper cam now except for open-cockpit cars like the X-Bow. The cockpit view in any car with a cabin is far too dark. For open cockpits I prefer cockpit view to have a better sense of where the wheels are.

I've been a diehard cockpit view driver ever since we got it even though I'm faster in bumper cam.

The problem with the interior lighting in GT6 has FORCED me to bumper cam again just so I can see. Some cars it's ok and others it's totally unusable. Might as well drive blindfolded.

Anybody else done this? I sure hope they patch it, soon.

This isn't a development problem.

Some cars really are THAT restricting. Every car isn't designed like a Honda Civic with optimum visibility. Have you tried driving the Audi R18 GT Anniversary car in cockpit view. It looks like a spaceship in there; like you're looking through a keyhole.

I prefer racing in full car view, because it gives me a better idea of where I am on the track in comparison to opponents too. I switch to the cockpit view once I have a comfortable lead.

Cockpit view on 60" TV = Incredible
 
GT6 actually made me change my preferred driving view.

I've almost always used the chase camera in any racing game I play, mainly because I had very bad awareness of other cars around me when playing with other people (or even AI) and so I had to see where I was everywhere. Since I got my permit (renewed) a little while ago, I began switching to the cockpit view because I feel like I can focus on everything that is happening around me.

I've even managed to drive the Audi R18 15th Anniv in cockpit view - I somehow learned to adjust.

Its not the restrictive view that's an issue in GT6, its the lighting. Some cockpits under certain light conditions are almost impossible to see out of.

and becuase the framerates in bumper cam are better than in the cockpit...smoothness of motion contributes to sense of speed too.
 
Happens to me too. If I use cockpit view I need to crank up the brightness, I can still see though. Hope it gets fixed in a "mini update".
 
I like cockpit view before and I still do now. The different amount of steering isn't as distracting since my gaming wheel is mounted in my field of view and I don't actually "see" the graphic wheel when I am playing...

Although considering I could have made the graphic wheel turn the same amount when I had the DFP on PC playing rFactor 7 years ago, you'd think they can figure this out by now...
 
First person view only for me. It is a bit to hard to see at times but I don't mind. It can be impossible to see in the real world as well.

Yup, now I can't use bonnet cam, like in every other game

Also why have the interiors got steering wheels??
I dont want to see 2 steering wheels and four arms when im racing with a wheel..

it seriously needs an option to turn off the wheel and arms!!!!

I agree, I always kind of liked the cockpit view in TOCA3 due to no visual wheel. Although I have to say it doesn't bother me all that much since my eyes are always looking downtrack far ahead like they should be anyway :sly:

Very true! And I move my chair and wheel stand up close so my face is maybe 4' from the screen. I can see how if you sat far back on a smaller TV that the view would feel very small.
 
I don't like cockpit view in GT5 or 6 because the driver reaches down when he anticipates that I am going to shift and that distracts me. Same reason I turn off the flashing suggested gear in bumper cam.
 
Nah, still switch between bumper cam and cockpit like in GT5. I wish to the heavens PD would include more views and toggle options. I would be great to have a view like TOCA3 more up on the dash instead of behind the wheel, plus the "top of the car" view is just terrible. We need a camera view that would be like in front of the windshield where you can see the bonnet of the car in front of you. (This would also help the standard car view because having an all black interior with no bonnet in front of me is so weird I can't stand it)

There are, actually, 3 different options for cockpit cam (you set up in the quick options menu), however most of the time selecting narrow or narrower will zoom camera and also lift up the view so you basically cant see half or more of the dashboard... This is wrong and makes no sense. There should be possibility to lower seat height, so you could see full speedo and tacho in those zoomed-in view modes

I'd used the chase cam from GT through GT4, but the one from GT5P onward looks really stiff and awkward. Bumper cam now.
 
I used to race with cockpit view the most, but part way through GT5, switched to roof cam as my primary view for a better view of the track. I'll still switch between roof and cockpit, maybe a 75/25 split.
 
Roof is the only that has an acceptable FOV... i really would like to use interior view, but in tight corners you have to guess the right cornering points.
Racing games needs at least the look-to-apex feature.
