Have you ever run in a real circuit?

I love muscle cars, they are very rare in Spain (Europe). Your Camaro is hot! 👍👍👍
Thank you. We are also working on a 67 Mustang Fastback (bought it for my gf) but it has a long way to go before it is track ready. It was a coupe and I converted it to a fastback. Took a lot of sheet metal fabrication.
You can see more about her car here. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=109783&highlight=67+fastback

That's the track I was talking about, actually. I wondered if they just opened the place up to the public for a couple hours a day, Ring-style, but it looks like they just have a couple open track days during the summer. Maybe I'll show up to one; the track looks fun.

I think June 6th is the first "open" day. One of my friend's parents takes his Porsche out there frequently on these days, and as I recall, you get to push your car a bit, but its not like an actual race day event.

I have no idea how much it would cost though. And I don't know if my helmet(s) are "legal" for racing. Nevertheless, I really want to run a couple laps in the Celica, just to see how she does.

Ok, looks like I need to find a car and make it track-worthy by then. There's no way I'm driving the Blazer!

I had figured that; it's not the racing that I'm worried about, it's the joy of legally being able to push my car.

I can't imagine access to the track itself would cost a whole lot. As for helmets... I almost forgot about that. Wonder if there's a place that could rent them to you...?

The track will probably have them, though they may be around $25 to rent. I had a helmet on order but canceled it after reading some reviews. Need to find another before June.

I just use the same helmet that I use while I ride my quad. Same with my passengers as you can see in the pics above.
Sureshot,
Thanks for the compliment on my car.

Extra run-off or not, every track is dangerous. Hit the grass sideways and you'll flip over, it's almost guaranteed.

And flat airfield tracks have lots of grip... sometimes too much... which helps promote oil starvation and engine-blow-ups.

Albert Park

Been driven on the public road (50km/h speedlimit). Pretty sure just about any Melbournian would've been around it.

That looks seriously hot 👍
Seconded. Love the reverse scoop you've got on it, CB

I've never been on a real circuit, but there's one not far from where I live:
Powerbuilt Tools International Raceway (formerly Ruapuna Raceway), probably a 20-minute drive from my place.
Ruapuna-Grand%20Prix_.gif

3.33km

All sorts of stuff race on it - F5000, TRS, SuperGT, NZV8, Battery Town GT3 Cup, Production Cars, D1NZ... anything you can think of, really.

I'm going to go there at some point.
