Heading to the Geneva Motor Show? Here's Nine Cars You Must See (And One You Shouldn't)

A nice article.

Not sure I am that taken with the BMX X7 overall shape but everything about it looks very nice and sure it will be popular.

Everything else in the article looks very good except of course for the body swap Sin S1 but I am sure fans of kit cars etc may like it.

Why is it not symmetrical? No car should ever not be symmetrical.

That’s still pretty ugly, IMO...

Funny you mention that, actually. With the thread including such things as a D-Type although i don't think the Porsche 550 A was mentioned, along with a fair amount of other older roofless race cars
...Though I will concede that this thread slightly changed my mind. Had no idea about the Murcielago and of course the D-Type is a beaut. I just think asymmetrical and immediately think of the Cube, Veloster, and those horrendous Land Rovers with offset rear ends.

But is it ugly because it's asymmetrical? I understand that it may not suit everyone's taste, but I think it pulls off that one detail rather well as it relates to the design of the whole car. I picked the XNR for that very reason.

A Studebaker Avanti is asymmetrical as well, but does a better job of hiding it. Then you've got customs such as Tex Smith's "XR6" T-bucket, the Gene Winfield "Strip Star" and Dean Jeffries' "Mantaray"--but they're arguably more polarizing.

Let's not forget race cars. Sure, all open LMPs are a tad asymmetrical, but then you've got oddballs such as the Adams VSE Escort which was in essence an inverted catamaran with the driver in one hull and a tilted Chevrolet V8 in the other, numerous turbine cars, and even some homebuilt trackday machines with bike engines where you might otherwise put a passenger.

Point is that asymmetricality isn't necessarily a bad thing. While the subject that initiated this tangent is indeed a hot mess, its asymmetrical design is merely something one can easily put a pin in. Is it horrendous because it's asymmetrical?

Just something for your noodle to caboodle. ;)

Edit: Misspelled one of those asymmetricals.

While it's certainly striking, I'm not quite sure "relevant" is the comparative term I'd use for a car costing the wrong side of $3 million.

It sure is, since it is so radical in its focus on nothing else but pure speed, it is in a whole nother ballpark compared to other super/hypercars. Just look at how tame it makes something like the Lafferarri look in comparison. It is so mindblowing, I entirely forgot how its boring competitor from AMG is even named.

By that reasoning, they're likely candidates for an ADD diagnosis compared to these guys.

Going fast isn't the focus with toys like the Aston or the AMG you mentioned; no, they're just thinking about a handful of people with deep pockets and a sense of inadequacy.
