I am really intrigued by this game. It looks to be interesting and it would definitely be change my usual choice of game.

I've just pre-ordered the HMV special edition. I've not really been sifting through every bit of news on it so hopefully for once I'll get a decent game without knowing what to expect. From what I have seen it looks pretty good and will be interesting to play a something aimed at "mature" gamers. Hopefully the story will be as good as Uncharted 2

Got a 9/10 review on the offical UK Playstation Magazine. Says it does have the odd problem with some hammy acting, & iffy bits of storyline, but the general jist is that's a very unique & rewarding experience that every PS3 owner should try, & that we'll probably hate it (you heard me right). Apparently, you need to change the way you view playing games to appreciate it.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to something a little bit different. That is until GoWIII, FFXIII, & GT5 (& I've still got Brutal Legend, Saboteur, & Dragon Age Origins to get through, oh & Alone in the Dark:Inferno which just keeps getting pushed back for all the new shiny shiny stuff that keeps coming out).

Are we spoilt on the PS3 at the moment, or what?

I don't know. It looks great, with that I mean story, the new concept, graphic and of course alternate movements in storyline.

But I rather see a gameplay similar to GTA. Not just walking around and presing X, O, sqaure and triangle. I wanna shoot bad guys, run like a maniac. Drive a car.

Yeah, this game's looking great, but from what I've heard and seen, the story will be different if you've chosen differently (when the button screen pops up). I'm afraid I can't manage to press those random buttons in time. :p

kjb

This is good news! 👍

I know. It will give me a chance to see if I will like this game. I think I will like but you never know.

Beat me to it! :)

Not sure if i'll play it , I'm getting this game 100%, demo wont change that. For me I think it could be a possible FFXIII killer. Star Ocean too maybe. Very much looking forward to it anyway, I hope it plays as awesome as it looks!
From watching some spoiler videos it seems to be very non-typical gameplay, almost like a series of quicktime events.

I would link the video that shows it off really well, but it contained nude CGI breasts.

Just say "WARNING: nude scenes" and link the video.

Or you could just Google Heavy Rain shower scene. I was linked to it via The Escapist yesterday, but it was on a French site, and I can't remember the name of it.

I'm also not going to be the one that puts spoilers in this thread.

I have seen four videos now, and I will tell you where I saw them, but first:
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING
  1. First 9 minutes - YouTube
  2. Mall Scene - Game Trailers
  3. Night Club Scene - Joystiq
  4. Shower Scene - Above-mentioned French site
The Mall Scene is a bit busy to really see how the gameplay works, but the nightclub and shower scene clips are fairly clear.

This game looks kind of dumb.
How so?

They are trying a new take on video game storytelling so I am withholding all judgments.

It really is something different. I how hope it turns out well. It will be something different from the usual videogame fare. It is successful maybe that will encourage more developers to take chances on games like it.

Heavy Rain demo is on the PSN Store now if you've completed the 4 day challenge

Shame I didn't start it earlier! :(

Edit: Apparently it's 2GB and the below answers are the correct ones to submit as evidence. Enjoy

Short cigarette
Origami bird
Coffee shop C (diner)
Item 117h tyre tracks

Edit 2: You have to submit the answers on day 4, I'm sure when this is but hopefully it will be before it is available to everyone on the PSN store next Thursday.

Completed the 4 day challenge, and my demo is currently downloading! :)

the demo's size is 1,754 MB and it's taking forever. I have to work soon, so playing it may have to wait until tomorrow. Even if I manage to play a little tonight, I'll post my impressions tomorrow morning. I'm really eager to try this game out, seeing as though I have it on preorder. 👍

EDIT--
As soon as I got home from work, I turned on the demo. At first glance, the interface is really, really impressive. From the opening "Quantic Dream" credit to the pause screen, the game just shouted out beauty. I'm not going to explain what happens in the demo, but there are some things I want to point out:

1. The game is absolutely gorgeous. The character animation, while walking, is a little robotic, but you won't really care. The game is absolutely stunning.
2. The controls are, for the first few minutes or so, extremely awkward. After that, it will become very natural. The QTEs (displayed in the fight scene in this demo) are a little tough, but with the couple of mistakes I made, the game was a little generous with me and I got through it just fine. I noticed after I did my play through, the difficulty was set to "Hard", which made me question the actual difficulty of the actual game, but we'll just have to see when it comes out.
3. The A.R.I. is f'ing SWEET. That's all you need to know about the A.R.I.
4. The voice acting seems to be 75% great, 25% just... awkward (they abused Norman Jayden's New England accent a little lol).
5. The demo is short. Really short. Which is actually a good thing. It showed the game's general presentation (Controls and Graphics). Nothing more, nothing less. If there's anyone shy about trying the demo because of spoilers, fear not, for there are none.

That's that. There was a trailer included with the demo (I don't know if it's new or recycled). While it is a great trailer, it seems as though it was just thrown on there as if Quantic/Sony were saying "Yeah, you're going to buy this game."

And guess what...? I am! 👍

I've managed to download the demo now (see the update on the sixthaxis news story)

The game is like no other I've ever played! It looks stunning and has some really cool features (FBI shades!) but may take a little while to get used to. It is definitely an interactive story/movie rather than an action game and there are a number of quick time events (e.g. fights, conversations and getting to awkward places) but it is done in a very innovative way so does require skill and it changes the action if you make mistakes.

I get the sense you are going to need to engage your brain to get through the game and won't be reminded what's going on or guided too much

I'm still getting it :)

I've played the demo for once yesterday. This game doesn't like any other games, it's like watching a movie while you're actually playing it. 👍 I managed to press the right buttons during the fight, 'cause I knew that's gonna cost me if I missed them. The thing I'm worrying is that, there's a moment with thoughts popping around the character's head and we have to choose quickly, otherwise the other character would not interact with you if you missed them. I'm afraid I'll miss out a whole lot from conversations because I can't choose the 'thoughts' in time. Anyways, this game is amazing and I'll buy it at launch without doubt. :D

This game reminds me of the old LucasArts games like Monkey Island, or Sierra games like King's Quest. There's just more control given to the player. Plus there's a Film Noir quality about it which I love. Definite buy for me, and those awesome FBI shades just sealed the deal.

I enjoyed the demo but am concerned the game will be a little too linear and hurt the replay factor. I know there is different endings and paths but I have heard the game is pretty shoft also, though I guess that depends on how you play.

I played the demo this morning and all i can say is... Wow! Looks like it's going to be a fantastic game. The gameplay is so innovative and I'm sure it was a bit of a risk making it that way. But it payed off.

answer: both lol

ive yet to play the demo, just dl'ed and installed it so far. can't wait till the day is done

This demo was even better then i expected, release day buy this.

It was strange though, you are playing a character but it felt like a movie, while you were making the moves.

I enjoyed the demo. The controls felt a little awkward at first but i got used to them. I will definitely buy this game when I get the chance.
