Heavy Rain

This game doesn't like any other games, it's like watching a movie while you're actually playing it.

To me, it felt like they took the button matching feature from God of War and took it to the next level. Unfortunately that level is one that should never be. I can see this game becoming incredibly tedious. Button presses and combos to do absolutely everything. I think it went a step too far.

I've heard several people talking about this one.I downloaded the demo last night, tonight I'll give it a shot and see what it is all about.

My demo FINALLY finished downloading last night. I left the PS3 running all day Sunday and it only got to about 90% before I shut it off. Finished the final 10% last night and had a go at playing it.

Very interesting game. Not sure if it's a purchase for me, but definitely a rental. We'll see when it finally comes out.

You do realize that you can set the PS3 to turn off after it completes downloading, don't you?

Go to the far left of the XMB, and at the top it should have a Turn of PS3 option. If you have a download or install waiting when you select it you will be given a check box option to automatically shutdown when all downloads and installs are complete. Select Yes and say OK, and it will finish downloading and installing anything you have running.

I was messing around with possible outcomes in "sleazy place." When you hear her screams you can actually just walk away. It was funny to do nothing during the fight also, and watch yourself get smacked around. She thanks you no matter what however and you don't look any more or less beat up. I tried not paying her and not leaving my card which might affect later in the game also.

It's true if one character dies he/she is gone for the duration of the story? Can't wait to see the full version and how you can screw around with outcomes and such.

I just wish the XMB would do multiple downloads simultaneously.

I allowed myself to get beaten then did it again almost perfect and I thought there was less injury on the forehead (almost nothing), though I might have just been imagining it. I did it again but this time just left without confronting the guy, wonder how that would effect the story. :D

Apparently so. I sure hope it's true about all the ways of skewing the story and different outcomes, I intend to play it through a few times to get my moneys worth.

I'm avoiding actually reading the posts for fear of spoilers, but I thought I would let you know I took 4 days off work for this, and I've never been more excited for any release in the entire entertainment industry. Heavy Rain is my cup of tea, but like I've been saying since 2006, a lot of the Halo generation won't quite get it. And I actually loved Indigo Prophecy aka Fahrenheit.

I played through the Demo last night and really enjoyed it. Great looking game. And the facial expressions were some of the best i have seen in a game. I don't know if i'm going to purchase it, may wait for gamefly to send it out as i don't see there being much re-play value after you've figured out the mystery. I did like the controls. During the fight scene, the rush and fear of getting the next command correct was fun. Really great idea for a game, or an awesome interactive way to tell a story. :)👍

There's supposed to a couple different endings so it might have some replay value.

I heard the storyline REALLY can branch out near the end, makes sense because if it could drastically branch out at the beginning most people would only ever see 20% of the game, and development would take 5 more years :p The script as it is is over 2000 pages or so I hear.

Can't wait for this, only 5 days! Demo is amazing. Love how intense it gets. Like a movie it can go from one emotion to another quite quickly.

I got my hands on Limited Edition today .. Just completed prologue/first chapter and I have to say how positively surprised I am with interactiveness of the story told in this game.. The music is good , the graphics are also not bad , dialogue delivery and writing also doesn't disappoint at the moment..
Overall first impression: Both Thumbs Up..

Keep us posted, I played the Demo yesterday, very impressive, I like the fight action and the control structure in general. 👍

One tip: if you have at least average/moderate experience with using game pad in video games, bump difficulty to the highest level..

Don't get discouraged by the loading times between chapters, they are absolutely brutal sometimes..

There is a nice feature with "delayed trophies notifications" (so the Trophy message pops out after finished chapter not during it) so it doesn't spoil the mood or distract you during gameplay..

That's a cool feature. Any other neat bits like that, since this is a PS3 exclusive?

I posted this early on in the thread I was suprised to see the the final EU box art ended up very similar! I knew making it look like the film release would be a good idea! :sly:

Meh, got bored.... did a quick chop :sly:

I think the teaser poster would look good as the final box art... more like a movie, it would certainly be different!

As for the game I have yet to try the demo but its sounds promising from the reviews.

Well for example all but 3 trophies are secret so you don't have to worry that by looking into your Trophy Profile you'll find any spoilers. Plus during installation on your system you are given instructions how to make the Origami (which can be seen on the box-art) from the piece of paper you find in the instruction booklet (I think normal version also should include it).

The Limited Edition has voucher for Dynamic Theme , Soundtrack and The Extra Chapter DLC: The Taxidermist ..

And the box-art of the Limited Edition has actual "carved" raindrops on it (it looks and "feels" very nice).

Since I don't want to spoil the story, it is important to be aware of what is going on around you, it can be very helpful in later stages of the game ..

cheers

Have you played a lot? During the demo, particularly in the FBI agent's story, I'm worried that we'll have to comb entire maps to make sure we don't miss any details. I'd prefer not to do that, tbh.

I finished the game. You don't have to worry about going inch by inch, clicking on every object visible. "The thoughts" usually give you indication about what you are supposed to do/look for/perform what action, so no worries. I completely didn't see it as a problem.

Overall I really enjoyed the experience, especially later when the story speeds up little bit (or maybe it went faster because of actions I've taken , but this I will know if I play it again) I just couldn't stop playing out of curiosity. There are some ups and downs in some scenes but I won't nitpick. It was great fun. An interesting story with very satisfying finish. It has my stamp of approval ;)

I heard in one review that there is a huge plot hole with the other male character (the bearded one with the kids) that is never explained, is that true?

Yes, but it's not one of those plot-holes that disappoints, IMO, but rather makes me wonder. I have a theory, but it's not factual, and would spoil the story, therefore I'm not stating it lol. All around, fantastic "game." I'm currently on my second playthrough 👍

It depends how you look at it. If you really want to over-analyze every single detail then you can be bothered by it. I personally think it (the plot hole) can be explained, but we would need someone with degree in , I don't know, maybe psychiatry to really solve this issue. I can assure you it is not as a big problem as some are making it to be in reviews or Internet forums.

So, final word - worth $60? How long did it take you to complete the story? Better as a rental?
