nope
i burned an image to a cd-rom with nero and i can't erase the disc! with any program i need help

no

ummmm, unless it is a rewritable disc, you can't erase it!

Try using a knife on the playing surface of the disc.

The data would still be recoverable. Now if you melt it down, then it gets a little harder...

Cut the disk up into tiny pieces. Like gOoSeTeR said, you can't delete anything unless it's a CD-RW not a CD-R.

No, I mean tiny, tiny peices, not centimeter squares.

Tiny.

Tiny.

I saw a show (A documentary) where the FBI got the info from a CD that went through a mincing machine, then a blender. It can be recovered.

Scratch up the disk on both sides on concrete, cut it into many tiny pieces, and put each piece in a separate garbage can. (requires lots of traveling.)

Drop it into a container of molten steel. If it can kill a terminator....

There's no need to destroy it.

Just label the disc: "Burned Copy of From Justin to Kelly" and I guarantee your data will be safe from prying eyes.

Or put it in one of these, if molten steel isn't available.

What kinda disk are you using? CD-Rom? Rom = read only. You're either using a CD-RW or most probably CD-R disk. With the former, you should be able to erase data. With the latter, it aint going anywhere.

yes

Jon.

No, Jon, my Laptop doesn't get THAT hot. It probably could if I played games on it during a summer's day though. :P Though, it did attempt to munch at one the other day and left a few nasty scratches on it.

Trying not to be unsafe here, but try burning it in an open flame? It done a decent job melting my old calculator that's for sure...

CD-R

i mean just deleting the data from the disc

edit:
MachOne
Maybe he wants to erase the data to re-use the disc. Cutting it up wouldn't be logical.

Yeah, if it isn't RW, no erase.

yeah that's what i mean

doh:dunce:

Not possible, sorry. And why would you want to anyway? They cost what? 20c each? If THAT!

If you paid $1.50 AUS for a single 700MB CD-R then you got bumped. If it was an 800MB CD-R then that could almost be forgivable, but when buying them in any kind of quantity (25/50/100) they should cost between 10p and 20p each (20 to 40 cents AUS).

yes i paid $1.50 AU for a single 700mb CD-R from my local newsagent and next to it there was a 650mb CD-RW i think for $2.00 or something

I have NEVER used a CD-RW in my life, CDRs are cheap enough not to bother with CD-RWs. The least I have put on a 700Mb CDR is 2kb (a text file)

DAMN I'M NEVER BUYING A CD-R AGAIN

Why not? Just buy a pack of 100 CD-Rs for $20. Mind you, you normally get about 100 uses out of a CD-RW, so it probably works out cheaper.

FYI

CD-R Stands for Compact Disc - Recordable
CD-RW Stands for Compact Disc - ReWritable

gOoSeTeR

because you can only use them once

damn that sucks

yeah that's what i'll get if i can find 700mb

even a 650 CD-RW would do the trick. But what are you burning to it? Would a USB drive be better perhaps?

i'm trying to burn music to it so it'll playback in a cd player but then again i've got an mp3 payer

I agree with Gooseter. I would get a flash drive instead. They're not terribly expensive and it's less of a hassle than burning/rewriting. It's quite convenient to have.

Edit: I missed the part where you said you wanted to use it as a music CD, so ignore my suggestion above. Now for a new suggestion: Make sure your CD Player can play CD-RWs. I had a CD Player that could play CD-Rs but not RWs.

i won't bother cause i have an mp3 player not only does that play music but it can be used as a normal 128mb flash drive and it's only $30
