Erm, I was gonna post this earlyier, but what does that question have to do with the GTP forum(you do realise you posted this in the suggestions/feedback forum which is for questions/comments about GTP...)?

If the game works on another PS2, then there is something wrong with yours. First, I would try cleaning the lens. Open your PS2 up, take out the drive and clean the lens with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. There is a FAQ about it over at gamefaqs.com. If it still doesn't work, clean the disc, with a a damp towel, rubbing toothpaste on the scratch, or using a Disc Doctor. If it still doesn't work, send it in to Sony.

DO NOT take your PS2 apart. Just call up Sony and tell them what the problem is, and answer all thier questions. You should end up with a waved cost(meaning you have to pay nothing)and just send it into Sony(it will be like $12 cause it should be insured and stuff) and you should get it back in "15-20" days, but I got mine back in 8 days.

They will also fix anything else wrong with it(my tray was broken and I didn't really notice but they put in a new tray assembly free) and give you a new 30-day warrenty period.

If you open it up by yourself, they will charge you at Sony.

My PS2 makes the large circular scratch on my Madden 2002 cd all the time. I just use the Disk Doctor and it fixes it until it happens again, then I repeat the process. Saves me a lot of money!

P.S. I'd trust Mazkid, never open your PS2 unless it's really old and the warenty is already expired(which it shouldn't be yet) or it will void the warrenty.

He said it was one of the original US shipments, so his warranty expired well over year ago. So, open it up and try to repair it yourself.

Don't open it up!!!

If you were to open it up yourself you would not know what to repair. It's so compact and can be broken quite easily. Would you want Sony to fix it for 160$ Or would you rather open it up and break it then have to pay $200 for a new one.Why open it up when You don't know whats wrong with it? Just ship it to Sony. ;)

Viper Zero you just don't get it do you?

If you open it up, Sony will charge you to fix it because you tampered with it. My warrenty was up a hell of a long time ago, and I was charged nothing because I didn't mess with it and I let them fix it. You know those little things that cross the gap from one part to another on the PS2 that say "Void if broken" or something like that? That's what that means.

Really VZ, when you think you know something, come back, but for right now, don't cause problems for others because of your inexperience of how these things work.

It cost me $12 to have my PS2 fixed at Sony, and I got it back super fast and it's exellent now. I'd really hate for someone to follow your method and cause problems for themselfs base on what you said.

Anyone having problems with thier PS2, call Sony, explain what's wrong, tell them what you did, answer their questions, and it will be fixed. DO NOT take it apart. Take it apart=expensive to get fixed by Sony; leave alone=free fix, just shipping cost.

It's only 20 days, and I got mine back real fast and 20 days was thier maximum number, it will be back before then.

Hope that helps people.

Mazkid, go find someone else to release your frustration on because you won't find a fight with me.

There are 3 separate FAQs at gamefaqs.com that explain the same problem GT3bedbuddy has with his PS2 and how to fix them without spending $120 to send it in to Sony. GT3bedbuddy's warranty has expired. That means Sony does not have an obligation to repair GT3bedbuddy's PS2 for free. Although, you might have a slight chance to get it repaired for free if you whine and moan to Sony and they might feel sorry for you.

I stated the facts, I stated my knowledge. Don't like it? Don't listen.

Two people says you should not take your PS2 apart and one says you can. Viper Zero The system is so compact. (I used to take things apart and never figured out how to put it back together. :embarrassed: ) Viper Zero I'm not trying to argue but its Toooooooooooooooo risky ok? GT3BedBuddy just call Sony and if they want you to pay 160$ for it yell at them then they can make the price closer to MazKid's price ($12) Ok?

I didn't yell at all. I just stated my problem to them and they told me that they would fix it for free. That was in August, and I got the PS2 in november '00, so yes my warrenty was up a long time ago. But if you didn't mess with your PS2, Sony will fix the problem as it's a system malfunction.

Atleast call Sony and explain the problem, if they say that you have to pay then go from there. DO NOT just take your PS2 apart if Sony will fix it for free...

Yes, there is no point in wrecking it when with a small price you can get it fixed by the experts :)
