What kind of cars do you guys have, and what're their specs? HP, torque, and weight?

Mine is a '78 Volvo 264GLE, with 125HP @ 5500 RPM, 148 fl.lbs torque @ 2750 RPM, with 4190 lbs (2050 lbs front, 2180 lbs rear).

Edit> About 3200lbs, not 4190. That was it's weight with it's max load. :P

See what saveing your lunch money does :D
$2.50 x 8th grade to 11thgrade = RX-7 :)

Age:17 18 in 3 months
Mazda Rx-7 N/A 90'
HP190+

torque:NA
lbs:around 2000 I think

i still need to do a dyno.

RX-7 is nowhere near 2000 lbs ...

Try like 2800-2900 lbs dry weight for that model year, assuming you have a hardtop, of course ...

Haha, should'a figured the kids on these forums wouldn't have beaters. :P I know about how engines work, but I'm not so good with hard numbers. I know my car doesn't have good specs, but is it above-par/respectable? I can slide the car whenever I feel like it, so it at least feels like it has good torque. :)

BTW, how many of you have named your car? Mine is Inga (Because it's a hot Sweedish name :P). If it was Japanese, I'd probably name it Sakura or Jin, depending on body style and color.

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Here is mine:

Car: 1993 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Weight: ~3200-3300lbs.
HP: ~290ish @ 5600RPM
Torque: ~325???

Mods: K&N Air Filter and Intake. Flowmaster Muffler and Magnaflow tail pipes.

'93 Ford Ranger. I don't really know what the specs are… something like 160 hp, and a "trucky" weight. All that matters is that it gets me up the Grapevine without too much dilemma.

here's "my" car:

unfortunately, i have no knowledge of the specs. however, i can get them later. i didn't buy it, i don't pay for it...don't drive it much either. but i will, i guess.

either that, or i'll drive our nissan stanza which my grandma now uses. that is our oldest car and it doesn't even have 30k miles on it. 👍

Damn you people and your own cars. :grumpy:

It's virtually impossible for me to own a car thanks to the ridiculous insurance in Ontario. No matter what I drive, I'd be looking to pay at least 3000-4000 dollars a year in insurance. Otherwise, I'd certainly be driving a 240SX right now.

So, in the meantime, I get to use my dad's '93 Explorer whenever I need transportation. In all of it's 18 second 0-60, and mashed potato suspension goodness...

"Back in the day" when I was in highschool I drove a 1985 Chevy K10 (1/2 4x4 Pickup).

When I got it in 7th grade its specs were something like this...
Engine: Stock 305 SB
Tranny: HD 3 speed manual with "granny low"
T-Case: Stock
Front Axle: GM 10 Bolt, 2.73 Gear
Rear Axle: GM 10 Bolt, 2.73 Gear
Tires: Stock
Hp: Pathetically Low
Torque Pathetically lowwer then the Hp
Weight: Like 4000+ Lbs
But the body was in near perfect condition....

By the time I graduated
Engine: 383 SB, Port & Polish, 2.10/1.65 Valves, Balanced & Blueprinted, MFI (Mechanical Fuel Injection), ProMag, Keith Black Pistons, Summit Crank & Rods, Crane truck hydrolic roller cam & lifters, roller rockers, Miladon splayed 4 bolt mains.
Tranny: Same HD 3 speed manual with "granny low" with a 3 disk clutch pack
T-Case: Atlas II
Front Axle: 35 Spline Dana 60, ABR Air locker, 3.73 Gear
Rear Axle: GM 14 Bolt, ABR Air locker, 3.73 Gear
Tires: 38" Super Swampers
Hp: ???? I would guess 350-400
Torque: ???? Enough to snap the axle shafts on a stock 10 bolt
Weight: 4500+ Lbs (Added bigger tires, stronger axles, roll bar, wench, etc...)

I was pushing one of them (with mates) for some challenge thing! Heavy buggers in full cab.

I'll probably have a Ford Focus 1.6 if I'm lucky. Or something smaller.

Hahaha ... Sucker ...

I pay $1200/year for insurance on my Silvia here in BC (with most of the options to boot) ;)

Ontario and Alberta are the worst for car insurance ... I just laughed when my buddy told me that they classified his Integra LS as a sports car in Alberta when he moved to Calgary, so he had to pay like $1000 more than he would have had it been classifed as an economy car ... How is an Integra LS a sports car ?

1988 Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe

HP = ~205 horsepower
TQ = ~250 lb./ft.
WEIGHT = much speculation about this!

I've seen weight figures range from 3,250 pounds to 3,716 pounds. I think the weight is closer to 3,600 pounds.

Transmission: leaky line fittings even after rebuild 4-speed auto. :yuck:

Engine: 2.3-liter inline 4-cylinder (YES A 4 cylinder Thunderbird exists) OHC (single overhead cam)

Turbo: IHIRHB52 turbocharger running at dangerously high boost pressure. :sly:

Boost controller: yes! :)

*Automatic climate control
*Automatic ride control
*Power seats/mirrors/door locks/windows/steering/sunroof (tilts/slides)
*ABS (disconnected)
*Aftermarket high-pressure fuel pump
*22.1-gallon (US gallons, that is) fuel tank
*Premium/Regular fuel console switch

Most of the time, it doesn't work. When it does work, it's a fun car to drive.

A friend of mine added his 16-year-old son to his Neon's insurance policy. While they were in the office, for grins they checked how much it would have been if the car was a Viper instead of a Neon. The answer?

$720... a month.

I also live in Ontario, I had an accident 75% at-fault just over 2 years ago, when I was 20, and the insurance on my 86 olds cutlass ciera went from $1800 to over $7000 a year. I wish I was joking. It's come down since then, but I had to park my car. More about that car it's an '86 Olds Cutlass Ciera Brougham

Pros:
It's only got 150,000 kms
It runs well enough if you let it idle when cold starting.
Aftermarket cd player installed by previous owner

Cons:
2 of 4 power locks don't work
3 of 4 power windows work
cruise control hasn't worked ever
no heat at all
you have to give it gas when starting and let it idle for 2 minutes giving it a bit of gas or it'll stall when you put it into gear
rear window is covered in skateboard and snowboard stickers that I thought were great when I bought the car a few years ago, but now wish weren't there
rust holes in the door pretty much ensure the car won't pass a safety inspection meaning it's almost worthless to another owner who'll have to spend as much money fixing the body work as the car is worth
one of the tires just won't stay inflated, and I've had it resealed twice
"possibly bent frame"
my sister calls it the 'blue box' which are the plastic bins we put our recyclable metals and glass in where I live, my car is also a nice (faded) dark/light blue color.

My first car that I got back when I was 16 was a 1995 Dodge Neon and it was like 900 bucks or something at an auction. It actually wasn't a bad first car.

60,000 miles, new tires, it was black, it had working air, tape player, power everything, and it was a 5 speed. Plus there was no dents or rust and all I had to do was fix some paint chips. I drove it for a while and then I sold it for 1400 bucks, wasn't a bad bit of money. The only problem I even had with it was clutch needed a little work. Sold it bought and bought a Civic  which was totaled with in a few months when someone ass ended me, then was the Eclipse, sold that and drove a **** box Mustang for a few months and bought my Blazer.

1988 Honda Accord LX. Looked exactly like that all down to the color. Except with a rusted body and such. It was a standard, and I learned to drive with it too.

Died at 249,000 miles or so. The headgasket blew.

The brother's got a blue 2002 Mustang.

Not sure of the specs but its was about $18000 when we got it used. The owner said he did some mods but didn't mention what. He got some discount on the auto insurance because he has a 4.0 GPA. He's 17, by the way.

What the hell you got a break on the insurence due to your grades? I should've asked about that way back when, I used to be over a 4.0 student (AP classes weighted more).

Yup, most insurance companies give discounts for having a good GPA ("Good Student Discount" or something like that.)

I'm calling my agent tomarrow and ask if it works with college as well. Even though I don't pay a whole lot in insurence for a Blazer, I still want it to be less :D.
