How much leave do you get over there man?

Our year 'stands down' for the exam period at the end of next May whilst the rest of the school finishes at the end of July. Pretty sweet, even with the exams/revision we get over an extra month of free time.

Revising? GTA5 will be out by then... I'm gonna fail my GCSE's at that rate

Well being targeted A* in every subject gives me enough motivation to do my best to get those grades. Plenty of time for GTA5 in June/July the way I see it, after all, we get a long as hell summer.

I have a tendency to get my target grade (better a few times) with little to no revision, I don't know how but the information just stays in the first time I hear it. Oh also most of my targets are B's and C's so not as ambitious as you ;)

I have a huge test tomorrow on the main points of the declaration of independence and how they tie into the writers' arguement. Can't wait

My mum always tells me that I shouldn't revise because if I don't know it, I don't know it. But I always forget what I learn and recently I've found it hard to take in what the teacher is saying, so I guess reading it from a revision book is best for me. My targets are all over the place. A-A* in English, C in Science, C in Maths, B+ in Resistant Materials, A in French, B in History (although that's being raised to an A after I got a B on the 'what are you capable of' exam) a Merit in Art (I didn't even take BTEC, but got put in it anyway... :grumpy:) and a Merit in ICT. I have a strange mix!

Also my 900th post!

I hear you Brits talking about revision a lot when you talk about GCSEs. What does this mean exactly?

I learned that I got a 50% on our last vocab quiz. I never do well on them. I'm really considering giving up on getting into a nice college.

YAY VOCAB FAIL BUDDIES!!! I had a brain fart on my last quiz

Well, take the hint dude! That obviously means that if you applied yourself and did some more revision, you could be getting awesome grades. It doesn't take as much revision as you'd think to get A/A* at GCSE level, just do a little bit (and I do mean, barely any) regularly and you're sorted. Being a 'model student' doesn't mean you have to throw away your social life at all, doesn't disrupt mine in the slightest; secures you a spot for any course you want in 6th form if you're good across the board too.

Sound like my dad but it's all true man

I get what you mean, I guess I'm not programed that way, I try and revise but I'm so lethargic I just end up putting the book away and play Fallout or something  I guess getting someone to revise with could help.

My targets are more tightly packed but my actual grades vary quite a lot for some, my target for English Lit is a C and I got an A on a poetry exam. My target for French is a C yet I got an F, as is the same with Spanish. I don't even know why I took Spanish I'm terrible at learning new languages, I don't know why I didn't take Food Tech instead I mean it has the word FOOD in it!

Had a college level essay to write today (because I am in A.P.). If you aren't familiar with the A.P. system, or at least how it works in Michigan, you get a Document Based Question, which is a question that gives you documents to use to support your argument and back up outside info. We had one about the Articles of Confederation today, and I completely blanked out, so there is a bad grade for me. I also still have a C+ in chemistry. I also have band tonight, and we did really bad Saturday so I'm sure practice will involve a lot of getting ******d at. Great.

9!? Wowzers!!!!

It's for four different subjects with two each (three exams for French). I take CIE (GCSEs, AS, A-Level) instead of NCEA (NZ school qualifications), so I'm more like the Brits here because I take similar subjects, albeit in October/November instead of May/June.

Going over/re-studying things you've already been taught in class in preperation for an exam, basically. I think you just call it studying over in America.

Oh, I see. We do just say studying, we keep things simple on this side of the pond :D

To me at least, studying could mean just studying normal stuff in class whilst revision refers to refreshing your knowledge of stuff you've already learnt, normally at home. But we'll let you off on this one ;)

I've got to study for a Crucible test tomorrow, but I still feel it won't go well. I hate that feeling.

My class read that last year. I actually understood it for the most part. Now my senior English class is reading Crime and Punishment.

Understanding it isn't a problem, it's the minute details she asks us about that I can't remember. I also get characters confused sometimes over little things.

I just remembered I have a test in Spanish tomorrow as well, good thing this section is easy. Then Thursday I have my second Micro Economics quiz this week, a quiz on Derivatives in Calc, and a Physics test Thursday or Friday. I really hope I get to hang out with a certain girl on Friday, I'll be needing it.

Apparently somebody tied a shoe to something on the ceiling today in PE...

That's the complete opposite than what I have, I have loads of internals. Graphics (get 9 credits at the end of next week), music (get 12 over the next week), English (4-12 from exam), metal work, 12-19 over next month, because I'm using my holiday to finish off the project, got 3 credits yesterday, and will get 3 more in cabbage computers next week. Throughout this 3 week school term I am earning about 6 times as many credits as I already have (which should pass me through the year if I get it all right).

Currently at 9 credits, + 9 + 12 + 12 + 19 + 6 = 67

I need 60 to pass. If I miss things I'm stuffed! Then again, last year I made 91 out of the 80 required to pass so I barely made that too. Hopefully I get it right this time too.

We used to do that...but we used their locks instead of shoes. Or we'd swap locks to different lockers lol
