Asian parent accent:
"A stand for A doctor, A scientist, A engineer!
"B, B stand for B garbage man!"

Hello all, Asian here. Getting B as an overall grade is similar to getting shot by a bullet. In the face. Repeatedly. If you're Asian. That is all.

Half Asian here. I don't actually have any obligation to get A's, but I do anyway. A B is perfectly acceptable.

Not asian, but as the smartest kid in school (Teachers have said I am the smartest kid they've ever met, no lie!), EVERY DAMN QUESTION no one knows goes to me. =P

Sometimes, I have to pronunciate for the Reading teacher. I'm serious, not bragging.

Smartest kid in the school is a friend of mine. He's Chinese. I used to be smart, back in the Philippines, I was Valedictorian in my private school in Kinder and Prep (basically Kinder is Kindergarten, and Prep is 1st grade here in the US). Still knowledgeable, but others are just smarter. Out of 950 students in the school, I'm going to make a bold (and arrogant, sorry :() claim that I am probably between the 7th-11th smartest kid in the school.

/end arrogance and ego claims

That sounds like one of my friends. She is insanely smart, a year below me but taking higher level classes than me, and she gets upset if she gets below a 98 or so on assignments. As far as I know, she has gotten A's her entire life.

I just don't really study for tests, since I mostly know it all already. Good thing I love reading. If I get a B, I'm happy. Usually, I only get 2-4 Fs a year.

I put a solid effort into my work but I don't go overboard and let myself get stressed about it. Keeping with the goal to do well but not get stressed about it, I don't take any honors classes or any of that. I took Intro to Algebra in the 7th grade, which was considered honors, but at the end of the year, I felt I didn't really grasp the concept, so I went back to normal Math the next year and familiarized myself with it. I never study for tests, but I can usually expect a grade in the low 90s, occasionally 100s or over, but usually a 92 or so. I hear other kids in my classes get paid for good grades, but I've never really mentioned it to my parents, so I usually just receive a nice comment or my dad letting me know he's proud. That's always nice.
As such, my grades are:

A B in Math, meh.
A B in Photography (I missed one assignment and I couldn't make it up).
An A in TV & Film (The teacher's quite lenient with his grading).
An A in PE for showing up.
An A in English; I always do well in English.
An A in Physics for doing the work, not really a hard class at all.

So overall, pretty normal grades for me; haven't gotten all As since maybe the 6th grade, but everything was easy back then. :p

Here are mine (8th grade):

94.9 - English 8 Honors (Had a few mess-ups during the beginning of the year. I've got it sorted out and now I hope it climbs. Not yet updated.)
99.64 - Social Studies 8 Honors (Easy, just remember the textbook and do the notes.)
97.17 - Geometry (Same with English, made a few stupid mistakes due to summer break, now I'm slowly but surely climbing.)
102.33 - PE (Just do what they say and show up. Get extra credit for running fast mile times and daily run times.)
95.83 - Science (Again, made some stupid mistakes in the beginning of the year. Definitely getting better grades. Haven't updated the grades in 2 weeks, though. Had 2 tests during that time.)
102.88 - Art (Easy class, I took painting and drawing lessons as a kid so I'm familiar with most of the concepts etc.)

I know I can do better in the second trimester.

Not Asian, though my parents are like Asian parents, they see I have an 89 and I get castrated. I am the smartest kid in my class, but my favorite teachers daughter who is a senior is smarter than me.

My grades:

Agriculture: 92
This is the first time I've ever taken the class. Being raised as a city boy, all the farming stuff seemed foreign to me.

Language Arts: 96
Pretty easy. Just follow directions.

Algebra I: 97
Actually, I HATE math. The reason I got grades this high is because of me being the only one in the class to do extra credit. I also got it from grading the teachers' papers when she was out of school because of an abdominal injury. (She is really nice, but handicapped because she was caught in an gas explosion years ago.)

P.E.: 100
Just show up and you get an A.

Reading: 101
I love to read. Plus, it also helped getting a 107 on the book report, which was worth 10% of your grade.

Science: 96
Easy.

Social Studies: 99
I love history. So, even without studying (because I knew most of it already), I got this grade. I think I messed up once in the quarter.

I'm not brilliant by any stretch of the imagination. I do make good grades. My report card this quarter is:
94: English 101 (College English class I get to take in high school)
100: Construction and Framing
100: Work Experience
100: Work Experience(I get to leave school at 11:45 and go to work everyday :))

My ACT is a 29 right now.

Can one of you Americans explain to me what a trimester is? We don't anything called that over here in Blighty

A trimester is a third of a school year. Instead of being split up into two parts (semesters) or four parts (quarters), some schools, including my alma mater, split their years into three parts.

What makes it more confusing is schools that use a quarter system but Summer is part of that, so only 3 quarters in a standard academic year. Or schools that have a summer session but generally only two academic terms, which could be argued as a trimester system but is generally regarded as a semester because the academic year is just 2 terms.

Oh thanks, we just have 3 terms split into 6 half terms. Basically we got to school for 6-8 weeks, then we have a week off. (which is the half term holiday) Then another 6-8 weeks back then the big holiday (Christmas, Easter of the 6 week summer holidays)

Just got my SAT scores in this morning, scored a 1920. 590 reading, 700 math, and 630 writing. Still probably not good enough to negate my quite frankly poor transcript. :/ If anything it just makes me look lazy. But of course, that would be a correct assumption.

Congratulations buddy! Not a bad score

We have four groups of 9 weeks, two 9-weeks makes a semester.

I have 4 groups of 9 weeks too.

I have this. Our school uses 4 hour and a half blocks a day. After Christmas break, we change schedules with 4 new classes until summer break starts.

Stayed after school today for anime club
