We have IDs but don't have to wear them, or even need them at all. We just use the ID number that never changes per student. #2163ForLife
Where I go, we have student numbers, which are usually 6 or 7 digits and are needed to log in to the computers. Not sure how the system varies between districts. The high school I'm at is on the same district as the elementary school I went to, so I still have the same student number I got in elementary school. I forget when student numbers were added, but I think it was at some point mid to late in my elementary years. I just don't remember the exact timing.

Well just finished up last day and now I have SPRING BREAK! I had a Spanish test today hopefully it puts my grade to a B-

My school is the exact same

Thank god yoga is over. Didn't really enjoy it. Going to get back to training for the Pacer test. Looking forward to do that free hug event tomorrow, really hope we make a few peoples day! The Senior class has finally decided to ask for suggestions for the graduation song. As of right now there are ten songs in the running and the one I picked is in that ten!

Also, my school made this during our pep rally for Wear Yellow For Seth

I don't even have school tomorrow. I have a 4 day Easter weekend. By the way, what are the song suggestion standings?

And I have two weeks' holidays because it's the end of term.

Actually, my students have two weeks' holidays because it's the end of term. I have a hundred and twenty papers to mark.

Other news from today that I haven't mentioned: Today in chemistry we say videos of alkali metals reacting in water. A small amount of cesium in enough water can blow up a bathtub. Potassium produces a flame. The teacher mentioned that when she was in high school, there were alkali metals available for school use, but not anymore, and that they had to be stored in oil.

We saw Richard Hammond exploding a bath tub in Chemistry as well... well, him just commentating.
Mine would actually be considered 000002163 I think, but I only need to insert 2163 for the Cafeteria and to get a book, and to get on the computers.
I don't have to enter anything. I just have to get my ID scanned.

Wow, funny enough we watched the same one in our Chemistry class last year. Then afterwards we tried emulating it, but instead in these small saucers. All I have to say is, the saucer nearly exploded.. Of course it wasn't cesium we used. Then a week later we blew flammable bubbles and tried igniting them while they were in the air. We charred a few spots in the ceiling.

Turn down for what and happy are #1 and #2. Those are the only two that the students talk about on the news. My suggestion was Stay Awake by Example and that's sitting in 5th. I'll edit this with the list once I find it, can't remember all the songs off the top of my head.

My class song wound up being "We Are Young" by Fun. Real logical choice there.... It just shows that people only care about the songs that are popular and not the ones that are actually good. I didn't even bother to suggest a song because 99.9% of the songs were all pop and the only good one (a Wheezer song that I can't think of the name of it off the top of my head) was getting blown out by a landslide.

Sigh. I'm not even sure how the grad song system works where I go. But I haven't even started Grade 12 yet.

Finally the list its now for the top 5

#1: Turn down for what by lil jon
#2: Happy by Pharrell Williams
#3: Its Time by Imagine Dragons
#4: Change by Taylor Swift
#5: Stay Awake by Example

(To be kind of honest, I want Its Time to win)

I don't like any of those songs.

It's not an uncommon problem. Sometimes it seems my students are only aware of songs and films that have been released in the last five years. Mention a song or film from before 2010 and all you get is a blank stare.

I only have one full day of school this week, which is today. Tomorrow is a half day because the staff has an active shooter drill in the afternoon. Thursday I have to go to Fargo for a vocal/instrumental contest. Friday is prom setup since I am a junior, so I'm forced to work on that. So that's my week in a nutshell.

Hey high school students
I like it when they pack up five or ten minutes before the bell actually goes.

I generally don't like it when students are late, especially when we only have a single forty-minute period. So I will try and get everyone out the door on time, but it doesn't always happen. And in my experience, both as teacher and student, students usually only hear about half of what the teacher says when they are packing up.

Hey high school students

I hate the teachers that do this. I don't mind keeping us 5-10 seconds after the bell to finish handing something in or reading something, but when they keep us 20+ seconds after the bell it becomes stupid. For me, it wasn't a problem in High School, more of a problem in Middle School.

Sometimes my teachers will get mad if we pack up 2-3 minutes early.
