AS level exams start tomorrow, and all over by the end of may. Start with 2 on Tuesday, and have 11 by a week in Friday, and been away walking all weekend, so no revision done. Fairly important 10 days for my life ...

Har har har.. our exams do not start until mid June. Once exam week starts, since the only class I have this semester that has a final exam is Social Studies I only have to go 1 day that week (Day of the SS11 exam). :dopey:

My other 3 classes just have a big test except Auto tech, I'm not sure if there's a test for that class.

I'm not sure about prom, I mean I've got over a year till it happens for me but I don't know if I want to go.

Go.

The actual prom itself will most likely be a letdown, but it's the things surrounding it that make it worth it. A good before-prom meal and then after-prom shenanigans with your prom group (if you have one) are what make the night, and the memories. We went to a Hibachi steakhouse beforehand, which was excellent, and then after the lackluster dance we went bowling. 8 people in tuxes, prom dresses and bowling shoes.

Senior prom was the only high school dance I ever went to (and remains the only real dance I've ever been to that I actually danced at), but I'm very glad I did.

EVERYONE SHOULD POST PROM PICTURES!!!!!!!1 :dopey: :p (kidding of course)

On the topic of prom, one of my friends in my group made a prom suit for himself out of duct tape (and did a very good job), including vest, jacket, shoes, and boutonniere (flower on the jacket).

Anyone else get the feeling this thread will be dead in 2 months?

All this thread needs is a few more Australians/New Zealanders and it'll be fine. :D

...and for the record, I haven't been in high school for a year and can still contribute. So I don't think summer vacation will be an issue. 👍

I think there's a scholarship or something, that you can get for making a prom tux/ dress out of duct tape

My best friend is seriously starting to piss me off! He keeps trying to convince me how much cooler Cross Country and Track are, and how much more skill they require than marching band. Forget what we argue about, how can I learn to just ignore it? It's inevitable that it will be brought up every day.

Tomarrow I have a math exam in Statistics, Since i'm always nervous which causes me to fail, what could I do this time to change that? I want to bring a good grade, but even when I study, I pass on the edge of failing..

I've got the AP exam for that tommorrow. There are literally parts of the test where their purpose in existence is to trick you. One of the free response ones is designed with a mental wall in it to halt your progress. I just wanna get through it and keep my sanity.

Today went better than I expected. Had an English test, thank the non existent god it felt easier than I expected. I was kind of rusty on the material, but the test seemed pretty easy. Don't know how well I did, but it's good that I didn't feel out of place. English is one of my strong suits. So is math. One thing I might want to panic about is tomorrow's math test, which is Decision 2013. Unlike in most other cases, I actually don't feel so confident about this test. The good thing is that my honors getting score is based relative to others' marks, so I could possibly get a crummy mark and still get in. But I'm still not fully confident.:scared: We'll just have to wait... I got a 93.6 on my previous test, but I'm not sure about this. You never know until after the fact.

Worm, frog or cat? It won't be as bad as you think.

Depends on who the person is. For me it was worse than I thought, I don't want to dissect a creature for no reason. It's wrong in my opinion. Why do we need to know what is inside a cat, or a rat (in my position in Yr 10)?

Doing dissections this week in biology. I really hope I can get out of it somehow.

I can see your reasoning as to why you doesn't want to do it. Just tell them that you don't want to take part in such a disrespectful, cruel and pointless activity.

I was the very few people on my class who would even touch the sheep's heart, let alone cut it up. Pretty squeamish for 16-year-old guys. I feel ashamed :guilty:

Speaking of exams, I've got my mid-year mocks coming up in a few weeks including French, Maths, Classics (FTW :D) and English Literature. We're doing A Street Car Named Desire, numerous Poems and Henry IV Part 1.

Hoping that everyone in my Classics Class pass (lol triple "ass") an essay that we were set a few weeks ago, our teacher's gonna shout us something called "Pizza Roulette". One slice in each pizza will have the 3am Reserve sauce, but no one knows which slice it is :trouble:

You feel ashamed that other people have a sense of respect to the dead?

It's not that. They just think its gross. I'd understand if they were vegan or something. But they were just going "Eww!"

About to leave to take one of my most dreaded exams:

Int. Maths Paper 4 (the 2 hour 15 minute one).

On the bright side, after this one I've only got one Maths exam left. But still...

Are you vegetarian? If not, then all the meat on your plate has gone through much worse than what you're dissecting has. Chances are that it had died a natural death or had been bred to be used for dissection.

Anyway, 2 hour stop-work meeting on Friday = no school :D

We used Cane Toads in year 8.. My groups toad still had a moving cricket inside its stomach :lol:lol:

Generally, if you let your teacher know that you are uncomfortable with the concept, they won't force you to do it. There were two guys in my class when I was in year nine who could not stand the sight of blood. They let the teacher know in advance, and they were given the period off (though they were expected to make the class up through theory content - just just didn't have to do dissections).

If you're really uncomfortable with dissection, the school won't force you to do them.

It's a sheep. Do you expect them to hold the same reverence for a leg of lamb?

We used mice. I still remember my lab partner naming it "Julie" and attempting to resuscitate him while his entrails were everywhere. I remember, because he managed to rupture the intestines and the smell was enough to give us headaches for the rest of the day.

But I don't have to physically dissect that, and it doesn't start out on my plate as an intact animal. And even then, eating is for survival, but dissecting multiple animals in a science classroom isn't for survival. It's not necessary.

Huh?

We did that earlier this year (Year 9) with a pigs heart and pigs lungs. I was OK and so was most of the class but there were one or two people that had to get some air. I found it most fascinating though how all of this stuff goes on inside our bodies subconsciously.

We were investigating the respiratory system in fish a few months back, which involved taking fish heads, and literally snapping the gill cover off, which was pretty disgusting.. Once my mate and I had finished looking at the gills, we decided to basically rip the fish into as many pieces as possible with a scalpel, for some reason, and the smell was actually horrific :yuck:
