I always go when I'm sick. Parents force me.

Let's be less straightforward. Never call parents stupid, they're probably doing it for a reason.

I'd say they're stupid. By letting their child attend classes whilst they're sick, they're not only compromising the health of any kids that associate with the sick child, but the sick child's learning is compromised, due to, well, being sick. If they were smart, they'd keep them at home and fuss over them and make sure they get a quick recovery. In my opinion, at least. :p

To get other kids sick so that they won't have to feel alone? Sorry, but I have very little sympathy for parents who force their kids to school when they're sick.

It depends on how sick my kids are. Coughing, runny nose, etc. but not running a fever and not contagious? You're going to school.

As a NP and a former ER nurse, my wife is worse than I am. As she's seen virtually everything there is to see, it comes as no surprise that no matter how bad you feel, you're still breathing, can see and can walk so you're fine. No sympathy at all.

My U.S. History teacher has an interesting position on teaching us. All he does is write a section or two from our textbooks on the whiteboard for classwork and that's it. Only time he does anything is tell us to quiet down when we get too loud. He doesn't even care what electronics we have out, as long as he can't hear them.

In Spanish, which happens to be in the same room as the U.S. History and Civics room, I sit all alone. The room is normally set up in rows, but my Spanish teacher puts them together in tables of four or five desks. I just so happened to be the odd person out of the class and am cast apart from people, but that's ok.

Yeah, a few of the kids at my school have been out the last few days because of sickness.

If the kid is non-contagious, as you said, then I wouldn't mind them going to school. But if the kid is constantly coughing, especially when he's right behind you in class, it becomes really annoying to the point where I almost wanted to punch the guy. :grumpy:

In that case, as the father of a child with Cystic Fibrosis (fyi - CF'ers as a general rule cough a lot, even when they're not "sick"), please don't. :p

And yes, I obviously know what you mean, and I agree. I don't want your sick kid getting my kids sick any more than you guys want to get sick. Sick.

Heh, don't worry. I can pick out the goods and the bads. I mean, one of the factors that made me mad at this particular kid is that he barely tries in class (it's only the fourth week of school and I can already tell), so I guess there's a bit of history that makes me mad at him.

Idiot kids who go to school when they are clearly sick. Ugh... can't stand them.

I still go to school if it's just a cold. Which generally happens to me twice a year (one when Autumn starts, and one when Spring starts. It's seasonal). I only take time off school if I'm feeling incapable of getting around. Which happened once last year where on a half day during spell 3 (only 3 classes on a half day so that was lucky) I started feeling as if I would faint or something. So I took the next day off, and good thing for never faking to be sick because my parents will believe me. I don't abuse that trust so that when I actually do need to take time off due to sickness, I am believed.

Yep, that's how it is for me. I think it's good for parents to work like this, as it will reach the children to be like that themselves and when they get a job they won't not go to work due to a slightly runny nose or a cough. But I guess you probably already knew that. ;)

Supposed to be going back after school to re-do a bit of coursework that I got a D on. However it has no effect on my overall grade of a C and frankly I'd rather focus on my current task which is 'Of Mice and Men'.
She said "I can call your parents and give you detentions but I can't make you" at least she understands that, because she won't make me. I hate English and want to spend as little time on it as possible.

I love how our school only charges 10$ a semester for the workout room.
And this ethernet speed is off the hook.

Going back to the discussion of being sick, well I'm currently sick and I'd love to stay home because I feel horrible. But the amount I'd miss would be too much and in all honesty, may result in a very poor grade. This year many of my classes are lecture based so just copying someone's notes won't cut it. I have to be there.

^ I'm sick, didn't go Monday. I'm pretty much over it but still am stuffed up beyond belief. meh.

Also, our school's internet is like 2 Mb/s. -_-

I almost crashed the whole network for the school once by torrenting a few gigs of Deep Space 9 and Skyrim (For no reason) XD

Our school still uses dial up.....

My house has 2mb/s and it's like a god send XD

I tried the speedtest at my school the other day. 75 mb/s vs. 80 kb/s at home. :banghead:

I am a haxball God.

So far this year, I have been late to English 3 times. I have English after lunch on some days (A block schedule) and people really cannot walk in the hall. I have to go from my cafeteria (First floor, near my locker) Up the stairs (My locker;Second floor almost above the cafe) to the other side of the school (English Class) in about 5 minutes. Luckily I have no detentions...yet...

Today really sucked. At tech we had to clean out the tool room and then sweep up the floors. That wasn't do bad but we had to sweep the garage out and we set off the fire alarm from all the dust, evacuating the whole school AND having a fire truck come to the school. So my teacher wasn't happy. So then, while waiting for the bus to my school, I hear of a bomb threat at my school and that we were gonna have to wait at tech. So after waiting outside for an extra half hour, we went back to our classes for another half hour. If you could get a ride you could leave but I didn't know my moms cell number so was stuck there.

When we FINALLY got back to school, we were sent to third block. Which my teacher then sent us to lunch. Which we were then instructed to go to the auditorium. So we sat there for 30 minutes doing NOTHING and we finally it dismissed back to third block. At least we got to watch Apollo 13. But we didn't finish the damn movie, I wanted to see the end!

TL;DR

Today was pretty good. Japanese class was funny. Ahh good times. the whole class called a black guy Tyrone the whole time, 2 kids squirted a whole bottle of lotion on the teachers chair and we learned 8 new katakana
