1.8? There's no reason to blame it on ANYTHING. I have about a 3.8 GPA as a freshman, and I'm one year ahead of everyone in math, in Algebra II.

Oh whoops. I guess I'm not good enough ._.

Seriously? I went into school with the wrong mindset... I blame this on Freshman year because I didn't do anything. I'm not blaming this on classes. I'm basically saying I ****ed up. :grumpy:

I'm pretty sure that our physics class has made a sub cry.
She's Indian, (Actual Indian) and according to our normal teacher are "A bunch of white kids from Fergus." Which is all rednecks. We didn't really listen to her, or do anything that she wanted us to do, rather, we just started throwing stuff at each other.
We had a eraser fight today. Not the kind where you break off a little piece from the end of your pencil, full out, big, eraser fights.

Bruises were dealt. Posters were given puncture holes.

Fun day!
And we wonder why North America is getting its ass kicked in math and science...

My Geometry class is pretty disciplined. No one's an idiot and about 80% of the things said here haven't really been done in mine. Suppose that's just a benefit of living in a pretty nice town.

EDIT - And I'm a class ahead of everyone, as well. Taking Geometry in 8th Grade and next year looking to take Algebra II as a freshman. Sadly I'm the worst at giving advice, so phill don't blame yourself. Just try your best and at least distinct yourself from those who are generally just slackers.

My school is extremely disciplined. Our town is crap, but it is small. For instance, I've only recalled one incident where marijuana was brought to school and no incident when weapons were.

Now, that town of about 10,000 fifteen miles away from us? Different story...

We're a suburban town of about 90,000 ruled by soccer moms. The school had no incident of marijuana (except for the schools in the lower part of the town... mostly attended by the worse/poorer part of the community) because our school is attended mostly by middle class to mid-high class families. Weapons? What? The High School, there was one incident where a (female) teacher did... certain things to two male students, but nothing else that is major.

Today, in Integrated Math 2 (A class which I take not because it is required, but because I wanted a 4th year of math)
"Ryan, how do you do this problem?"
(Explains Exponential functions)
Teacher- "Mr. West!" (Writes my name on the board, meaning 'You have lunch detention')
"Excuse me? You weren't teaching, a fellow student didn't understand your lesson. I was trying to help"
"Well you were talking, thats a lunch detention"

I dont think so. I opened my student handbook/planner. Teachers can only do 4 things for discipline;

-Assign up to an hour of detention after school
-Bar the student from class for that day and the next
-refer to administration for further action
-call a Parent/Teacher conference

Lunch detentions can only be assigned by an administrator.

"Mr. Slinkard, if you would give me a punishment within the scope of your authority, I will comply. But you will not see me at lunch time"

"Then you will be suspended from my class for not showing up to Lunch Detention"

No. Not happening. He can't make me be in trouble for something he's not allowed to do anyways. I see this panning out 1 of 2 ways.

A. I give in, and accept his in-school suspension. The upside is I dont have to be in that bloody class for a day, and I can actually work on some AP homework instead.

B. I don't comply, and instead visit the office where the admin will go "Wow, really Ryan? You were talking in class. Just be quiet, yeah? Ok, go back to 2nd period"

Either way, I win.

(This isn't a "Oh, look Ryan is a badass" this is "Oh, Ryan isn't going to waste his lunch in the classroom that he hates, especially when he did nothing wrong")

My school recently had a drug problem and somebody did pull a knife out on somebody else, but other than that we are golden for our 300 person PreK-12 School in a town of 374

If every science teacher is like my Chemistry, Anatomy, and Physics teachers then America would be light years ahead of every other country in math and science. The only drawback is that the suicide rate would skyrocket because she is so boring.

I go to a small school in a sort of small town and I don't think there's been any drug problems or people bringing weapons

It's high school, there's always going to be anarchy, fights, and lifted, open piped trucks drifting out of the parking lot.

Im replying to this thread because my senioritis Is kicking in.

I'm a senior in a small town Texas high school. People around here are either out doing cowboy stuff, getting high, or sleeping. Me? I play Gran Turismo. NO ONE around here has ever played it. It's hard to find real competition. But, since this high school is filled with a bunch of teachers who don't care, I can play Gran Turismo in class(:

I'm in study hall, and saw this thread, so this is keeping me occupied. I think I'll take a trip to the school store and get some chips or tic tacs or something.

We don't have anything for snacks in my school besides Diet Coke 👎 and Sprite Zero :yuck:. Our school's nutritionist is a total health freak.

You are lucky.

When I was at school all we got was water.

Then a hell if a lot has changed in the last (almost) 20 years. [/oldcoot]

Crap. Has it seriously been that long...? :scared:

My German teacher is seriously the best teacher I've ever had. He's really funny, which helps because it creates a relaxed environment and helps with learning. He also knows a lot about Germany, which not only do I find to be very interesting, but it helps to understand a culture when learning a foreign language, at least in my opinion. This way, when I hopefully visit Germany, I will know of the proper etiquette as well as customs of the German people. Today we just went over a worksheet, then he talked with us for a while, and showed us a really weird German video. I really wish I could remember the name it was so funny. I had no idea what was being said (I'm only I'm German I) but it was funny.

Since when were Diet Coke and Sprite Zero healthy in the first place?

+1 to this. Diet Coke is actually less healthy than the full fat stuff because of all the extra flavours they put in it. Anything with a good amount of minerals and electrolytes is good

The school can't sell Gatorade or Vitamin Water because it has "large amounts of sugar." It's also partly the government's (Michelle Obama's) fault too. School lunch has gone from bad to worse in the past 4 years. I have stopped eating it because it tastes like the cardboard it was shipped in.

Our school lunches are pretty good. They sell pretty decent bacon butties in the canteen.

Fact. School lunches turned **** in 2007. (at least for me.)

I never eat in the lunchroom anyway. Every now and then, I would get a french fry or a piece of something from one of my friends. The food would taste OK back in elementary school. After that, school food was untouched by me.

Our schools lunches are absolutely disgusting. We had snack machines, the took them out. We have Intense Milk and Orange Juice, Propel, Aquafina and other flavored water and the small Gatorades. Ae also have a Diet Pop machine, they took the old pop machine out. They used to serve slushies, popcorn and other stuff with lunch too as snacks. Not anymore.
