in a motor mag they had the 300kw HSV GTS Commodore vs a BMW M5 and a merc.
and the holden did well.

and they said the HSV GTS Commodore got a 8:40 on a outlap

I would have to say the GT is what I'm looking forward to most. Don't get me wrong, I like Holdens and have been a huge fan for years, but I see this black GT pass my uni everyday and it's absolute animal. Can't wait to try one in the virtual world. :)

Place in Highpoint Melbourne said I can pick my copy up tomorrow, they must have got the game delivered around lunch time. Anyone lucky enough to work at one of those stores and have a copy already? :D

hey man, aussie cars are pretty good
but i found two things funny
1) the new Pontiac GTO is just a re-badged Holden Monaro, whats up with that.
2) in america, the Ford GT is a remake of the famed Ford GT40 that won the Le Mans so many times in the 60s. Yet the aussie Ford GT is this 2 door sedan... thing.
WTF? Did australia get the real Ford GT? If not, are they aware of the real ford GT's existence.
Cause its not just america that got teh real GT, Europe, and J-Pan got it too. Well, kinda Japan.... People import a lot there. And obviously Polyphony likes it.

The GTO is a rebadged Monaro (with some small changes) even in real life, made here in Adelaide Australia.

The Australian GT is not a Ford GT it a FPV Falcon GT (Its 4 door which is based off the Ford Falcon sedan) and no we dont get the Ford GT and yes we are WELL aware of the Ford GT.

I knew that the GTO was a re-badge i was just stating it. Hahah.
But I figured ya'll knew about the Ferd GT.
So the FPV is australia's SVT?
FPV = Ford Performance Vehicles
SVT = Special Vehicle Team

am i right?

Yeah pretty much,

but the original Falcon GT's of the 60's and 70's were Ford Falcon GT's not FPV Falcon GT's.

Big thanks to Cobra427 for those times - i would buy him a beer if the internet allowed for that!:) Played GT4 in gamerush, chapel st prahran today. I bet you'd never guess the first thing I did was take the monaro round the nurb... then I had to let someone else play.. I got ten secs slower than the time cobra posted, but twas my first go at the nurb, and with a crapped up shop dual shock... man I can't wait until tomorrow.

hey mates i dont own none of those cars yet! but i do know that they resemble my every day driver a svt contour. the euro version is called a mondeo. and the gt3 version was kick a**. i hope they handle as good as my svt. do you guys think if ford still made them in the us that they would be like the aussie version.(my svt is ff at about 220 hp) 👍

The FPV F6 Typhoon and GT are based off the Australian Ford Falcon. These are Rear-drive cars (as opposed to the front drive Mondeos) boasting a range of engines from a 4 litre DOHC In-line Six through to the range topping 5.4 litre DOHC V8 found in the FPV GT.

The Mondeo was sold for a time here in Australia alongside the Falcon. The Mondeo is a much smaller car than the Falcon, probably classified as a mid size rather than outright family sized sedan as the Falcon is.

The bottom range 4 litre DOHC six produces around 240hp standard while the toplin V8 produces around 380 horse power standard. They also are considerably heavier than a Mondeo would be.

So all said and done, these are very different cars to Contours / Mondeos.

what was i gunna quote?

anyway, given this is the .au thread, what is the "goat" like compared to what it actually is?

won't find out for another 7hrs.

I like the FPV GT...then again I liked the Falcon in the last Gran Turismo.
The GT was easy to setup...had it tweaked in a few minutes. Good power and handles like it's on rails.

never call the new GTO a goat ..... dont care what anyone says the new GTO is not a GTO .... not a Judge nor a goat ....

CEG?

My first car in GT4 was the FPV GT. I like it quite a bit.

I am rather interested in the likeness of performance numbers between the "Re-badged Holden" and the real deal. Will they be the same? The GTO is actually supposed to be heavier :yuck:, filled with more sound deadener and re-sealing for doors and windows to withstand the North American winters. D'you guys think PD incorporated this into the new GTO?

Car and Driver and Motortrend list the weight (or mass for the pedants) as 1733 kg. Yahoo's has gone on a diet and somehow weighs 1689 kg.
Holden list it as 1692 kg.
The difference is around 2.4%, which is negligable IMO. If you want to drive a Monaro and call it a GTO, then go for it, they're practically the same.

I picked my copy up today...transfered the money from GT3 and got a GT right away.

It's now blown, with bigger brakes, exhaust, chip and some driveline mods.

Bit sluggish in lower gears, I'll get the racing box and start fiddling around with the gearing, that should help. Then fiddle around with the suspension to try reduce the understeer.

Might get the F6 after that, I hear they are nuts for drifting.

I've driven the Commodore and The Monaro now. They don't sound like the real versions sadly.
The Commodore is a great drive, it handles very well, very quick and fast, including the 1/4 mile.
I gave "Munro" a shot around Nurbrugring and it had a bit of under steer, I think I'll have to give it a better run tomorrow. :)

PC heres an old saying .... Cant say nothing nice then shut the F up!..... well maby thats not how it goes but it works

So people can't have an opinion unless it's positive. Real good.

The Monaro does sound crap. IRL it's not the most sonorous v8, but it's not that bad

does the Falcon GT have the stripes in the aussie version, and please tell me that you cant turbocharge the aussie v8's supercharging is ok

an opinion is one thing but trolling is another he said nothing that had anything to do with the topic he just posted to most likely upset people who like the cars....

Have you read the last few issues of MOTOR mag?:dopey:

Hows that piston slap, or oil consumption treating you or don't you even known an LS1 and just decide to quickly forget the problems Holden had? Not to mention faulty fuel senders, power steering pump failures.

Not all cars are perfect and it is a good car aside from its problems. For reference i've had 2 VU SS Ute's so yes i know about LS1 issues ;)

Had to drive the falcon GT for the I-B thing at Apricot hill. Its not that great, to muhc body roll and understeers ALOT when breaking. Might have a proper go with it later.
Edit: Why dont they have the 400hp GTS Coupe?

i wish they had more holdens in GT4
some of the good ones like the Maloo R8 ute or the monaro gts or even the clubsport
