You know, it's a shame really. They didn't put in the best cars Holden or HSV has to offer. Imagine it if they actually put in the HRT 427 or the HSV GTO. The Japanese crap cars would have had no chance. I think they didn't do it because they didn't want one of the fastest road cars in the game an Aussie V8- they're scared :scared: :scared: . Plus they didn't put in any Holden race cars. Our Holden V8 supercar would have cained, or even the mighty nations cup 427 Monaro, imagine it....          Sorry, got carried away.
oh well they put the tickford supercar in so boooyaaah :D Holden were too **** to even have a chance ;) Go the all mighty fords!

The HRT427 and the Monaro CV8 that raced in the Nations Cup series and the Bathurst 24 hour races are not related. The Nations Cup car was not based on the HRT427. They were two completley different projects. Both very nice cars however.

yes you are quite right, they are very different cars. however holden did present them as though they were twins and in some ways they are, as tenuous as the link may be ;)

now if you'll excuse me I need to be alone with that pic of those 8 throttle bodies...

I read an article in Street Machine magazine a few months ago about a company called Nizpro, who had upgraded an XR6 Turbo motor to crank out 1000HP. They were aiming for 1600HP. That would definitely scare the wife and kids. What's the max power you can get out of the XR6 derivatives in GT4?

The yellow HRT 427 Monaro that was pictured in the earlier post was 2nd place, I believe. The winner was Peter Brock's number '05' Red Monaro.
Here is a picture.

The yellow one came first in the 2002 Bathurst 24hr and second in the 2003 Bathurst 24hr while Brock's one came first in 2003.

I'm thinking about using Glenn Seton's XR8 in the 24hr race at the Nurburgring. What do you blokes think my chances are?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned here, but it would be interesting to compare the Pontiac GTO and the Monaro CV8. Has anyone done a comparison for these 2 cars in the game?

It's kind of annoying to see the Monaro given more HP in it's Pontiac-badged version, wonder why they did that...

Also I think the body shape on the CV8 is nicer!

Yeah maybe its the differing exhaust. The Pontiac GTO was made to sound louder and more American muscley than the CV8. Both cars 'should' be the bloody same for all intents and purposes. Was the engine tuned up at all for the yanks?
And yes the body shape of the original CV8 is what the car was meant to look like, the GTO just wrecked the cleaness, the subtlety of the monaro and made it a no taste yank tank.

haha, yes indeed. The GTO sounds different in the game, that's for sure, but I remember reading something about the engine being identical to the Monaro's. I suppose once you stick a muffler on the CV8 it will sound beefier anyway, if that's your thing :dopey:

Speaking of engine sounds, the most arousing note I am yet to hear in the game was from the Shelby Cobra! Now I know it's not an Aussie car, but you gotta admit that sound is nice and smacks of pure motoring goodness! BRRRRRRR! The handling on it is outrageous though :scared: it's great fun to try and control it while accelerating over a cornered crest (eg. the crest on the main straight of Laguna Seca).

PC
I'm blue blooded as hell, but Ford need to figure out handling doesn't sell and beef up the power. FFS the F6 is barely faster than the XR6T.

I think that Ford is being smart putting out cars with a few kw less power than Holden/HSV, they are effectively putting an end to or drastically slowing down the horsepower war that would otherwise ensue.
You only have to look at what happened in the 70's to see that a hp war isn't the brightest thing to do.

Handling does sell but it is to a smaller market than the hp market.

I'm pretty sure that in real life the '04 Pontiac GTO did have a better engine tune than the '04 Monaro. When the LS1 engine was first used by Holden in Australia it was rated at 225kw, the current model is 265kw - same engine, just a better tune and different exhaust (due to fueltank placement). By starting off with a detuned engine, holden has been able to steadily increase the power rating with every facelift, without having to make any mechanical changes.

Exactly, although I think the '04 Monaro was 235Kw's.

Updated lap times and added Pontiac GTO and Corvette Z06.

If anybody wants me to do more just let me know. 💡

Hey man, in my test the Commodore SS won, but I was driving :)

Anyway there is on more car that is famous in AUS that is in the same class as the 2 FPV and Holdens.

MAZDA 6

So add that in there....

Then if u have the cash buy them all again and do them up to max horse power, put racing tranny in, Racing Flywheel, Carbon Driveshaft, Triple Plate Clutch and of cause racing brake. then test the times and see what happens!!!

After doing the tests I drove each car around Midfield reverse in A-Spec. The SS wasn't as far behind the GT as B-Spec would have me believe but the F6 blew the other 3 away. Only problem with doing it myself is I can't replicate the same level of driving for each car, which B-Spec can (or at least better than me).

I'll try the Mazda6 next. 👍 I looked in to doing a lot of the Aussie market cars but not many are comparable to each other in the same way the Holden/Ford(/Pontiac/Chevrolet) group is.

I'm looking at doing a new thread with cars compared to a standard system, but it will depend on time constraints. :scared:

I had a look at the Mazda 6, there is 3-4 versions of it in the game I think, not sure which one will match the HP of the Fords and Holdens, any how the Commodore SS once done up has the second amount of HP of the Aussie Cars but then it handles alot better than any of the fords maxed out with HP, so it has a faster lap time. But as stock it lacks that little power it needs. The F6 has more power stock I believe so it wiped the floor alot easier. I love the handling of the SS at Full HP, I can get around trial Mountian in under 1'20 with it.

Just completed Nur 24hr with the Seto Falcon, finished 7 laps ahead of the M3GTR. I did have the engine tuned though, next time I'll try it untuned as the racing will be closer. Best Time was 6:56 and the GTR was around 7:23

As requested by eastley here are the stats for the Mazda6 (5 door)...

Tsukuba - 1,21.021
Nurburgring - 9,30.903
Trial Mountain - 2,03.605 1,55.945 1,55.467 average = 1,58.339

Obviously this car is not in the same league as the FPV's and Holdens.

Well done - Seto's Falcon should still win untuned as it does low to mid 7min laps.

I've added the XR8 to the Holden/Ford/FPV stats here...

Just did a massive burnout in a mates new Monaro (a black one) with the *cough..fake...cough* scoops on the bonnet. Felt pretty tough I must say.

PD really needs to get its burnout physics happening better... and so much smoke that you can't see the car!

umm I dunno where you guys got a Mazda being comparable to an SS Commodore or GT Falcon, its sort of like comparing a classic Mini to a Mustang.
