Who do you think is the most overrated thespian in tinseltown, and why?

NOTE: Envy, prejudice, sexual preference should not be a reason. It has to be a legitimate reason why you think they should search for anopther career!
 
George Clooney, Wesly Snipes and Kevin Costner are the worst actors of all time.

But, I like Three Kings, Field of Dreams, Dances With Wolves and thought Water World was OK.

I think Clooney and Snipes are awesome. Costner, not a big fan. I've seen his acting from really poor to brilliant.

I agree with EvilToast. Ben Affleck is one of the worst actors, excluding in the Kevin Smith flicks. He's OK in those.

Correct - Again... With a JCVD movie you knew what to expect - and it wasn't acting..

And I have to agree with those who said Ben Affleck is the most overrated actor... How the h3ll he managed to become such a huge success is beyond my limited capabilities of comprehension... I must admit he was somewhat ok as Will Huntings sidekick (also in the "Jay and Silent Bob strikes back" remake - "How do you like DEM apples ?"....)
 
Jennifer Lopez - all her films bombed, she can't sing either.

Tom Cruise (with a few exceptions)
Robert DeNiro (with very few exceptions)
Jeff Goldbloom
Will Smith
Arnie

I'm sure this list is much longer, but its monday morning and i can't think straight.

Denzel Washington (the man is made of wood).
Will Smith (STILL thinks that being black is the funniest thing ever)
Martin Lawrence (like Will Smith, but actually racist in the process)
Jennifer Lopez (having an arse, a bad singing voice and proclaiming you're from "the Block" does not make you an actress)
Ashley Judd (like Denzel Washington, but with breasts - I think - and less talent)
Adam Sandler (like I need to comment)
Ben Stiller (see Maddox)
Angelina Jolie (again, having an arse and massive mammaries does not an actress make. And stop pouting!)

Most underrated
Christian Bale

Highly rated and with good reason
Morgan Freeman
 
I'm suprised Keanu Reeves hasn't had a mention yet.

Like totally bodacious man!

I've never seen Denzel in any film where he's actually any good. The Bone Collector - appalling. That one with Virtual Reality (Virtuosity?) - worst film evAh. The Siege? Acted off screen by Bruce Willis!

Mind you, so did Marisa Tomei.


Keanu is good when he's acting Keanu (Bill & Ted, first Matrix). When he's acting another character he's tits (Chain Reaction, other Matrices).

He was damn good in Training Day and Man On Fire. Two of my favorite movies. He was OK in Glory, too.

Not seen Glory, but have to agree with you on Training Day and Man On Fire, two great films.

Vim Petrol does a great job of playing the same character in every film as well.

Come on, he can act - but chooses to play the same part in all his films, maybe he puts too much of himself into all his characters?
 
He plays similar roles an awful lot and you get the same results, I agree with that, but I think he's a great actor overall. As for Denziel Washington, he is a bit wooden, but in a role like in Man on fire, he was brilliant. Thats one of the best films ever and if anyones not seen it, see it now.

Have you ever seen 'this boys life' ? Now THAT was acting ! 👍 👍 I utterly hated him after seeing that movie, he did such a good role !

I thought Denzel was good in Remember the Titans and Much Ado About Nothing. I like most his movies.

Morgan Freeman is one of the greats, but I didn't become a "fan" until Se7en. Still the greatest performance by Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman in their careers, IMO.

Nooooooooooooooooo! Robert De Niro does crappy movie every once in a while, but still is a great actor, overall. Arnold Sschwazenegger was excllent for they types of movies he made. Of course, his career was over by the late 90's. He was too old. :(
 
Angelina Jolie overrated? Have you seen "Gia", and "Girl, Interrupted"?

She plays her parts fine, which sometimes requires cheesy acting (ie. Tomb Raiders I & II)
 
A lot of people see a bad role, or a role they don't like as bad acting. As for Arnold, he can't act, but he had superb screen presence, and that made up for it.
