As for practise races, they'll probably just be impromptu. Perhaps we could have one at Rome or Monaco.
 
I think what I'll do is keep the schedule aligned with the Miatas, while putting up practice rooms and having unofficial practice races on weekends.

I'll send messages to regulars who haven't been posting here as well, to get the thread active again.

Can't we start as soon as blackice gets back from vacation. Doesn't the miata series start back up almost a month from now (July 12?)? Why the additional delay?
 
Does he want us to wait for him to get back? Not trying to be a jerk by saying we shouldn't wait for someone who wants to race, but he has one participated in one race this season. Also, we could finish this season before he gets back (oraround thesame time) and start a new series that he can participate in from the beginning. If he does want us to wait then that is another story.

If that's what the two of you want so be it. A one month break has been long enough for me though. Two months off will kind of suck.

I can't make it on tonight. Mule, what do you expect we'll do for the practice races? (I don't want to spend time practicing La Sarthe on my own if we aren't going to be racing it until June.)

See. this is the issue with all this championship stuff. Quite frankly i dont give a hoot what position i finish in the championship. I didn't join the series so that i could win a championship. Unless money is being awarded it means nothing to win.

Why can't we all just get in a room and have a 45minute race evryweekend in the honda integra. Or whatever car Mule decides. Does anyone really care about the championship. I only joined the series because that way i could race against you guys. I dont care about championship position. If i couldnt make races i wouldnt tell the series leader to just hold off on the entire championship just because i wasn't going to be there. Thats just taking advantage of your good friendship with Mule by asking him to move the championship back if your not there. Why would Mule say No to a friend.

but that's not the point. Can we just race Integra's for god sake.

Just a quick heads up to verify that I'm still interested in the series. I may look inactive because I rarely post, but I'm keeping track of the thread and I'll be there once the series starts up again :)
 
Well, RT never asked me to push this back at all. I just figured that because they essentially have the same "roots," and a lot of the same drivers, it would be simpler to keep them aligned.

Saying that, Blaze makes a great point. I never really intended to have any "prize" for winning the championship. Mainly just bragging rights and glory and all that jazz. But I'm sure we can all agree upon one thing, and that is that we just want to race.

In that case, I've decided that we're going to have formal, non-points races for this weekend, and next weekend, until BlackIce gets back. Qualifying procedure and all that stuff will be the same as if it were a regular race.

The tracks I propose are:

Rome: It's become my favourite street course in this game, coming from someone who's not a fan of them in general. I didn't include any in the series, so we may as well have one here.

High Speed Ring: I wanted this in the series, however it's not really the best track for 300 HP FWD cars. But with Le Sarthe coming up, this could serve as a great test for the draft along Mulsanne. We can see where our limits are in terms of bump drafting going into turn 2, and apply that to the Mulsanne Chicanes.

Feel free to make any suggestions.

So I got to thinking, and another possibility for something we can do when this series is over, is something based on the Grand-Am Continental Tire series. We could have two classes, Grand Sport, and Street Tuner. It might be a bit more complicated than another spec series, but it could be fun. We have a lot of Premium options in terms of cars to use, as well:

GS:

BMW M3
BMW Z4M
Chevy Camaro
Dodge Challenger
Ford Mustang
Nissan 350Z / 370Z
Subaru WRX STi

ST:

Audi TT
BMW Z4 Roadster
Honda Civic Si
Mazda Miata
Mazda RX-8
VW Golf GTi

Could probably throw in a couple more for each, as well.

Is there anyone who wants to qualify tomorrow? Because you can if you want to. If not, I'll just open up another practice room anyway. I get home around 3:30 Eastern tomorrow.

I don't care about winner our imaginary championship; I care about competition.

I spend anywhere from 6 to 8 hours throughout the week preparing for our races. What I'm looking for is to pit my best effort against the best effort of others to test and improve my skills. When a race counts towards championship points I expect the point leaders to put more effort into preparing for the race than they would if the race is just for fun because they have already invested a decent amount of time and energy in to getting to the top.

Maybe I feel like this from racing with my real life friends, who in months of weekly races never gave me any sort of challenge because of their lack of preparation. The level of readiness in our championship races, on the other hand, is phenomenal. 👍
 
So no points race this Saturday, I will try to make it I work in the morning. Sorry been out, I will try to keep in touch, not that every one care. :)

im pretty sure we all know how to turn on the "serious switch" regardless of being a points thing or not.

It's not so much about taking the race seriously at the time of the event as it is preparing for the event in advance, in my opinion anyway. Not trying to offend anyone.

Wow, I would absolutely love to get into this! Unfortunalty I don't have my PSN password on my main GT5 account. But I could play on my other one and get a race modded DC5 pretty soon. Are we doing any races/qualifying tonight?

No clue. I went in with my set-up for La sarthe, and was wayy too slidey for me. Gonna fix that up today.
 
Probably wont be able race this weekend or next weekend. But I'm look forward to Le Sarthe, most likely will race in that one. Have some good racing guys!
