Racing is racing do what ever it takes to win(as clean as possible)
As clean as possible is a very gray area. I try and drive in a way that only 1 out of a 1000 times will I ever take someone out. Some people drive in a way that this will happen at more of a 1 in 100 or 1 in 50 or maybe worse ratio.
things will happen that you can not control
This is true.. But is it out of your control, if you are going for contact, and push someone too hard. I understand that you can never fully predict what the car in front of you is going to do. So is it not the followers fault if the lead driver does something unpredictable, and the following driver knocks them off the course. If the following driver wasn't trying to tap the driver in the beginning this probably never would have occurred.
My concern, is that I have seen multiple footage of a driver jamming it late into a turn, hoping for the best. This to me is completely reckless. Just about anything that involves the following driver to guess, and enter at a speed that can cause contact, and push the lead driver off their line, as reckless. It is an unfortunate situation, because it is the lead driver that almost always gets punished for the following driver's "hoping for the best" attitude.
If it was my choice, I would punish anyone that purposely bump-passes. But I think just by discussing this, it is interesting to see the responses... and those that chose not to respond.
I think the main thing to remember here is that we are running a full series together. We will probably race with each other again in other series as well. This is not a few races here and there. This is definitely not a public lobby. I just think if you give the driver's around you respect for their race, you will get the same in return. Also, those around you, will want to race with you more frequently.
Admittedly, I always lean toward the clean side. Maybe too much. I would gladly take a 3rd place as opposed to possibly taking out the 1st and 2nd place racers.
I am sure all of us will take someone out accidentally at some point. We are all human. My point is that these accidents occur much more frequently around certain people. These frequently are the same people that think bump-passing is an ok thing to do.
