Horns...why?

I bet literally 1% of the users of gt5 actual use the horns. I'm sure most of you here have maybe listened to a few and changed a car or two just for the fact that you can. No one changes all there cars horns like they would paint or rims etc, but at least horns are an extra way to add some sorta customization to the game.

I hate them and they keep popping up all the time....at least give a description of what they sound like..what does horn number 47 mean?

They should be classified by frequency range: Low/Mid/High etc...at least you know what your sorting through. Even better list the frequency on the horn or name the horn by the frequency. In the beginning I tried a few horns but it was a major hassle to try and find one I liked.

How do u even honk the horn on the controller?
Push the L button down. If that doens't work going into options and configure it on your controller.

I agree 1% or less. Same experience as you! However I wouldn't say at least it's a level of customization. It's really worthless.

if only PD had put the effort into instead allowing standard cars to be fitted with aftermarket wheels, we would all be so much happier.

YES!! they dropped the ball on that. And some of the cars they consider "standard" is ridiculous. It was a cop out because they couldn't delay the game any more. Or it was getting too big for their britches.

Im one of the 1%, I love tooting as I pass other cars and ones that are in my way.

Now if colonel bogey and la cucaracha were available...

There were a few screenshots before release which showed indicator signals in the HUD (which were obviously later removed from the final game) and Kaz mentioned he intended to introduce a 'traffic-element' to GT5 which was also scrapped.
I think that's why we probably ended up with working horns in the first place, in traffic you need indicators and sometimes use your horn, since indicators are useless when racing they were probably removed whilst the horns were probably kept, as they already put the time and effort in, and it's a bit of harmless fun.
Oh, and real life roadcars do have working horns as well, just like working reverse lights, ability to produce smoke, sparks and skidmarks, etc.
So why not add them, especially since they already made them, albeit (at least according to my 'theory') intended for a different purpose perhaps.

Why? Because someone, somewhere would complain if they weren't included, and frankly, a complaint about a missing feature is more legitimate than complaining about a feature that exists.

To everyone moaning about horns: never look a gift horse in the mouth, especially when it's a gift horse from PD.

If that is the case, which it does sound like considering his vision. Then this would have been apart of the free roam feature, sounds like he was wanting to do a GT style TDU. I really don't understand why he would want to take the game in that direction, because that is not what GT is.

I recently went through the process of finding the LOUDEST horn that I had for a car that I'm starting a series with. It also has a droning quality to it when you hold it on.

I figure I'm going to have fun giving guys a blast mid race.

But on the track it doesn't really sound like that much noise, perhaps it's different to outside racers.

Sound is more directed to the front of the car than the rear. That's why it's always louder when you honk looking behind yourself.

I have nothing against the horns that are able to be used when driving, but their being able to customised is going 'too far'. I use those two words because there are a huge number of flaws in GT5 that time could have better been spent on, the greatest of which is the enraging omission of the 400m/1000m/Max Speed tests. :banghead:

The only thing I noticed good about horns is this. When Im online and in a heated race, I can tell if the person behind me has a DS3, cause they are trying so hard to catch me, they keep pushing down on the left stick while turning..LMAO. Other than that they are pointless.

Then you'd never know I was a DS3 user because I never horn unless I do it deliberately.
