The cargo load of each truck is essentially the pot, which I think is incredibly tiny for cacti.


Anyhow, here's a little product demo for you guys. Quick disclaimer: I'm probably not using the compound or polish correctly. All product has been applied with paper towel.

While I was waiting in between coats of paint on my joystick controller - which I'm now going to show a photo of because I want to gloat about it, I was sampling and comparing the polish and wax I have on me.

I'm eventually going to get this thing to shine for photos, but I need to know which product to use:

From left to right: Turtle Wax Polishing Compound (and scratch remover), Meguiar's Ultimate Polish, Turtle Wax Protectant.

I scrubbed each product on a flat surface of plastic with paper towel. See the results for yourself:

The photos were actually screencaps of a video I took which lets us get a better sense of the shine.

But yeah, if you guys want a quick & dirty (irony) way to make your cars look super shiny, you can use spray-on wax.

Cool custom car pic share, McZ 👍, i really like the flat ally base of that black passion car, that, combined with the white wheels reminds me of a skateboard/scooter aesthetic.
 
That looks really nice. I like the detailing and interestingly you decided to wash the panel gaps. I tend to avoid that as it doesn't look 'right' on this small a scale.

But I'll be the first to ask... why is it gold? :yuck:
 
Great work, with the use of the Gundam marker on the panel gaps, Andy. 👍 It's a shame about the bumpy paint finish (same with the VW Porsche, love the colours though).

Thought i'd test out a wheel fit on the RWB. Some may remember my custom wheel attempt i did on the yellow S2000 a short while back.. the acrylic i applied to the rubber tyre worked at first, but it started to wear away after a while, :( So back to the drawing board, luckily i came across a tip on another site and decided to utilise it, it involves stretching black vinyl tube by heating it in boiling water, and it seems to work (just need to trim it a bit neater with a scalpel). As you'll see by the pics, i need to make the wheel barrel a little less deep dished and there's still plenty of work required in shaping the arches/fenders.

Because Dream Cruisers.

All Dream Cruisers will sport an unusual colour choice. All colours must be metallic. All Dream Cruisers must be done with nail polish.

Those are the parameters to this project. That is why the "paint" is bumpy. 👍
 
Well, you just described what I'd call a nightmare, but to each his own I guess.
 
It's not too bad. I'm going to try thinning an entire bottle next time to see how that goes. It's only a matter of time until I become a god at this. :lol:

Seen this Golf and got it because I thought it was cool. :) I felt like it needed more than what it has so I gave it some details to make it looks better. :)

You're good at getting the detailing clean on the headlamps (except for the one spot I just noticed). What are you using?

Something interesting I thought of is I noticed with this Golf it says Fahrvergnugen on the sides. ;)

Was trying to remove the tampos off a Skyline last night. Ended up removing some of the paint. I screwed up a '59 Caddy as well. Ruined my night, becuase now that's 5 hours of extra work tacked on my schedule.

Enjoy having to repaint because low quality HW factory paint.
 
Repainting isn't a problem. It's jut that I had an idea for another quick project which only involved removing the replacing the tampos on the current black R34 Skyline to match the colour scheme of my joystick controller. The sparkly black paint was already alike so it would've been like no work, but now I actually have to put some hours into this. :grumpy:
 
My TRU put out a large Cars movie display weeks ago and I hadn't given it a second look until this week, when I came home with way more money spend on wheel donors than I should have spent. :scared:
 
Multi-tasking like a boss.

Removed tampos off 4 cars (the term shall from this on forth be called "acetoning"), cleaning up/prepping the Shelby Cobra for retry #3, stripped a Copo Camaro, painted it, wheelswap, axle-fitted and painted those wheels, nail polishing a XK8, painted and detailed a Skyline R34, painted, decaled and currently detailing a Custom '59 Caddy, painted a Surfin School Bus, swapped its wheels and lowered the front.

The Bus is done, only need to wax the body. The Camaro needs headlamp detailing and another layer of black to fix up the wheels, the Caddy needs gold detailing, that and the Skyline need new wheels, the XK8 just got wetsanded and needs several more thin layers of polish, the 120SE needs a few coats of clear and the lab rat is still being played with.

Collateral damage: 12 healthy doses of car paint fumes, damaged my painting gloves, lost 2 "ILLUSTRIOUS" decals (which is no biggie), dirty shirt that also smells like paint, pants with enamel paint on it, hands dirtied with enamel, acetone, nail polish and more car paint, and 2 less hours of sleep. 12 hours of labour right here in one day, folks. Enjoy.

I'm heading out to grab 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper. I'm dying for some smooth gloss finish.
 
Well I will be honest and I don't mean to be a smart alec, but it actually is circular, it just doesn't look like it in the photo. :crazy: The Golf actually looks a lot better in person, than it does in the photo. ;)


Anyway, here are a some customs that where recently completed. ;) (will show process later)

This right here is Custom '62 Chevy my dad did that helped him with. He did the drilling and the painting and I did the wheels and the chassis modifications. ;) I admit the front wheels are alittle small but they look good on it. :) Unfortunately I don't have the work in progress photos because most of what was done was when I wasn't around to take the pictures.:indiff: My dad is thinking changing the wheels sometime soon because Torque Thrusts is what he wanted from the beginning.

Well there several different ones that have been used in the show throughout the years, I have been watching it long enough to know. ;) Crocker does have a black one that resembles the Combat Medic (like the one I done) which sometimes has the words and sometimes it doesn't. There is another one just like that is red with white lettering and then there is another that is vice versa of that, all of which resemble the Combat Medic. ;) Then lastly there is the other one that is black with white letters, except it looks more like the Mystery Machine. ;)

Plenty of options there. ;)
