So how did you find it?

Gran Dorifto video?

You saw it somewhere?

You heard of it somewhere?

oR have you known drifting for a long time?

or other?

Been doing it long before I even knew it was called "drifting", and before I knew it was popular in Japan. But back then it was with blown Tbirds and Firebirds.

Playing Gran Turismo 2 with my EVO 6 RS and on Gridlewald (spelling?) on the hairpin before the chicane that is before the straight, I would always throw my car REALLY sideways on that turn.

But, I never really got super into it until I saw gran durifto where then I tried drifting whole courses and building purpose built drift cars. Thanks cudaman!

I started drifting when i got gt3.
I was driving with my Honda S2000 on Tokyo without TCS
when my car started drifting in the corners.
First it was really frustating and I hated it when my car spinned out but when I started playing with the gas and countersteering
I was suprised how funny it was.
At this time I didn't knew it was called drifting.Whe called it sliding.
Then I started downloading videos and photos.
Thats when the hole Japan D1 Series **** really got me.
Know I am the proud owner of all Initial D Series and movies.

At this time my Favorite drift cars are:

1.Hachi-Roku
2.200sx
3.S13
4.Rx-7 both
5.S15
6.Skyline the R32

Thats how a 200sx Type X looks like.
If someone can explain why the 180sx and the 200sx look the same.
I dunno.
The European Version of GT3 says 200sx and the Japan Version says 180sx but its the same car so whats the deal?

The number refers to the size of the engine. 180SX = 1,8L engine
200SX = 2L engine and 240SX 2,4L engine.

Onto the subject... i suppose it was when i read the GT2 manual..
It says that you can impress viewers with some tail-out action.

the first time I ever saw "Drifting" was watching rally racing on Speedvision. I also used to drift 4wd cars in GT2, but I didn't know what it was called at the time. I didn't really learn about actual drifting until I watched Initial D dvds.

The silver Blitz 4-Door R34?

I started myself drifting as a challenge, drifting hairpins on an Evo V. Then I went here I downloaded videos (Cudaman's videos gave to me a different way to drift), I'm watching now Initial D.....
I drifted a little in GT2 with high powered 4WD cars in racing. (oversteer exiting low/medium speed corners)
I have the PS2 and GT3 since january 2003, and GT2 since it was on the shops.

the link wont work option. but im sure its the same video... SIMPLY BECAUSE IVE NEVER SEEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT.. .... (yellow SUPRA 700hp)
IM GLAD SOMEONE ELSE HAS HAD THE PLEASURE of seeing it too..

i've seen the video, no its not the Blitz skyline :odd: its a white R32 GTS-t Type M in front of an FD3S. they are performing medium speed drifts...at night...on a mountain road in japan. they film inside the RX-7 as well as a chase car(can't keep up very well) 1700hp skyline???damn dude..if it takes that much horsepower for you to drift, your doing it all wrong. only reason most of my cars have over 300 is for a little more straight away power. the cars can drift stock if you set them up properly...except a few of the AWD, especially the R34. such a heavy car :irked:

as for the diff between a 200SX and 180SX..the 180SX are an older model, they were equipped with a CA18DET...made around 170hp, they later upgraded the engine to the SR20DET which made around 200hp with the original T25 turbo and without the variable valve timing (S14 upgraded to T28 turbo and variable valve timing, the final S15 makes 240hp  ) the body style stayed exactly the same. though there were quite a few different body styles...the Sil-80...ahh the Sil-80. Well..the silvia was a popular drift car, and of course you can't just go out and drift...so a few people ran into things. turned out the solid headlight style front-end was cheaper than the popup headlight style frontend of the 180sx, so they would simply fit a silvia front end to it. Nissan caught on and produced a run of 400 of these cars...very popular with the drifters. the standard silvia body is probably the best. more structural rigidity without that hatch back...which improves handling.

wow..what started me drifting???seeing it in person. my dad is a former employee of Sony and he made a few trips to japan. i went with him once..and one of his coworkers friends(a japan native) loved watching the stuff. so we head out to a mountain (hell i forgot the name, this was at LEAST 5 years ago) and we watch 'em go. it wasn't really racing..i think they were practicing. saw 1 skyline, lots of RX-7s of the various models, and just as many AE86. i didn't know crap about cars then so i can't tell any specifics. over the years ive gathered probably every drifting video on the net. unfortunatly i can't practice it very often in real life...i own a honda prelude (FF :banghead: ) but im lining up a silvia project, maybe even a Sil-80 replica ;)

A TV presenter called Tiff Needell here on british TV. He takes new cars and thrashes the hell out of them. He does drifts in the powerful RWD cars like AMG mercedes and stuff, and also in subarus etc.

GT1 got me into trying it myself (the Driving Manual has details on how to drift a real car!!)

Been doing it ever since, but GT3 has let me get really good at it cos of the realism (and the simulation tyres)

Not tried it in real life...... yet

The supra vid is from Japanese tuning peeps 'JUN'. The full vid has specs in japanese and an interview with the team leader, but the driving is awesome. He drives it as fast as he can around the track a few times without drifting, then does a final lap drifting every corner, friggin mental.
