How do you intend to play GT5? (HDTV-SDTV/PC monitor/wheel/controller)

My home theater just improved so I will update

Sony Bravia KDL-46V5100 (46"/120hz/24p/MotionFlow: ON)
7.1 sound using whatever audio codec PD throws at my system. 12" sub
Driving Force GT
Sony PS3 bluetooth headset

I have a 5 year old 720p projector that gets up to 160" in my garage but unlikely I'll play GT5 with it. Racing games feel awkward on screens that large.

Already Own: 32" Sony HDTV
Purchasing: Logitech G27 wheel, wheelstand pro, some sort of nice leather office chair, and surround sound with subwoofer.

I want to upgrade to atleast 42" HDTV or may go with 3D TV if the price is reasonable.

Meh.....wait until GT6 or PS4. By then, it'll be much cheaper and in GT6, there will be more premium cars that can look their best in HD (and LESS standard cars).

That's my rationalization on not upgrading yet.

I don´t want to open a new thread for only a simple question...
hope someone can help me.

I´m thinking to buy a g25 wheel and sell my old DFP... but i need to know how the g25 can be placed on my "playseat". I need to know how is the wheel and gear shift support systems. (as DFP, or maybe different...)

(hmm... im not sure if my english is good enough... did someone understand me??:dopey:)

I currently have a 40" 1080P, Sony Bravia, G25 (on a portable card table), with a folding lawn chair.

I will be upgrading to the Obutto rig w/buttkicker before GT5 is released. I might also do the shifter mods to my G25. I will also add some wood to the Obutto to invert my pedals. I hope that the full GT5 will have an analog clutch vs the digital (on/off) clutch that we have in GT5P.

I have a problem in this case. I have a Driving Force GT, but no seat. I have to sit on my bed, which after a period of time will cause back pain. Also, it sucks at making tight turns, i.e. the two consecutive hairpins at Amalfi in GT4.

Im hope they will address that issue as well.

I have the rid you mentioned above and im working on inverting the pedals. Im still looking for the right spacers to use on the shifter mods. any clues?

Im kinda in the same boat I move a little table in front of my 42" 720p tv with my dfgt wheel, I also have a 23" 1080p pc monitor but honestly the 720p 42" totally trumps the 23" 1080p in terms of fun...so Im looking for a cheap (concealable to a closet) way to get the real driving experience. Ive seen some pvc cockpits on youtube that looks awesome. I dont know... Ive got 102 days to figure it out.

No, I figured I would just look around after I get it apart to see what I am dealing with as far as size goes. My dad used to work at an Oster factory, so he has lots of little spacers and whatnots. I will probably use a little heat shrink at the top of the spring where the ball bearing sits, to try and eliminate the clicking. If that doesn't work, I heard duct tape around the plate helps too. The only hesitation I have in doing this, is that, I am pretty sure, it will not work if it is not on the h-pattern setting. I normally would not care, but the S2000 in GT5P has 7 gears, which you can not accomplish with a 6-speed shifter. I know I could use the paddles, but I use one to look behind me. I have the 2 front button to look left and right, and the left paddle to look back. I currently have the right paddle for e-brake, but I can't drift very well with the wheel, so I will do most all drifting with a controller. I have the buttons of the shifter used to adjust settings on the fly, which I never do, so I might just have to dedicate those for something else.

I have a question about wheels...

I currently have the Logitec wheel that came out prior to the newer one with the dials for traction control and brake bias.... I've never really liked it, but to be fair, I'm not a big fan of FF wheels in general and much prefer a spring loaded wheel (My wheel for the PC is a TSW that is simply bliss)

Can anyone help?

I either want the g27 or the new GT....Does the G27 have the ability to make adjustments like the current GT? How is the FF? Is it grainy? Is there a lot of dead wheel? I know you can turn FF off on the G27 but its not the same as a tightly sprung wheel like the TSW.

I would give anything for TSW to come out with a wheel for the PS3!

Any help would be appreciated!

I have the G25, which of course is almost the same wheel as the G27. The FF I think, is nice. You can adjust the level and power of the FF, if you don't like alot. I have not noticed any dead wheel on mine, it seems very accurate to what the car is doing. As far as on the fly adjustments, I have reassigned mine so that I can make on the fly adjustments. All you do is pick the new GT wheel, and assign those features to empty button on the G25/27 shifter housing. I don't ever use that feature though.

I plan to buy a really good playseat just for GT, around the £500 mark and of course a G25 or G27. Can't really choose between the two.

Already got a HDTV so a wheel and seat are the only things left on my list, oh and GT5:LE as well. I want to get the best experience I can with the game.
Saying that, if head tracking is any good I might consider adding a PSEye as well.

Slightly off topic, can anyone recommend which out of the G25 and G27 is the better of the two? :indiff:

Not true. The G27 has helical gears making for a smoother, quieter experience with more accurate feedback. The pedal offset is different and configurable, and the shifter feels more positive. Sure, it loses the sequential mode, but that's what made the original shifter so sloppy in the first place.

Now, whether or not people think a G27 is worth the premium over a G25 (if you can find one) is their prerogative.

Wheel: G25/Joytech Willams F1 (Google it)
Stand: Playseat Evolution (Brand new)
TV: 24 in. Panasonic (Non-HD)

Yes, I am aware of this, I just meant they were in the same family, so that I could give my feedback. The G27 is a newer more refined version of the G25, though.

Poll seems odd, because there is no choice for a regular controller. My setup is a non-HDTV and a regular PS3 Controller (non-DualShock). There was no choice for that. Only DualShock 3's or steering wheels are the choices. I'm not saying it's a bad poll (most people have HDTV/Steering Wheel), just if that would've been added, I could have made an easier choice.

Choice number one would be for you. Non-HD TV and Dual Shock 3/Sixaxis. The sixaxis was the standard PS3 controller.

i'll be playing in my SEGA driving cabinet that i fiddled with and made compatible with ps3 (and pc/ps2).. it has a real arcade force feedback motor- 100 times better than anything you can buy over the counter- so no messing around lol!
