Ok lol....you said, that you never said that a heavier does corners better.

Than you said, if you add ballast to a car wich is weight or mass whatever you wanna call it, it will corner better.

Am I correct ?

NO!!

I never said a heavier (more massive) car corners better, I assumed we all knew that wasn't the case. A car that has more mass has more momentum. A car with more momentum is harder to turn and wants to continue in it's direction (off the track).

My point was that weight can be added by downforce or ballast (weight is just a force, whether it's from gravity pulling on mass or aerodynamics pressing down). Only the ballast has MASS, which means only the ballast adds momentum.

👍

EDIT - When I say "carry momentum into the corner", that's a bad thing. That's momentum the tires must overcome to change direction.

Ok I think we are on the same page now. You are just saying that we need mass momentum to even get into a corner.
I really didnt need that to be explained to me, i went to school. :)

I understand that if you add ballast it will go faster around the corner not into a corner.

Well this debate seems pointless now...:dopey:

Sorry, no I'm basically saying that weight and mass are two different things. It's the weight that presses down on the car, but only mass that increases momentum (and creates body roll, etc).

Downforce increases grip by pressing down on the car, which increases weight, so in this sense weight is not bad because you have extra grip in the corners, but you don't have any extra momentum because downforce has no mass.

What is bad is anything that adds mass, like a ballast, because it's the mass that increases momentum and makes you slide off a track.

The debate is pointless though, I was just getting hung up on "weight" versus "mass". :)
