MustangManiacI find very little correlation to my real life driving and racing to that in this game, it's just not that hard core of a sim, but it is a lot of fun!
@Venom: Exactly which Mustangs are surprised by your G6? Maybe some of the older 4.0ltr V6's that put out 210hp, maybe. This years line up consists of a base V6 3.7ltr Duretec 37 at 305hp, the GT with a 5.0 Coyote V8 at 420hp, a Boss Coyote V8 at 444hp and the monster Shelby 5.8 supercharged rated at 650hp...I doubt any of them would be surprised by a 164 hp G6.
The crummy little V6s are the ones. Mostly because I know how to drive it for the best launch. It's not like I'm racing quarter mile tracks. My FF gets more speed off the line faster, and it's got a surprisingly fast 0-60 time at 9.5 seconds. I mean it is a 4 cylinder after all. You should try one out.
KamdoonFaster in the game. Real life has limitations.
"...But officer, don't you understand? I play GT5!!!" Doesn't work.
Lmao luckyAnd insurance, repair costs, etc.
I got pulled over a few weeks ago. When the officer asked if I knew how fast I was going, I asked "online or offline?"
Got a warning after an explanation, lol. He played GT too.
I personally find that I am much much quicker behind the wheel of my Spitfire race car (and even my street car) in real life than the matching cars on the game. How about y'all?
In GT5, I'm not sure. But in iRacing, I am six seconds slower in the game with the Miata at Mid Ohio than I am in real life in my Miata at Mid Ohio. The game's braking system just isn't nearly as real.
The difference for me is aggression.
In the game I am a very mild, very timid. I'm very easy on the car in the game, very smooth.
But when I'm Karting...I am an animal. The difference is night and day. Maybe I have more confidence in a kart because I can drive more by the seat of my pants, but while in a game I'm more skittish because I only have the wheel as feedback to know what the car is doing
Same here. I'm definitely faster in the real. As good as these sims are, there's still tons of info you don't get, and most importantly, depth perception and feeling the edge of grip is badly impaired with any sim because of the many limitations they have. However, I can't get my hands on a veyron and tear it up at the nordschliefe in the real
Difficult comparison to make.I raced karts for 6 years competitively, and have done hillclimb & circuit time attack events in modified road cars. Ive been playing Gt5 for 3 months now- and loving it..
I still lack some raw pace racing online against quick guys but I think my mediocre real-life talent is helping me improve. Skill in online lobby seems to be judged by how dirty you can overtake and how quickly you can kick out anyone who beats you.
I think that goes back to the depth perception to an extent. I find myself rubbing fenders with people much more than I would like simply because I cant make use of all my mirrors, let alone look side to side. Of course there is always the "small overly aggressive child" factor and others that are much akin to it.
fbccars924Actually, there is a control option in the button layout settings for a side to side views.
Doesn't exactly compare with peripheral vision and human sensory depth perception.
