How is NOS measured?

Hello GTPlanet,
So sorry if this thread has been made before I did a search and nothing came up. Anyways I was wondering with NOS in GT6 being measured in % what actually is the % value? Is it percentage of total HP? Sorry if it sounds confusing I cannot really word it out properly.

If it is % of HP can it be converted to shot values?

Yes, it's a percentage of the total hp. For example if your car has 1000bhp, and you set nitrous to 50%, you will be doing 1500bhp on spray (using nos)

Unfortunately I'm not sure I would agree with that description.
I don't believe a 50HP car would necessarily have 100HP, nor a 1000HP car have 2000HP, by using 100% NOS.
It could be true and it's that simple, although I'm doubtful it is.

To me it's more the amount you open the tap, rather than a direct HP value.
Open it fully, more HP but for less time ... just crack the tap open slightly and get less HP boost but for longer.

I would imagine the only true way to determine exactly what HP increase relative to the % used would be through extensive car testing and applying mathematics formulas.

Alternatively, you might be able to get some understanding using top speed results.
Find a a car with for example 100HP and raise it to 150HP via power parts ... test top speed.
Remove power parts so it's back to 100HP and add 50% NOS ... test top speed.
Results may be inconclusive, or they might go somewhere to answering your question..

My 2 cents on it anyway.

Some really good points, i just remember watching a video where the person described nos as i did, but i will definitely get on gt6 today and try what you suggested; if it's worth anything i think it would be a fairly conclusive test
 
Hey, just did some testing, your top speed method worked, but proved my suggestion right. I tried with a supra and kept engine tuning on stage 3 because it changes how high the car revs, and tried with and without nos. power increase of 70% vs stock with 70% nos yielded the same top speed
 
NOS is a brand of nitrous oxide, not nitrous oxide itself. Why do so many people commonly get this wrong?

I'm quite sure it stands for how much you open the valve. And if you set it at 100% your tank gets empty much quicker than 20% f.e. at 100% you use the full capacity of your pipes, at 20% you only use 20% of the full capacity of your pipes. I do want to point out that I'm 99% sure so I can't say this correct but it sounds the most logical to me.
