Never ever ever ever ever !
This is a question that i'm sure everyone would like to know as we are all racing each other and are so competetive. I myself have been playing GT since it's birth on the PSONE which i found to be the best racing game ever and frankly still is. But lets not forget for all those who have been playing racing games before GT should be skillful enough to handle it.The fact that you can purchase your favorite car and then proceed to buy upgrade's and adjust the settings was to me the best thing since driving games were invented. Being a mechanic it was fun to see how i could adopt my knowledge of car mechanics into a real racing sim that has gotten better over the years with all the adaptations it comes with. Personaly i think that with the release of GT5 it will be the next step in perfecting anyone's set up for great racing in game or online.

How long have you been playing GT ??

Haha. I also have been playing GT since its first appearance on the PS1.. in fact I still have my copies of GT2, 3 and 4 but misplaced or destroyed my original, which is a shame. And for much the same reason as you outlined there, it quickly became my all time favorite, only to be replaced by each successive incarnation. It is now, of course, the standard by which I judge all racing games/sims.

My love affair with racing games as a genre started back in the 80's with the sit-in arcade version of Namco Pole Position... hahahaha, anyone remember that one? I was about 11 or 12 when I discovered it... so cool it seemed. Foot to the floor and try and swerve your little lego block through a field of hundreds of other lego blocks. It had a brake pedal but I could never for the life of me work out why... Ahh, good times.

Oh My Gosh !! I forgot all about Pole Position which our whole generation started on, sitting in that cockpit for hours on end spending all of your money that your parents gave you and anything that you could find only to beat anyone that dared to challenge you.......the good ole days :)

Hehe, that's the stuff. :dopey:

Numb butt cheeks, wrist and hand cramp, fevered brow, wild staring eyes... You could always spot the PP addicts a mile off. :scared:

My begining was with GT1, but just for a couple of weeks, after that I tried a GT2 Demo, 24 hr after I bought it, I couldn`t stop playing since that day.

Yes from the birth of GT to the future and beyond HaHa. Fuji was the first I can remember flat stick all the way. But the first serious racing (on a screen)was F1"90 and Indy on a PC.

I've added a poll to give the thread added meaning

GT1 was the first of the Gran Turismo series for me. But my first racing game was Revs on the BBC Micro in the late '80s - driving and racing an F3 car around various British circuits using an analogue joystick a bit like the sixaxis joysticks.

I started playing Gran Turismo back in 2002 when I got a Playstation 2, which included GT3, for Christmas. Ever since then I've been an avid GT player. If it counts for anything, I did have a GT1 demo on my PS1 demo disc.

Since GT2. First I think I rent that game. Few months later I bought it. After that GT3 A-spec, GT4, and now GT5P.

Gran Turismo since January 1998 (japanese version). It was a whole new experience. My first car in GT: Honda Prelude (color: green). First track raced: High Speed Ring.

Good days, by the way...

GT1

When I decided to buy it, it was sold out... Had to wait 3 weeks to get my hands on!! Was really worth the wait, kept me occupied til GT2 ( which I bought 1st day of course) 👍

GT1 and all the games after.I still have them all.Bought my PS3 just for GT5P.:)

with gran turismo i remember that, before that i used to play "mario kart"( also the first one on the nintendo. after that "Nigell mansol world championship"wich also was a great game. getting the psone did profide so much more on grfx and racing games:)

also in the arcade halls like you said with pole position. indeed nice to think about that.

I started off with gt2. Prior to that I always played need for speed. What drove me to gt was mostly the fact that need for speed lost the great exotics it had in #2. But from there took a liking to the gt series and don't really play any other on road racers.

Story from there goes that I went back and played through gt1 which was platinum by then.

Then I purchased a ps2 + gt3 pack, fairly much only played that game, sold my ps2 and moved to xbox only to move back to a ps2 slimline + gt4. Though it was a mistake to get a xbox (god it was the most boring system ever. I actually stopped gaming soon after I purchased it till I got a ps2 again), it was necessary to get rid of the ps2 as it stopped working properly (trouble reading games). Since I re-purchased a ps2, I went back and replayed gt1-gt4 prologue to 100% completion (have about 2-3 races left in gt4p).

I got a ps3 at day one and boy am I glad I did (as later versions lost ps2 compatibility). Now I just wait for gt5 :)

Let's see, the 80% of time i use the PS1, PS2 and PS3 i play GT 1,2,4,5P.

I bought the PS2 and PS3 because GT series. :)

I never play GT3 and GT4 Prologue, i jump directly to 4, i supposed that GT4 was including all the things of both games.

Ever since I got GT2. Gran Turismo 2 is what originally got me into gaming. After I got a PS2, I got GT3 and GT4 when it came out. But I have GT2 to thank.

played only little with gt2 cause i never had an original ps. when ps2 came i bought gt3 as the bundle.
