How many cars should GT6 have?

You removed some cars with appreciable differences, such as the Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-t Type M (2.0 turbo engine, opposed to the GTS25 which has got a 2.5l NA engine) or the Toyota Vitz euro edition, which has got a 1.3 86 hp engine (opposed to the 1.0 69 hp engine of the F version or the 1.5 106 hp of the RS version). Or all the NA engined Silvias, for example.

Yet, you kept the Vauxhalls, Holdens and Acuras despite being essentially the same cars as their overseas counterparts.

In general I find pointless to remove cars that would add very little to the total development time just for the sake of removing them, anyway.
If all it takes for most of them is changing a badge, specifications and very minor details, who cares? I can't understand why they seem to bother people so much.

I was thinking about Nissan Skyline R32 GTS-t Type M, because it seemed more better. Replace the other one and add that instead. For the Vitz edition I'll add that as well. The Silvias. Hmmm, not sure.

Edit: Well gee, I wasn't going through detail you speak of. If you don't like the list, then I'm sorry for even making it. I was only trying to help. :grumpy: And there are cars with different names too, theres no point of having those in the list. I just don't want Kaz and PD getting a headache going through to add all those duplicates into their next game.

And it doesn't matter, they would bother some people despite them having something different in them, and you should be knowing that by now. Do you want PD even KAZ to get constantly made fun of because of them? That's why I made the list to ease it down a bit.

On second thought SHIRAKAWA Akira. You don't have to like it so who cares what you think of the list. I like the list just the way it is and I'm pretty sure someone will agree. At least it's nicely listed for everyone to like or love, and that's one of my reasons of making the list.

I'm not disputing that yours has been an interesting work that might even be useful for other reasons (for example filtering down the car list to models that are significantly different from each other). I'm not referring to you in particular, but what I fear is that the constant pushing (and general overreacting, see the skyline/miata memes) for the "no duplicates" thing is going to harm the userbase in the end, especially since (when) it costs essentially nothing to add a slight variation of a car for modelers/developers.

Here's a car we might not see anymore (it was in GT2) because "omgitsaduplicate":

I would have added that car into the list in an instant. Because wasn't it a 25th anniversary of Camaro? I just wanted to make a reasonable list though, because I remember Kaz saying he felt the same about the duplicates in the game. So that's another reason why I made the list. :p

It was a 30th anniversary Camaro. In real life it didn't differ from other V8 models (Z28 and SS) for much more than the paint. So, in principle it would be like, say, a Skyline R34 Midnight Purple edition that manages to bother many people for some reason.

The thing is that while some cars/models might have a special meaning for a certain group of people, it might not for other ones. Perhaps while I and you would welcome such 30th anniversary Camaro, in Japan some users would probably whine that PD included yet another piece of "old american junk" that looks and performs the same. This is another reason why I'm saying that begging the developers to remove "excess" cars will end up being counterproductive for everybody. What you don't like might be what others like and viceversa.

I'm all for including all possible existing versions, instead, no matter what the car. Special editions, special trims, smaller engines, bring them on. That's more variety for shuffle races and stock car races, at the very least.

Then why not make a list yourself and lets see what you come up with. I was only following how GT5 organized the list of cars, and loved it and got inspired by it. How there was a Nissan Skyline GT-R R32 V-Spec, R33 V-Spec, R34 V-Spec II Nur, GT-R R35, and so on.

Add the standard classic Skylines (not duplicates) becoming premium and there you go, a perfect list for Nissan's Skyline cars. The list I made was highly based on that, and was perfectly well listed.

Edit: Despite there being duplicates with different region types and differences in them. I still believe having those ones are not needed. That's why I followed by the years of them, because I know those ones would be better. Such as the Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC2) '98, over both the Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC2) '95 and Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC2) '97. Take a look at my list again, I think it's okay.

600 is an achievable number.
update the super gt roster, finish the LE mans cars and add a few classics implement the DTM roster Increase the rally roster
add a few and or most historical cars in the series classic cars * muscle JDM ETC.*
add the newer cars , viper new Aston * race versions of these cars *
a few new budget cars and tada!!!!
heck 600 cars *premium* as long as its varied goes a long way.. look at forza but if they make race cars, please include other noteworthy cars i there division.. i don't want a super gt If there are no opponent class cars..

Well Thats Not true. If they work on GT for PS4 since GT5 Release... They have more Time and can Create the Tracks.
This doesn't mean anything. The next GT game won't be the last one ever, and they can still work on stuff after it is released like they have for GT5 if they want to release a new track or two after the game comes out.

The Cars should be created in higher quality already, if PD isn't stupid.
They are already modeling cars to higher-than-PS3 levels, so it makes no difference whether the next game came out on the PS3 or not because the first game that does come out on new hardware can then support the higher quality models.

They can improve the AI, Sound, .... instead of making a PS3 Game with the Same Problems of GT5. Sound,AI.... Just Give them Time.
Better sounds and and better AI aren't things that PD didn't do because the PS3 can't do them. They are things PD didn't do because they didn't do them. It is fallacious to assume that just because GT5 screwed it up that it is impossible to do better.

So:

If they make a New ps3 Game They will waste resources.
You still need to provide some sort of reasoning for this statement. They are future-proofing their assets by their own admission, so none of them will go to waste on lower-powered hardware. The overwhelming majority of the major shortfalls of GT5 have little-to-nothing to do with system limitations, so they don't need to wait for new hardware to fix them. And GT6 is not the last GT game ever, so any assets they make will be able to make a comeback later on.

Yes i do. 0-2 years after PS4 Launch we will have waited 3-6 years. The entirely History of PD Development is under Sony Control and time changes....

- huge losts
- strong and Hard competition with MS, Forza

And so on.
Sony was posting huge losses and strong competition from Forza when GT5 was in development, and Sony still let Kaz do whatever the hell he wanted for half a decade.

Futhermore, logically, that argument you just made supports PD making the next GT game as soon as possible. Not taking another five years and 80 million dollars to eventually get one out.

Because if GT6 ends up on PS3 and ends up the same as GT5, which it probably will

If all it takes for most of them is changing a badge, specifications and very minor details, who cares?
Because PD rarely put even that much effort into doing it. Outright duplicates seemed to inspire massive laziness on PD's part, to the extent that even cars that aren't technically duplicates in real life are treated as such by them in game. And seeing how that attitude of laziness has been with PD for just as long now (3 games) as when they actually did put care into things, I don't think the flipping tables approach to them acting that way is particularly unwarranted anymore.

Special editions, special trims, smaller engines, bring them on.
I think we can do without "special edition" models that amount to nothing more than wheel/sticker packages considering the only reason they are even remotely relevant is because of outdated idiosyncrasies with how Gran Turismo games are designed.

In fact, I'd argue that wheel packages were never relevant (especially not the ones that PD gave special names like the 350z and McMerc), considering they started popping up in the series when we had the option to change wheels ourselves anyway.

That's more variety for shuffle races and stock car races, at the very least.
Is there really? If I'm in a race and someone is using a MNP Skyline that they painted a different color and someone else is using a normal Skyline that they painted a different color, is that really variety?

It there are two McMercs in a race, one of them being the one with the optional wheels (with aftermarket wheels) and one of them is the "normal" model (also with aftermarket wheels), what variety is actually there beyond how one has a stupid name that doesn't fit on the results screen and no longer means anything?

Couldn't have said it better myself. 👍 PD needs to start moving on and drop the whole duplicate crap. There is no point of having them in the game if PD is just gonna be lazy with them. It's just stupid and a waste of time and space. I'm remaking the list again and making sure it's perfect this time. There was some parts I messed up in.

Premium wise name me one regional duplicate? all the duplicates are standard * all the skylines n the premium dealership are NOT duplicates..
R32 R33 R34 R35(gtr) Gtr 12 Gtr spec v the concept and black mask... the only car i would consider "duplicate " would be the black mask..

I remade the list, hopefully this time I didn't mess up like the last one. You'll "may" like this list though, it took me forever to put the right cars into it that is loved by everyone. The perfect cars that can kept for GT6.

Note: Please don't think I made this list just for myself to like, I made it for everyone to see whether you'll like it, or maybe not. And please don't criticise me if any cars are missing from the list, I tried my best to keep it. *Perfect* *v* Well. Heres the list, enjoy.

And that's pretty much what I came up with. PD could handle adding more cars and adding the ones that were removed in my list. Such as the Mini Cooper '02, replacing it with the Mini Cooper '07. Same with the Mini Cooper One. Being replaced by the Mini Cooper One '08, because they're newer. :) Mind you I was following how the premium dealerships were made. d-_-b

Great list! I think you did a good job of incorporating everybody's preferences in cars, although I do think it could use a few tweaks. But either way, thanks for making the most polished list yet! :)

Oh, and I've been working on my own version of a list of cars for GT6 and I'll probably post it here soon.

Haha, thank you very much interpolfan11. :)👍 I can't wait to see your list soon. :D

Im sorry but I like the duplicates and I would like PD to make them premiums especially the ones that have a premium counterpart. What other game do I get to test a 96 Integra R and compare it to a 98 Integra R. I love the fact I can mock the best motoring video vol 1.

Those aren't duplicates.

What people consider to be duplicates are cars that look pretty much the same. What they don't realize is that they aren't because there are subtle mechanical differences. Though, there are probably cars that differ in year model, and that's the only difference.

Also, since people are going to ask why the ITR doesn't count as a year dupe like Penguin mentioned above: '95 ITR was the baseline. '98 ITR had a remapped engine with better power delivery and a substantially different torque curve, and numerous substantial drivetrain and suspension changes. '99 had suspension and drivetrain tweaks on top of the '98

Exactly If this is the case for any other cars that look like each other I want them in the game.

That's the thing. I remember that, in an interview, Kaz didn't know that the "duplicates" were frowned upon, so I don't think he's going to add anymore so-called "duplicates".

I think around 2,000, but like some people have said it would be great to see them all premium but we wont know for some time yet whether or not that many premium style cars is possible. Obviously the PS4 will be a far more powerful unit and one shouldn't rule out the next installment being a PS4 game.

Also, add to that the return of the Ford Model T!

@ TokoTurismo

Great list, I myself would prefer to have a whole lot more race cars. But there's probably a good reason for that.

All of them. :sly:

However many it has, they all have to be premium.

This . even with 400 cars im satisfied but please make them all premium and of course 1 or 2 skylines are enough dont repeat the same pattern in GT6 please :(

I have thought about why I want all the standard cars deserve an upgrade and need to appear in next GT game, it is because many standard cars in GT5 are exclusive and only GT could provide the real racing experience of those cars.

Thank you gorsad. :) I'll like to see more race car as well, along with historic race/rally cars too.

You're also missing new cars, GT is seriously lacking in 2009+ models and I hope that is fixed with GT6. That should be their main car modelling priority as far as I'm concerned.

48. It's quite shocking. Especially when you consider that Forza 3, a game released in October 2009 only had five less at 43 on disc:
