Just wondering how many miles roughly is it before a car is considered 'broken in'

176 I think.

I think it's 185 or 190 miles

Excuse my stupidness but what does it actually mean for my cars?

It gives your car extra horsepower and torque if you do the number of miles stated and then change the oil.

I actually believe its a lot more I just tested it in a gtr black edition new from 0 miles. I fully tuned it when i bought it but didnt do an oil change at first. I did 250 miles in it then changed the oil and it brought the max hp to 954 and torque to 707. I have another gtr black where I changed the oil when i bought it and broke it in and it only gets 952hp and 705 torque. That being said to break in a car to the absolute max dont change the oil before you run the miles up to 250, do it after the 250 miles.

Depends on the car I think.

Just go for 200 miles.

This ^
Some take surprisingly less than 200 miles.

Just go for 200 miles.

👍 But by 200... 200 miles should do it for most, if not all.

Grand Valley Bspec Endurance + a bspec seasonal run or 2 should assure complete break-in for most any car.

I know for a fact that its 190 miles for a NASCAR car. Can't speak for other cars but I'd imagine it would be around the same.

So does it matter if I buy a car tune it and change the oil before iv even raced it?

The Indy 500 in B-Spec is the best break in tool.
Run 200 miles worth of laps and quite.

Change the oil before you race, the cars come from the dealership in need of an oil change.

I think the car gets enough broken in within the range of 150~200 miles, but does depend on the type of your car.

Did you not read what I said earlier? Don't change the oil after you buy a new car!!!!!!!! Drive the miles first then change it for the first time. Doing this will get you max break in and I just proved it. Don't listen to anyone else but me!!!!

Has anyone else verified this? Dom00000 -- seems that you are right, your data shows that, it's just that I have always changed the oil first and it's sort of habit by now. I would hate think I've been losing hp's this whole time.

I'll have to check it out.

When he said race I thought he was going to hope in an A-SPEC race. Not break-in the car.

Either way, changing the oil first will make the 200 miles go by quicker because you will have more HP.
Then after you have driven 200Miles, change the oil again.
As long as you change the oil after you raced 200 Miles you will be fine. Doesn't matter if it is the first or second oil change.

Omg it does matter if you change the oil 2 times I just showed you why. You get more hp if you wait till after you do the miles. I don't know what you don't get. You get less hp if you first change the oil and break in then change again, than doing the miles and then changing the oil for the first time.

If this is still relevant. I say that after 250 miles it is fully broken in, but some cars take more.

After racing in many series with over a 40 different drives, where we all have to have the exact same HP after break-in I have never seen 1 car have more HP because they changed the oil at a different time.

Sorry, but what you are saying is either a new glitch or false (I'm thinking the latter).

I think that's a myth.

A silly gamer rumour.

And your hysterical manner in posting about it just makes my belief even stronger that it's completely a myth.

Do you guys want me to take pictures because you don't believe me?

Do you guys want me to take pictures because you don't believe me?

It would be helpful.

I say you would have to come up with SOMETHING other than "omg omg omg" & "only listen to me!!111!!"

Once you post the photos, people will be able to explain to you the reasonable explanation to what you're seeing.

This was discussed on another thread here about a week or 2 ago.
The conclusion most people had is that you're looking at things skewed, and not recognizing that the end result always remains the same.

I'm pretty sure the issue is, that maybe it will appear you have more hp at some specific mileage milestone, depending on when & how many oil changes & engine rebuilds you do.

But in the end, a car will ONLY top out at a certain HP at its peak hp point.

And whether you do 2 oil changes or 5 oil changes before that point, won't make it so the car won't ever reach its peak HP. Just means it'll reach the peak at a different milestone of mileage.

In other words, your car is NOT irrevocably penalized by doing early oil changes. Doing early oil changes does NOT mean your car will never reach its peak hp. (Which seems to be the source of your hysteria.)

The reason this APPEARS to some people not to be the case is that taking 2 cars identical, they MAY peak at slightly different mileage just because of when you did the oil changes & rebuilds.

But there's no trick to get more HP out of a car than its potential maximum.
The only issue is what exact mileage will be on the car when you hit that after you do oil changes & engine rebuilds.

That explains it all. ^. Well said watermelon. Discussion on the matter should be over at this point. I have experimented with every trick in the book and there is no way you are going to get more that the max hp. allowed for the car. I was had this kid try to tell me his NASCAR car had 905hp. I had him send me a pic and it was 905bhp, which is what I thought in the first place. He was from Canada using French. Changed to English and it was 892hp.
