i don't believe that... show it to me...

if it had the NASCAR engine, it's not production.

If it really did top out at 201 completely stock, then I'd say that's still impressive considering today's cars.

It is fairly difficult to believe. I have a friend with a 1970 Dodge Charger, and it's slow as ****. Sure as hell doesn't come anywhere near 200mph. But then again, it's not a '69 Daytona.:p:rolleyes: I don't see how aerodynamics would allow that car to hit those speeds, what kind of gearing did it have, motor size, etc?

a 550? 550 what?

Charger Daytonas and Superbirds came with 426 Hemis (426 cubic inches), rated at 450hp...

i still say it's fishy, and i still say the 959 is the first car to achieve 200mph.

"Bobby Isaac drove a Daytona sponsored by K&K Insurnace to a world record closed-course speed record of 201.104 mph. At the Daytona race that year, Dodge Daytonas swept the top four spots. At Bonneville, Isaac set an unlimited class speed record of 217 mph. And all of this performance was available at your friendly neighborhood Dodge dealer. This was truly the height of the performance mania. Sadly, 1969 would be the only year that the Dodge Daytona would be available, although Plymouth would try the same thing for 1970 with their Superbird."

that particuliar car is a NASCAR stock car, not a production car...

you're changing the rules during the contest...

No, the 217 was the Nascar, the 201 was the stock version.

Ever play TD5?

the car mentionned in that article, that did 201 mph is not a production car, it's a NASCAR car.

No, its not, its the stock version. "Bobby Isaac drove a Daytona sponsored by K&K Insurnace to a world record closed-course speed record of 201.104 mph"

He drove the stock version with some K&K stickers on it. Not the Nascar.
