How should mid race saves work?

The big question I have is when you save somewhere (preferably when pitting I guess which sounds perfectly logical) and leave that endurance race, are you then able to play GT5 normally or can you only drive that endurance race until you finish it?
To be honest, I wouldn't mind that very much but it would make a huge difference in deciding whether you'll enter an endurance race or not.
Not sure which is the easiest to implement, think if you're able to continue playing normally after saving, the car you've entered perhaps isn't available to drive in the same way cars shared online aren't available to drive.
If it's done the other way, I suppose when starting GT5 you're automatically directed to the endurance race you've entered (didn't the championship saves in GT4 work this way?).

mhh when you start gt5 again after the save... you should be in back in the 24h race - no other races or something too keep the "endurance" feeling :dopey:

yeah GT4 had this option in championchip save... dont know how the championchip save works in gt5, because done all championchips

Hopefully which ever way PD decides, we can save mid race and still go race online or participate in other A spec and B spec events and still able to come back to the race we saved.

I think it will be saved via pitstop.

We were able to do this in GT4. What is the big deal? Put it in the pause menu. Also in GT4 we had three different tune options to save and load. Where are they? GT6 wont even have a replay mode at all given this trend.

1. Make a pit stop and the save option will be available.
2. The game will warn you; you must "quit game" in order to save.
3. Boot up the game to continue your race.
4. You are able to save again only after 2.5 hours of race.

I think this could be fair enough.

There is no reason for any of those restrictions to exist.

No restrictions just give the option to save when pitstopping or save and and quit. Two choices, very simple, and it lets people decide how they want to play the game. 8 million people have the game and they all want to play differently.

It would be neat to be able to save an endurance race's progress, but still be able to continue to play the game normally, until you wanted to continue that race. I can't see locking my PS3 up for multiple days while I try to complete a 24 hour endurance race, if everytime you start-up the game, the only option is to continue the race.

Endurance races are the only thing I need this feature for. Without it, I know I'll never complete the A-Spec Endurance Series. I would also like to see the time compression feature of GT4 return for B-Spec as well. However, as I'm almost at B-spec Level 39, I wouldn't have much future use for it aside from grinding endurance B-specs for money, but it might be a nice feature for future players. 👍

Besides, I guess triple payout Seasonals (specifically Ferraris on La Sarthe for 504K per every 3 1/2 mins) is easier than doing a 24-hour B-spec endurance, even if it could be time compressed to 8 hours, like in GT4. ;)

I assume that if you save during a race the game will exit and then you have to continue the next time you load the game. Once it has loaded again, the save is deleted.

That's what happens in championship races now.

It's the best way. It prevents cheating.

Sounds like that will be how it works. I was hoping for an advanced version though. :)

Cheating in offline one-player mode?!?! I guess that could be called cheating, but who would know besides the player, and would he/she care if someone else thought it was cheating? ;)

Except that there is no cheating to prevent in the first place.

I believe this is the best way to do it. My concern is on how the hell they'll save other drivers position. It's a lot of stuff to be saved in order to continue the game exactly how it was when you saved it.

Exactly the same way as they "save" every car's position and velocity when you pause. How is it any different if you save this data to the hard drive instead of simply keeping it in RAM?

To the OP, I'd prefer a pit/save option which allows me to return to the enduro when I want to.

I know this offends the sensibilities of the hard-core, but honestly it isn't any of their business how I play my game. Is it worse that I want to do my 24-hour race in 6 hour segments when I feel like it, or if I run 12 hours with the X1 and then go to sleep for the last 12, or block the pit entrance so the AI can't pit until I come back.

Seriously folks, it's a game. It should be set up to allow people to play it as they want in the offline mode.

Could be like something with the GT4 Championship series race saves. Where you save it but you can't do anything else in GT4 because your still "in the race."

Hope it's not like that though.

LOL, when I read that, I had a vision of the AI all lined up trying to get past your car to pit.
