People have talked about binding brake balance settings to their controller so they can set it even in shuffle races and one make races that don't allow you to access the cars' settings menus. How do you do this?

Hmm, I'll have to look into this. It kind of defeats the purpose of Shuffle racing, if adjustments are being made. I forget everything that is available through that in-race menu, so I wonder what other advantages Shuffle racers are using to gain an edge? Can any other settings or driving aids be changed?

You can only change TCS, ABS, Some things I don't know and Brake balance (Front and rear). If the car has a 4WD system then you can adjust the differential.

I know those things can be changed, but if the host has them disabled in the settings of the server (TCS, ABS, etc.), that menu doesn't override those settings, right? I've never actually tried, but I'm guessing they do not.

Still, being able to access certain parts of the car's setup would definitely create an advantage for those in the know, if true. ;)

You config the RA menu to the controller.
I use the Digital for adjustment and navigation and R3 for activating the menu.

Thanks. I bound the adjustments to the d-pad but didn't know how to activate the menu. Gotta bind it too I guess.

Yeah I don't know what other things are adjustable but I was just looking for brake balance because I wish to drive shuffle without ABS and with 5/5 brake balance it's really difficult.

You can't adjust the TC or ABS if they are disabled.

Adjusting the brakes isn't so much giving players an advantage as much as giving them the chance to undo PD's obnoxiously stupid default bias. Think of it rather that people who don't map the RA functions are disadvantaged by locking themselves into cars with defective brakes when they could legally put proper ones on. :)

Although if you are deft enough with it you can adjust on the fly for specific track sections, which technically should only be on race cars, but that's just the way GT5 does it - for every race and car.

I've mapped the RA Menu to 'triangle', with the ludicrous reverse button to 'right stick down'. I also use the d-pad to adjust the settings on the RA Menu.....Works a treat.

OK, that makes sense, thanks. I guess it's just like any other tidibit that someone finds in the game and uses, that others may not be aware of yet. 👍

Although, it sounds like this exact use of the RA menu might be undocumented for use in Shuffle races?

Click on the right analog if you put RA Menu function on R3.

That's what I use. The windshield wiper button is basically redundant anyway, as it only works when it's not raining. I put my wipers on a different button though since I use a wheel and the DS3 is extra buttons.

In shuffle you cant adjust 4wd balance. But anywhere else you can. But you can adjust brake balance which is very useful. Also if an aid like tc or abs is disabled they will be grayed out. Its also nice to set tc to 1 for launch then drop it to 0.

I used to have my DFP set up for this for every time there was a race with a start from the grid. I haven't set up the G27 for this yet because all of the serious online races I do have a formation lap/rolling start and those that don't are just for fun and I can't be bothered... I might set it up again though.

As above, I prefer racing with TCS off but have it on one just for the start. I always bias my brakes towards the front in shuffle races too :D

Just get a DFGT. It will solve your problem for a decent price and you'll have an incredible driving experience.

anyone do this for a G27 yet? What buttons did you use?

I can't use the controller for the RA menu thingy and i already use the G27's D-pad and YBXA buttons for navigating the assault course that is the menu screens.

Traction, Centre diff, if 4WD, ASM, ABS, Front brake and Rear brake are all adjustable on the move with my DFGT. I tend to use the Traction control and brake adjustment fairly often, setting them to be less aggressive if I'm leading the race and have a lap or two to go. I've been known to switch the ASM on if I'm really, really struggling to stay on the black bits. The 4wd diff will only work if you have the adjustable centre diff fitted and could be really useful in rallying if you have the control to do this.

Solution for G27 and RA menu

Assign buttons to DS3 in options menu.

To use the controller AND the wheel at the same time, just unplug the USB of the wheel and set the DS3 to No. 1 controller, then plug G27 in again.
Button assignments should now function.
