how true is this..

hi every one,,

I read in Motor Trend magazine that GT staff were seen testing some bikes,,,

I know this sound far fetched,, and even if they attempt do pull off such thing its not going to work,,,

Did any one read about this?

Yeah that's right, I've seen some pictures on the internet of Polyphony testing motorbikes, but I don't know which site it was anymore but maybe we could expect some bikes in GT4

I doubt it,,, non of the past GT allowed you to drive a convertible with top down,,,

I don’t think they will bother modeling a person with all the physics riding the thing,,

But maybe Polyphony will give you the opportunity to just check them out in the dealer showroom but not to take them out on the tracks,,,

They alraedy have made a person in the convertible as you can see in the E3 trailer so why shouldn't they make a whole person on a bike ?

Bikes will not appear in GT, it goes against what the game is about and has been denied by PD and Sony, however rumours are rife that PD is planning a GT style bikes game but nothing is confirmed or denied.

There are rumors abound about a stand alone game called "Gran Turismo: Bikes" that is suppose dto be a filler of sorts between GT4 and GT5. Much like GT: Concept was.

A quick google search for "Gran Turismo: Bikes" will show you how many rumors

It would be nice if they put some bikes into the game, but they couldn't really call it Gran Turismo anymore, and the brand name is more improtant to them than making a decent game. If they did it as a sepearate game, then I think it could work......but it would never be as good as Super Hang-On .

This rumor is gaining steam especially after the new human model was introduced in the '04 E3. That guy in the shelby cobra (with top down) looked pretty amazing so it seems pretty safe to say that a bike model wouldn't be too difficult.

They already have lots of incredible tracks, bike modeling & physics wouldn't be that much of an extension. I guess its a matter of if and when but this is pure speculation

I they put bikes into GT4 they would need to make the bikes flip and the drivers fall off. thety would also need a second physics engine for the bikes. And finally GT would lose a few of it's fans who play the game to get a fun yet realistic gaming experience that strives for authenticity. Also the name of the game would have to change, Gran Turismo has nothing to do with bikes in real life, and as authentik as KY wants GT I couldn't see him mixing the two.

It's not a simple extension to the physics engine that's required to incorporate bikes, it'd have to be a pretty major overhaul. There's also all too many people who'd go "Uh, the big surprise is bikes? Lame". We're here for a driving simulator, not a riding one.

I don't want to see bikes in GT4.

To be honest I don't want to see F1 cars either, its not like theres a shortage of F1 games. I'd prefer more everyday cars -> proper GT style race cars than F1 cars.

Yeah... I liked GT2 more from that point of view simply because it was nice to feel the LM cars ruled the roost. I know you can beat the F1 cars with some of the LM machines but you simply can't match them for pace, it's a bit sad.

It makes sense to make another game though. Why would PD just do Gran Turismo games? They have the potential to make any kind of game they want.

Like Honda would have the CBRs and Suzuki would have the GSX and the Hayabusa etc.etc. you got what I mean,,,

And I think that PD will not gamble with a bike mode that turns out as a flop and ruin the image and reputation they have concerning the deep game play and simulation they always achieve…
Hence Kazunori Yamauchi always opted not to simulate damage as (quote)
“Would take to much effort and not achieve true damage effect on the performance of the cars”

I doubt there will be bikes in the showrooms, what a waste of time and space. They still have to spend days modelling each bike, and each bike is one less car.

There is already a Gran Turismo Bike Style Game called "Riding Spirits 2 which is pretty damn excellent and features 330 motorbikes

It's meant to be crap frmwhat I've heared, but it has nothing to do with GT and PD. Also if PD do make a GT style game using bikes, it will not be called Gran Turismo bikes.

Riding Spirits 2 is by no way a Gran Turismo beater and I mentioned it purely so that anyone who wished to try a game in a similar style with motorbikes could give it a try.

I'm not trying to "promote" this product, but thought it was relevant given the way the thread had developed.

No, because Gran Turismo is a term for cars, thats what GT stands for. If it was for bikes, they would think of something that has a similar meaning but in the bike world.
