My wife and I were on vacation in New Orleans, and were set to leave Friday morning. Luckily, our hotel room had the Weather Channel, so we stayed another day, and left Saturday morning instead.
In any case, our home was too far south and to the east of where Charley made landfall; I know there were quite a number of casulaties from the SW Florida area, and if there's any GTP members from there...I hope you made it out okay.
We took the Turnpike north Monday morning, and saw it on the way back: numerous signs and trees that were standing just days before were toppled, twisted, smashed. A few roofs were damaged, but nothing horrendous. But then again, that was through the center of the state.
