Is it possible in GT5 ??
It would be nice to have fiat 500 with civic engine, sylvia with RB27dett and more than 700hp skyline like in real world.

No. And why would it be nice to have a Fiat 500 w/ a Civic engine? I guess I don't see it....

No, it's not. No engine swaps in GT5.

From the thread title I thought this was going to be about KERs or something :D

It would be nice to see a MiniX. A Mini with a X2010 engine.

Who wouldn't want to put a 1.8L Vtec into a Fiat 500? that in my opinion is an awesome idea. Throw in an FTO engine or even an Evo engine (with 4WD) into a colt. A buddy of mine is currently replacing the 1.6l (non mivec) engine in his Mitsibushi Colt with a 2.0 V6 from an FTO, along with the suspension and brake hubs... basically the whole lot.

This stuff happens a lot in real life, and it would be awesome in game, would make for some pretty cool combinations. 700bhp 4WD Colt? 350bhp Vtec Fiat 500? (though that would be a mammoth task, different manufacturers) or a 2.2l Vtec prelude engine into a Civic. Upgrading a Subaru Impreza with a Cosworth block (as is common with tuners). Putting an RX7 engine into an MX-5.

It wouldn't be easy to impliment, but it would be pretty awesome in terms of customisation if they got it right.

The Fiat 500 with a Vtec engine is probably on the ambitious side, but it's probably not impossible. Stuff with matching manufacturer though, thats quite simple, in some cases its just the case of dropping in the engine.

Why? So you can be left with an overpowered compact sht box that drives like a bus and cost $50k?

People do it everyday! and anyway the Fiat 500 (new one) is a fantastic car. I assume were talking about the new one and not the old one ^^.

i love them both
the old one is even better!!!!!

I know someone who put a Camaro engine in a BMW 2002.
IRL that is.

Its just like in Shift 2, same manufacturer engine swaps. I wouldn't mind a Celica with the engine from a Supra RZ or a Silvia powered by an R35 GT-R V-6, however, an X2010 engine in a Mini is a little much for my taste.

You can do this on a PS2 game called Auto Modellista by Sega. Its also got Mitsuoka (Dome) on it.

This being GT5,no.There arent even basic brake upgrades,so no way they'd have that.
Would have been fun to see though,I've had a friend put a AWD drivetrain from a Merc ML63 into a A class in another game.

They had brake upgrades in GT4, but not in GT5. 👎

no way.... I mean this won't gonna happened, ever. Because it's pointless, imo

anybody, with a DS2 controler made a differens with the brake upgrade in the GT4? I guess not.

Joel Olsen's ford granada with a Koenigsegg engine in it. would be great when its running

Tanner Foust has a Scion TC with a Toyota Nascar engine in it....same brand but still!

I used to have an xbox and forza 3 and it was same make engine swaps in that game too. I think there are licensing issues otherwise.

Yeah the engine swaps in S2 are realistic. And you can drive the that Scion in it as well! It is fun.

I think I would be prepared to go on a hunger strike to have this option. I wouldn't mind a '69 Camaro RM powered by a LS9

As for Mr. Foust...

yea i loved my chrysler/viper srt10 300c
a 300c with an amazing sounding 600 BHP v10 ;D

I'd argue that engine swaps are definitely not pointless, perhaps people are not very aware of it but swapping engines is very popular among tuners and builders. My buddy with the Colt is a member of a Colt (Mirage/Cyborg) owners site, some of the things people do with those cars are insane. There is a 700bhp 4WD Colt that looks like a Lancer Evo from the front, is the colour of green + orange tictacs, fully modified for track days.

Engine swaps are very popular, and would allow people to get more life/performance out of the cars they want to drive and race in the game.

Shift 2 has done it, though I personally believe it can be done better. Mixing manufacturers wouldn't be likely in a game due to licencing issues.

I'm thinking Prius with a W16...... :DDDD

I think being able to do engine swaps would be great as long as they are fairly realistic. i.e. no putting a LS1 engine in a Kei car.

One of my all time favorite cars in real life, although it is a disappointment in the game, is a perfect example of "hybriding". An American with a burning desire to beat the Ferraris in racing hooked up with a struggling British sports car company called A.C. and with the aid of Ford motor company gave us the legendary Cobra. Who wouldn't love to do the same sort of thing in the game?

But in 13 years PD hasn't really updated their tuning section in the series, so of course they don't have this technology. ;)
And it should be pretty easy to implement, all the "physics" for each car already exist, as do the "physics" for each engine, so to give car "a" the engine physics from car "c" shouldn't be very difficult at all, as it all already exists in the game, they'd just have to be "mixable". 💡

More or less a carbon copy of the story about yet another American with a similar passion of defeating old man Enzo on the track. This time it was Henry Ford who found himself in a similar spot... how the hell do you beat Ferrari? The answer, as it turns out, was to take some Ford & add some Lola. The end result is arguably the best car ever built...

Until the Porsche 917 came along. :p
