I have a request.

I have a psp ver2.70 and it is very sad that i can't downgrade it, people who see this or who know how to make the program for downgrading from 2.70 to 1.50 please help thx. SAD SAD SAD

I suppose you could do it, but don't.

There are some sites that are claiming that they have firmware 1.5 downgrades you can run on your Sony PSP and have it magically go back from firmware 2.0 to firmware 1.5.

In fact, they're cleverly disguised trojan horses, programs that are actually written to destroy your PSP unit. If you run one of these downgrade applications, it'll actually remove some key files from your PSP and render it inoperable, which would definitely ruin your day.

As far as I have read, there's also no way to send your PSP to Sony or otherwise have someone clone their OS onto your system as a recovery mechanism (though theoretically you should be able to accomplish this task with some simple programming). If you run this trojan, known in antivirus circles as Trojan.PSPBrick, you'll have a dead, throw it away, nothing you can do to fix it Sony PSP unit.

I have to agree with ultrabeat, it may seem like a really cool thing having 1.5 and the ability to play h0omebrew stuff, but the fact of the matter is, that there are people out there that want to kill your PSP and if you dont know what you are doing or are unsure about the actual software the dont bother.

If you whish to use homebrew, then I would recomend another way maybe a mod chip or a peice of software that a trusted friend has already used, but if you go the mod chip rout then make sure the person fitting the chip is an expert solderer or this will also kill your psp.

You can downgrade it as described on thi site: www.pspupdates.qj.net, but you need certain files from someone else who has a 1.50 PSP. Apparently these are illegal to distribute over the internet. McAfee apparently recognizes that trojan described above. Currently, to downgrade you have to follow the set of instructions, there is no easy way. As always, you run the risk bricking your PSP, especially if you have a PSP with a TA-082 motherboard.

I have found a few methods of downgrading the PSP firmware from 2.0 to 1.5 that seem like they might work. However they sound very very risky and I cant guarantee anything.

I also have found something that sounds like an emulator that lets you play homebrew games on v 2.71. However I am still screwed on both points, because I have 2.80.

Ah well.
