I kick people all the time!

If you hit me because of under steer, you didn't have room to make the pass. It's only a good pass inside if you can slow down enough to make it stick without putting the other guy off.

I'm not going to run a blocking line in the first few laps of a race. That is a stupid tactic, and will just slow down my overall lap times and let the behind cars catch up.

As far as F1 goes, or ALMS, or any racing series for that matter, you won't see drivers dive-bombing turns and then forcing the outside car into the wall. Sure it happens, but not because the inside guy did it on purpose. You obviously think it's ok to do on purpose.

Obviously I'm never going to get my point across - I'm just very glad that I've never had to race against you. Your delusion goes a long way towards explaining why it's so hard to have a good race online though.

Try that move against real racer in a real car and see how much respect you get. Better yet perhaps, just go play Forza and let the real men drive and have fun on GT5.

The understeer would only come about, if you push when you've lost position, I have the line and you don't, if you wanted to keep the line, you should have taken it, and not left it open. I don't force people against walls, either; I'd only overtake as mentioned if there's somewhere for the other driver to go, I'm not about to ram people into walls. If you want to drive competitively, then accept that you have to think about someone overtaking and yield if you don't have the line, although if you'd prefer to have a Sunday drive with the flat-cap brigade, don't complain about not being able to have a good race.

And funny you say try it against a real racer in a real car, seeing I have a racing license and I compete with my Uncle, and I've been racing since I was around 9 or 10, so I have a few years experience. Oh, and if I wanted to be a 'real man' then I'd probably have seen a cosmetic surgeon by now, though for now I'm pretty happy being female.

Ah that explains a lot. The whole females thinking they have a right to everything.... :)

Anywhoo... I race in real life too, and if someone slid under me and refused to let me hold the outside line, I would punch them square in the jaw after the race.

You seem to be refusing to accept that two cars can make it around a turn side-by-side....

I always warn someone if they have a car that isn't allowed, I usually host street car only rooms, and if someone uses a racecar, I tell them to change their car, if they don't I tell them once again and give them a minute to change their car or I kick them.

We do have the right to everything. Anyway if I've sounded like I'd do it on every corner then that's wrong, sure corners can be taken by 2 or even 3 cars, but on the occasion where it's tighter, and I have then line, it's going to be taken, though not if there's a wall right next to you, with even just a self preservation point of view, it'd end in contact and slowing me down, though that would be an illegal move. I'd say that out of every 20 - 30 overtakes, 1 would be like this. One occasion would be where a corner has a double apex, say for example Montreal (you probably know the corner)

Are we seriously discussing this overtake business? Someone spoke earlier of not being faster but being dirtier.Surely if you have left a car width (even almost a car width with some apex) well then the guy behind, slower or not, can do you in the braking zone, no?
and yeah i feel if your halfway up my inside it's my own fault wether i end up beached, a place behind or set up for the next turn.

Perhaps our points of view are not that far apart then.

My only point was that there is no problem going inside of somebody - just be aware that they are there and may still be there as you try to accelerate out of the turn. It's not always going to be possible to hit the outside rumble strip every time in situations like this.

In the give & take of racing, either car/driver may yield to make it easier for both parties involved (this should happen 90% of the time). In the last lap of a race though, I'm holding my outside line and I'd expect the inside car to respect that line. If they have the inside still at the next turn, then chances are they'll be able to clear and pull away at that time.

Wrong car is just a stupid reason to kick peoples for.

I think I got kicked last night because I beat the room host and he was of another nationality, oops...

I think there should be an option for invisible cars (non contact) cars that can hit each other always ends in tears in most rooms.

Reminds me of TrackMania Nations Forever, because everyone there was playing fair, because you drived through other drivers, you couldn't bump or ram them.
It would be cool option.

The again.. People would be complaining about it not being realistic. Like the drafting.. It already does this "ghost" thing sometimes in races.. Am I right?

Hi guys,

Loads of people get agravated when they get kicked, fact is most people are STUPID.

Let me explain, when im in a room and since GT5 is a SIM, you should play it like one if not go/create a kinder garden room. Maybe im getting old and whitout patient or intolerant, but to me this game should be played like you would if you were in real life.

Reasons why i (or friend that usually hosts to) kick all the time:

-Wrong cars (even tho you type and say what cars elegible, like class race, etc. Dont need to be a genious, i go in Finland room where i dont undestand a word i see everybody in road car i´m not going to choose a Calsonic.)
-Exiting pits (if you leave pit you have 2 see if someone is coming in flying lap and let him pass, not going to ruin his lap. Theres a map with icons reckon not hat hard)
-Cutting on Qualifying (cheating is sad in all ways, and sadly you get no penalties in qualifying. Trial Mountain and Nur GP/F are good example)
-Not waiting (bumping someone or loosing control can happen, but if so and you get advantage you have to wait for driver you overtooke or put in gravel. Theres something called gentleman driving, besides fact in real life would get black flag)
-Dirty driving (using others to do corners, bumping faster drivers, overtaking in stupid places causing accidents, etc. God i wich IA/penalties were way better even in online gaming)

Besides other obvious reasons of not respecing people, country discrimination, etc, those reasons listed are more then enough to get kicked, i want to play with fast and clean drivers.

People who don´t like/agree, thats the beauty of it...loads of servers out there where they can play.

Tc all and nice races M8s.

I know how you feel.

There are just WAY to many retards playing this game.

When I create a lobby with the name "550PP Road Cars only!" this is always happening:
- Some random dude joins and takes a race car, I say "no race cars or kick". Then he leaves
- Later another one joins and takes a RMed Elise or ZR1. I say "no race cars" and they answear "this is not a race car"... my answear "try to fool someone else" + kick.
- My favorite type of gt5 retard is the type of player, who joins a lobby (with settings like 550pp + sport soft tires) and immediatly asks "MORE POWER PLS" "race tire pls"
- And finally, the impatient player, who joins the server, takes the typical mainstream car (f.e. a bugatti veyron) and wants me to start the race, eventhough the server isn`t filled.

Can I "Like" a thread? lol

I try to do the best I can but I do occasionally bump people. I ain't perfect and sometime I have trouble judging people's braking speeds. I tend to late brake. But if I do hit someone, I let off the gas and coast for a bit for my error. Unless the race is set to give me a penalty. But throw myself or anyone else off the road? Happens all the time and it sucks.

So the person on the outside shouldn't accept he's lost position? Sorry, but if you've lost position, don't try and stay pushing the other car into an accident situation, pull back and then go on the offensive yourself, if you're going to try and stick it out, don't blame me if your move cost you to go off track, as for one you shouldn't have left room if you didn't want overtaking, and another you lost the position so it's not really my problem if you can't yield.

If you can't handle an aggressive racing move, then that's not my problem, that's motorsport, and you're not going to see many races where people don't make a move, just incase they upset someone who ends up off track because they couldn't accept a place loss. I think you'll find for example in the BTCC, racers put their lights on to indicate they're going to make an overtaking move, so that you know to yield in the case of an aggressive move and not to go and be silly and try and hold position when the other person has the line.

Obviously you have never raced in real life nor do you understand how racing in real life works. I haven't lost my position until you are completely clear of me. If you make it up to my driver's position before the turn in point, you have earned the right to that racing line, inside or outside and each driver is obligated to leave enough room for the other so there is no contact. You are not entitled to the entire width of the corner. Most tracks and corners are wide enough to allow side by side racing and in a corner where it is not wide enough the onus is on the following driver not to attempt a pass there.

Sounds to me like what you really lack is the skill to control your car in a high pressure situation and that you can't race inside someone without letting your car drift out and hitting them. The solution for that is practice. When I practice for a race or just run laps I don't always run the racing line. I run inside and outside on all the likely passing corners to see what the grip is like there. You can go wide in turn one for example at Laguna and maintain speed if that is all the lead driver allows you as is his right to do.

If everyone read and understood the GTPlanet Racing Rules we'd all have a much more enjoyable experience.

Thanks for backing me up. Glad I'm not the only one with that point of view....

So because I'm quicker, I'd have to wait until you leave something like 3 car widths from an apex and hope that nobody decides to try and make a move behind me? I've never really seen that before, I think though I've seen where there's just about a car width, and that they hold the line, and the other person ends up yielding or going off the track to avoid contact.

If I'm more than half way up your car, you can see me there, you know I'm coming, and it's upto you to either yield, or try to hold your line and get the launch on the exit, or keep so close that you can take a wide line into the next corner and brake late, and retake the position. If though it backfires on you, I hold the better line and only leave you with the dirty part of the track, or the grass to go off on, kinda your problem for leaving a car width of room from the apex and for not realising I am going to overtake but yet you decided to try and push on anyway. By no means will I ram you or make contact, but I'm not going to just sit there while you hinder my race.
The driver ahead all ways gets the right of way as long as it's not something like his a lap down and if you are running neck and neck though a coner it is proper racing equdite to not give up postion but give enough room no allow a bit of under steer or oversteer with out causing contact. Bumping and taps are part of racing but there is a limit to how hard you can hit an other car.

Well, those are good reasons to kick people. When I see you in a lobby, I'm going to join you.

I once got kicked because I rear-ended the host but it was because someone behind me decided not to brake and use my car as a brake, so it launched me into the host. I also have a DS3 so when in a tight spot its harder to not hit someone.

Lol. When I kick people, I always say "How do you move a football" if they say "you kick it" then I'll kick them.

if I have a good line and can pass you and you decide not to yield, then sorry but I'm going to push you off the line, if you end up in the gravel that's not my problem

This ^ is what they call "dirty driving" (or Aspec driving).

And, FYI, it is expressly against the GTP OLR Rules:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=111241
H:
The position of other drivers must always be respected.
.........
B:
Pushing other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is strictly prohibited.
.........
A:
The behind driver must take all necessary care and responsibility not to run into an ahead driver.
.........
The ahead driver IS entitled to be slower or use longer and earlier braking zones than others. They are also entitled to turn in earlier or later and/or apex earlier or later.
.........
A:
When approaching the turn/apex of turn, the car which "holds" the inner side of turn has entrance-advantage and other driver(s) must refrain from endangering him by his actions.
B:
You must establish substantial overlap with the car ahead before they reach the corner’s turn-in point to have the right to drive up their inside, or to expect them to leave inside room for you.
.........
Neither driver should squeeze the other toward the inside or outside of the corner during the apex or exit.

So my advice to you, uncle_hayley_j, is that you avoid races that use the GTP OLR Rules, because you won't be welcomed in them.
The maneuver you talk about is considered, at best, that of an "Aspec Driver" (ie: a newbie to online racing)... or worse, a dirty driver.

Say what you will in the form of excuses... But you're probably outnumbered in this forum. Most people around here frown upon, and look down upon, that sort of tactic.

But in pub lobbies, one has to remember something about a lot of the dirty drivers that need to be kicked. I suspect that many times, they are in reality, unsupervised children. And should be treated as thus. I commented in the past about this here:

Go Punch!! 👍

I properly hate dirty races. The only time dirty racing is fun is when you are in a nascar lobby that only wants dirty driving.

I don't think so, but kicking them without warning is stupid.

Yeah, of course. Tell them to get their car corrected, and if they do, why kick them? If they don't, they are trolling.

Kick people if they can't play well with others, such as if they can't handle passing and braking in a way where they don't run into other cars. Give people the benefit of the doubt in cases where it might be an accident. Though if they don't allow a wronged competitor to get his position back, you gotta kick them.

I agree with you 100% but I think pulling out of the pit stop and hitting people already on a lap can sometimes not be avoidable because you are automatically driven out of the pits and automatically begin to accelerate at the end of the pits which slings you right onto the track and sometimes you just can't avoid a wreck.

Yes, I see nothing wrong with it - if it's all upfront, like the rooms labeled specifically, "Dirty Nascar". If everyone knows that's how it's going to be, and it's agreed upon, then by all means, nothing wrong with that!!

In fact, my bf said some race rooms they ought to just label them "dirty - no whining" LOL If they did, I would see nothing wrong with that. If it's up-front that's the rules or lack thereof... then fine. People should play whatever way they want to play with others who AGREE.

The problem is that lots of dirty drivers like to do it in rooms where people are driving clean, in order to have an advantage... Because in a dirty room, they wouldn't have the advantage if everyone's doing it!

I salute you KnuckleDuster
Mind If I dont add you? I really need more people to race with that actually knows how to actually race like real motorsports. Even though I am a noob, I try my best to follow it.

Had an argument one time after a race at Cote D' Azur, he kept blocking me and rear ending me in the chicane. He claimed as he is just messing up your racing line not racing dirty. :grumpy:

OP I like the way you look at it, but I would probably get kicked in your room ;) The gentlemen rule is rather strict and is unfair sometimes as it's not always clear who's fault it was... I rarely play online because most rooms are just stupid kiddies fooling around or they are dead serious, like you and I'm somewhere in the middle! Not yet good and clean enough, but willing to do so, still this needs practise, but often it is too late and I get kicked and then have to search an other good room, that often results in entering 10 rooms and all are bad and that makes it frustrating and I go back offline tuning or hotlapping...

Pro penalty system like in FIFA, with a race cancel rate and some statistics on how you drive... Time penaltys/race or off track time/race time or something in this direction, it would be easy for PD to add such a system and would show you what driver to opponents are!

Forgive me for being blunt, Basilea... But I think your goal might be the problem, not the rules.

I think in order to become a clean fast competitive driver, you need practice in clean, competitive races.
To get this experience, without getting kicked or unwelcome - just be CAUTIOUS. YES, you will LOSE mostly at first. But you will gain experience on how to be that clean & strict and also be competitive & fast.

I think some people's problem is that they are impatient... They want to win so badly, that they can't imagine how to do it cleanly.
Well, like everyone else... You need to start by LOSING cleanly, before you can learn to win cleanly!

This is typical of any competitive past time. You need to start at the bottom.
If your pride prevents that, then yes, you will be stuck in dirty sloppy pub lobbies.

This is what I have come to believe.
And why I think it is such a shame if people snub newbies... or ridicule slow drivers. I, for one, applaud clean driving newbies who sacrifice their speed to drive cleanly.
And I hope I continue to say that after I'm not one of them! ;)

(I realize I have an advantage over some people on this forum on this count, in that I am not in possession of a fragile male ego. LOL ;))

iamsupernasty
As for the OP, I'm with you man! I run a super strict lobby, and people who obey the rules seem to appreciate it. What's more, we can have epic 5-10 lap races without any issue between half a dozen cars or more.

I allow NO contact whatsoever. Zero tolerance for dicks and retards.

Are you saying any contact period? Or no intensional contact? Because after all mistakes are always made.
