I like a good challenge but...

Haven't golded the first race yet, but it is all about practise! And if I won't make it (I doubt that, though), it is ok with me! At least we have something like a challenge and fun races! I want more of that and already looking forward to the other 2 races!

Just an other note, please PD give us seasonal championships! Just like it is now but, e.g. for the Fiat make it a 3-5 races championship...
 
Not a fan of these seasonals. Everyone complains about grinding but how is doing the same race 20 times as you try for the gold without making money the subsequent 19 times any better? (Aside from the Fiat 500 race, which requires corner cutting anyway). Old seasonals were perfect. If you want a challenge then limit yourself accordingly, for the rest of us who weren't born with a steering wheel in our hands we'll take the slight advantage in PP/HP/whatever. PD's inconsistency with these seasonals is astounding. The game should be fun, not a chore. Colour me disappointed.

No one is making you do the seasonals. You complain about inconsistencies in them, but then turn right around and justify why they should do it. If there were all the same, it only hits 1 crowd. Having all different seasonals means every demographic will find something they like. Which is the point. I don't do the drift trials, because I'm not a drifter. Should I come on here and cry like a baby that they shouldn't have drift trials because I wasn't 'born sideways'? No. Grow up. Variety is a good thing and exactly what the seasonals should be.

That´s why they called "EXPERT" and not "BEGINNER" ;)

It just is impossible to please everyone! Variety is the key! And it is great that PD is trying to find a way, how most like it! Where do you have to corner cut? Is the yellow/grey tarmac not track? I only had to cut on this two corners, but honestly I don't feel that this is not legal and it doesn't reset laptimes in practise mode if you do, so it is ok by PD, as far as I know.

Now people complain again that it is too difficult and they want back the old seasonals, absurd! AGAIN VARIETY IS THE KEY! Great job on this PD! And why should it be a chore? Only reason this could be is that you make it a chore for yourself... and you don't make it fun for yourself! Noone really has to gold anything or will be judged because gold medals and if you care about that then there is something going wrong...
 
Loved these new old school seasonals. In the Fiat one you need to be extra smooth with the inputs. Think about your steering wheel as a braking device and use as little steering angle as possible as the car loses speed easily.

Initially had most trouble with the Subaru but then i did a engine overhaul to my car and was able to take the first place right after the corkscrew on the last lap. Remember to take in to account that the tires get warmer after the first lap and you can push a little bit harder. Don't waste time on colliding with the other cars unless you are going to lean on them inside the corners :p. With 4wd car you want to concentrate on the corner exits as the car has superior traction there.

After the Subaru seasonal i would like to remind people who use their already used cars to take them to full maintanance. Just the little bit of extra torque can make all the difference. The AI in these events is heavily scripted so take notice on their behaviour as that can help you on your subsequent tries.

Come on, it's not like you have to do them to complete the game or make extra money - there's the x3 for Cr & XP on the previous races for that. It took me hours to nail the Fiat challenge the other day and the sense of satisfaction was huge. I'm not bothered for cash & XP anymore though, being 40/40 and 19m+ in the kitty,so maybe I'm biased.
 
I know that if future Seasonal Events will be as difficult as these, I will simply stop playing the game - and I don't think I am alone. To me that is not fun at all.

There seems to be a WIDE gap - TOO wide - between what Polyphony Digital think is normal and what they think is difficult.

But okay...... they DO state that the new Seasonal is for expert drivers, so if future Seasonals on normal difficulty will also have prices like these - other than credits/money - I can accept it.
 
Loved the new events, something about stamping "expert" on them made me determined to 'Gold' the lot!
The only bothersome one was Laguna Seca, is it me or do the tyres actually suffer from pick-up? Occasionally I'd go wide on the exit of turn 1 and then understeer off the road in 2! Couldn't do a thing about it... hits restart. Annoyingly I was awarded an R10 - I've already got one, rubbish.
Very happy to see that suspension tuning wasn't required!
 
It's only about the driving, nothing about tuning. You should be able to win the Fiat race by just buying a new 500 from the dealer and racing is straight away without any modification parts or any tuning adjustments.

Exactly! There is so few hard challenges in gt5, that to complain about a expert seasonal event who you dont even need to do if you want to finnish the game is simply ridicuolus.
 
So any advice on manual/auto? I usually drive in auto, tried manual, not sure if it helped. I feel so uncoordinated with it. Too many things to think about. Will shifting it myself make me faster?
 
They definitely are much more challenging than the usual events but I like it.

So far I've only got Gold on the Fiat event. You probably could do it in a standard car but mine had on the flywheel and clutch mods, a sports filter and height adjustable suspension. It took me three tries. The first time I was way off the pace, something like 7 seconds behind but I was getting faster every lap as I realized how much speed I could carry through the corners. Second try I did a bit of suspension tuning and drove fast from the start but lost by 0.5s :grumpy: Came back the third time pushing even harder and got the win by 0.7s. You can't make up much time on the straight bits so it's all about going through the corners and fast as possible.

Ran the Elise race once but only managed a 4th place. Gotta do some tuning to the suspension and try some more. Also have to practice a bit and get a little smoother with the car. I was pushing it too hard and end up losing a lot of time being sideways. I'll have another go at it later. Man I've missed these types of events.

Because this time it's not about grinding for credits, it's about improving your driving technique. Grinding just reinforces bad habits and never pushes you to improve your skills.

Anyway with the other Seasonals tripled in value, I just don't understand the complaints.
 
These are rather hard for a "average" GT5 player. Ive been trying the damn Fiat race for over an hour, each time only getting 2nd and being 5-7sec's off. I tried the Lotus race a few times but I really hate that track but managed 4th. Driving that Subaru with the set up they allow is like trying to turn those Drag cars from GT2:grumpy: I driver a '11 WRX STi with the sport tech package and the 2 dont compare at all.
 
Your exiting speed and smooth driving is the most important. Remember making corrections...even on straight aways will cost you precious time.

Amen.

If you're working and working to fine tune your technique, you're getting the most out of the game. That's not grinding. That's the complete opposite of grinding. If one didn't want to do that, consider that there are other fine games that are probably more suited for that person.

Either you are putting on the power too quick on exit , or you have arrived too quickly to the corner in the first place. Or both.

now, i'm an above average player. i've golded the S license (twice) with little problem. i've turned the aides off and i still can't get that d@mn fiat within 5 seconds of first place. the best i can get is 2:04.xxx and my primary issue is the d@mn obsticle course created by the retarded AI littering the field. i'm forced to scrub so much speed avoiding them that i can't put down a fast lap time with any consistancy. however, i haven't done any weight reduction and balast tuning yet, so things may change when i get home and have another go at it.

but man is this frustrating
 
2nd on the Lotus one, really excited this game is challenging again. LOVE the fact that not everyone can beat these events
 
It's really only irritating if you're used to the game being easy.

It's actually a much better game now, IMO. You don't have to play the expert races, so you can still bring an overpowered car to other events. Everyone wins, now. Before, when races were much easier, the people wanting a real challenge had to race online, and frankly, I do not like the online component in this game yet.

And these expert races are kicking my ass.
