I Quit GT4, PD made it way to hard for the Average Racer.

Nope, just saying you're really enjoying your GT4 experience. I'm not going quite that slow cause I want to get cars, to get money, to get to drift.. :sly: But however you choose to play is your thing. Just nice to see someone not ashamed at taking there time through the game.
 
I think a LOT OF PEOPLE have driven more than 20 hours alreay with the game, I've only got it a week now (well, playing a LOT then) and have sticken more time in drifting and this forum than playing the mission hall and the actual races:) and I'm at +27% complete!:D I've had all IB liscence mission hall and have A, B, IA, IB liscences
 
In my opinion the game is too easy, you can take a 800hp car into practically any race, add the driving assists to that and it's a piece of cake. If you're not that good just dont pay attention to the a-spec points and don't do any of the missions, you should be fine, and when you completed everything you might be good enough to do the missions etc.
 
I love this game, and I'm glad PD made parts of it insanely difficult. Even though I've broken a controller over the Charmonix S liscence, i still love this game as a whole. The past few games I have played have been way too easy for me (Halo 2 on hard, and GTA:San Andreas) and I've completed them over 40 or so hours.
GT4, 70+ hours in, 94% done, ~5200 A & ~5100B. And since PD has added cars to win for each of the 3 ranks under the liscence, I found myself going back and pushing myself to find where I can take a few tenths and hundreths off my liscence times.
If you're giving up because you feel its too hard, maybe it is. But before you stop playing the game, go back, practice on some tracks, and tune your car to the track. And if you still have troubles with it, just go to the arcade mode and have some fun there.

For all you guys who are saying the game is too easy, yet don't challenge yourself to make it harder, I'm curious what you would have preferred? What I mean is, the game attempts to make it playable for ALL skill levels (or at least as broad a range as possible). It's got to be playable for little kids as well as adults, you know.

If it was ONLY hard, then they would have alienated a huge market. If it was ONLY easy, they would have turned off the other half of the market. So, they made it easy enough for some kid who doesn't care much about the game to play, yet gave you the option to make it hard on yourself (A-spec stuff) and added some challenging events as well.

How would you (non-specific reference to all people who feel it's too easy/hard) have met both demands/requirements more effectively?
 
I've played this game for many many hours already, and I feel it's a very hard game, i.e. I could only win certain races if I b-spec'ed them, because it's no fun driving a pos 60-100hp car in a "race" lol, or that I must not be good enough. I have all of the liscenses except the S, and the iA was pretty difficult until I tried driving exactly like the demo, then I passed most of them in 3 tries or less. I'm about 33% through the game, and the hardest part so far was the proffesional championship, wow that was hard. No way should you quit if you think it's too hard. Practice will solve everything.

I'm not one who likes to get an overpowered car to blow away competition, but it is possible, so it is an easy game. It would be hard if the entire game would have been like the missions.



They should have made an Easy and Hard mode, so people like myself don't have to force themselves to get a fair competition in a race. It is annoying finding out that I just entered a tournament and blow the competition away at the first lap of the first race already.



But I haven't played in the extreme hall yet, so I might be back here complaining that the game is too hard... lol. :dopey:
 
My dad has some serious troubles with this game. He can't make the car go in a straight line most of the time because he hits the stick to hard left or right and doesn't know how to be easy with it so you can make slight corrections here and there. He is learning to brake before entering a corner. So much of doing good is memorizing each track. That way you know how much to brake. I recommend buying a car with around 150-250 hp and then put a super close transmision in. That way you are naturaly slow on straights (like 110-140) and then when you get into a corner you have a lot of lee way on braking. With the close gear ratio you will acclerate out of the corners much faster. You will find it very fun when you finish 1st place with less hp than the rest of the cars.

What does this driving assist thing do? I haven't seen it in the options (then again, this is the first I've heard of it).

It is in the tuning options of every car under "Driving Aid"... explanations are with every option, but practically the aids prevent the wheels from spinning or under/oversteer.... turn them off for all your cars, it'll make it more fun to drive. Might have to get used to it, but eventually it will reward you with more fun/speed. For high powered cars you might want to keep TCS at value 1 or 2 to prevent a "burnout" from happening when starting the race.

I'm actually finding this game easier than GT3. I admit I've only been able to do one mission past 10, but getting all my licenses was easy. I did all my Super Licences first try.

You sure that it's just that you haven't gotten better since then? lol. I thought the same thing at first.

THen I played GT3 again...and got all golds quickly.

So you're just saying you'd like to have the freedom to manipulate the variables reduced to just "Hard or "Easy", right? I'm sure that would have worked as well. Although I've never really considered a loss of more options as a good thing, I guess it would still get the job done. It sounds like you just don't want to go through all the work of trying to find the right balance. You want it done for you. I can understand how some people might want that.

This game being alot harder has turned me off it. I can't do any of the Mission after Mission 10. I can't even get close to 8 of the Super Licences I have left.

If your not a mad GT4 fan this game all seems to hard and frustrating. They should of Introduced a medal system in the missions. Such as if you pass all 6 cars you get gold, 5 is silver and 4 is bronze. Then the average racer might have a chance.

As for Licences some seem near impossible to even get bronze, I don't have a clue how some of you manage to Gold everything.

With "hard" I mean that there should be more restrictions, for example a maximum amount of horsepower to enter the race. Easy should make it possible to play the game as it is right now. If I don't have to force myself on a lazy day I just add an extra turbo stage and own competition, this sucks, feels like I'm cheating myself, being able to do that makes me lazy at times.
 
Just a thought for everyone saying that PD should impose restrictions on us to make the game harder. How about showing a little self control. You don't have to win every time out just to have some fun racing. I have ran the GSX-r/4 in the All Japan GT Championship. While I didn't wine every race I won enough for the championship. And it was rewarding answering a personal challenge I set for myself.

Stand up and take responsability for your own actions don't rely on someone or something else to control you. If you take the Sauber into the beginner hall don't whine and say its PD's fault for making the game too easy they didn't choose the car for you. And if there is someone out there that needs what some of us would think is an overbuilt car to be competitive don't feel bad, its a game meant for personal enjoyment.

I guess what I'm trying to say is everyone should set their own goals within the game and quit bictching. Lets have some fun afterall this is one of the best racing games we've got to play so far.

This is not meant as an attak on anyone just some collected thoughts from reading the forums for the past couple of weeks.

Wait, wait, wait... the Corvette 427 Coupe- not pretty? Are you mad, matey? That machine is a shining example of American engineering. Well, one of many. But around High Speed Ring, it's pretty cool with it in GT1.

It's not really a game completing tactic, but I think a good part of winning races involves your ability to clear your mind and relax. Before starting a race, you'll hear either pre-race song. Both are pretty nice melodies. Then when you take a look at the track you're racing, you'll kind of realize just how lovely it is. For example, you may note the lovely surroundings of Tahiti Maze, the sparkly paradise of Special Stage Route 5, or maybe even the lovely job on Grand Valley. You may to may not like some of the menu music, but actually, it's pretty soothing. Kind of clears your mind before the race. There are two songs played, and it kind of helps. I mean, my suggestions. Don't take these for gold.
 
Spacing out works wonders. The best laps seem to happen when you are just staring at the screen, the controls seem to move on their own, and you can't remember half of it afterwards. :dunce:
 
I did not bother reading this whole thread so sorry if I am repeating anyone's comment.

This game is at some points way too easy, now that they have a B-Spec mode, the game has basically no challenge, and all the AI's are stupid unaggressive granny's that force you into walls because they go so slow but thats if you actually don't pass them on the first turn.

For a tip with driving missons, the point is to PASS the car NOT GETTING A GOOD TIME.

Think Grand Theft Auto, I rammed about 5 guys off the road in Driving Missons to get first place, I think I am finished with all of them.(Note do not directly hit them with the front of your car, you will get a penalty for that)

And if hitting doesn't work, all the missons that look really hard and you think are impossible to pass have turns that can be cut.

A simple example is test number 8(?) With the Miatas which I passed later without being cheap. Just cut through the final corner, the AI is too busy braking early to actually catch up to you. And the final misson for the first set of missons you cut through EVERY corner, the corners are so huge you DO NOT need to hit the brakes, just go for it, there is no way the AI's will catch up unless you actually take the corners the right way, then they get a sudden boost and hit your from behind and off the road :crazy:

We are talking about a game right ? There HAS to be a structure in the game, and the game has to be challenging .... Why don't you take away the "money" feature and the " win a car after a cup " feature and the "licence feature " ? Yeah because it would be boring...
And by the way, where is the difference with a hard, normal and easy mode ? I also decide for myself which difficulty I want to have. Setting my own goals... pah that is possible, but take Splinter Cell : In your definition of a game I could also just run through the levels with a chaingun, a invisible feature like superman, wow that would be fun, but hey, you could still act like an agent, hiding in the shadows ...silly ? yes of course, and if it was like that, the game would have a low rating...
Gt4 is like a game with all cheats activated, and you want me to spend hours to find a way not to use them.... Wake up, GT4 has fantastic grafics, game mechanics and a huge amount of cars, nevertheless the game structure is WEAK, made for the average gamer .... of course freaks can always find their challenge, but that is not how games are meant to be... and as it was stated before K. Yamauchi wants to change that again... I play for over 15 years now, I have hundrets of (orginal) games for over a dozen consoles, including almost every racing game availible ( Kaido Battle 1/2, Shoutoku B. since SFC over DC to PS2 inkl Shuto. 01,Wangan Midnight, Battle Gear 1,2 (also Side by Side), Rally, Touring car, F1, Nascar, Drifting games .. well as I said, most of the availibe racing games... I'm not " *****ing around ", I have every GT ( inkl GT2000 demo, really rare) in its japanese original since the week it came out , I have Gt4 since late 2004, so you may believe me that I'm not the average loser or poser, who likes to make "important posts" in forums, I simply learned to realize if I see a good or a bad game structure... GT4 is great yes, but it could have been sooo much more....

Is there someone who passed mission 23 (ia): slipstream battle 3: GT-R (test course)???

I can't seem to pass this mission. Tried everything I can think of. Always 1.4 sec behind the first yellow GT-R at the finish (3rd lap). ===> PAL version.

How can I pass this test??? :crazy: :nervous: :grumpy:
 
I can't pass the Driving Mission with the yellow 350Z vs the red Skyline sedan which u must overtake. Argh :crazy:

The only thing I hate about the game is that it automatically saves things once u choose a different car to hop in to and there is no option to load the memory card (where u last saved at) + a lot of prize cars u cannot sell and get money for like that stupid Nike car thats just sad :yuck:

But overall I love the game hehe 👍
