I thought GT5 was about being the BEST SIMULATOR, not the PRETTIEST!

While GT5 is clearly the prettiest simulator, you guys forgot what this game is all about! This game is about giving a true-to-life experience in your living room! So what if all the cars don't have cockpit view? Was it ever about that? No, not really. The physics is what most people should be focusing on right now. Making the game prettier and having more cockpits really doesn't add to that. And I bet most of us will be using a DFP/G25 and will be using the bumper cam anyways..

Yes, it would've been cool to have 1000 interiors, but it's really not that important for GT, I think. We all played and LOVED the other four Gran Turismo games and none of them had cockpit views..

I play GT because of the car selection; getting to see my favorite street cars in the best graphics available, then driving them in a semi-realistic physics engine has always been fun. For pure realism though, GT is not the game I play. Live For Speed, rFactor, GT Legends, netkar pro, etc all dwarf GT in actual realism.

PD has always put the graphics up above all else with GT games, except physics maybe, so you can't really say that. I mean look at GT5P as well as the premium cars. They hid standard cars from us for 5 years and just fed us eye candy. Also, gamers these days are still drawn in by graphics more than anything, of course that's not the case with most of the people here.
I'll be happy with the game so doesn't really matter.

Lets hope that changes when we get GT5 'cuz from the looks of the TT demo it is getting harder to drive the cars with all aids turned off in pro physics. I can hear the whinners now saying the car feels like it's on ice but its not IMO it's how the car feels when you are at the limit of adhesion.

I find the cockpit view very important in simulating an experience. After all that is where you would exactly be when racing a real car. You wouldn't be on the bumper, or on the bonnet, you would be looking over a dashboard, dials and steering wheel.

With all respect to PD. I thought that was extremely shady. Just saying...

And a wheel, when your already using one? It'd be better if they included a hood cam or a dash cam(like GTA4).

I can also consider my wheel the actual wheel and the desk or RIGG its mounted on as my dash and finaly my monitor as the windscreen in 1080p. :sly: so I can live with or without it. (from the words of Bono)

Yes you can, but many people want the view from inside the car. Having a bumper or hood cam isn't very accurate. When driving you do see the interior of the car. The bumper and hood cams in essence are not very realistic and do not simulate the view of a real car.

I'll use the hood view if its available but the missing cockpit views doesn't really bother me. If no hood view then bumper i guess, I can't stand the roof view. I'm sure the physics will be great as this and the car selection is what I'll be playing for... and of course to challenge my fellow GTPlantiers online :P

well i played gtr2 and rfactor for years, and gt5TT surly comes close if not better.

The new Physics will kick butt, aids are for pansies ;) .
the cars wont be harder to drive but more of a challenge to make players a better, more skillful driver. I'm not the best drifter around so I'm looking forward to learning a thing or two in that area. With bumper cam.

IMHO GT has always been about the graphics. Always has and always will. PC simmers are not to bothered about the graphics asking as the game has excellent physics etc.

The average GT fan is more preocupied by the look.
Just see the amount of posts on here spouting off about how GT looks compared to Forza.

Me I'm happy to take average graphics with realistic handling and appropriate selectable veiws.

Edit. Tip for Heath. When learning to drift try chase cam, it's about the best cam for learning that art.

Agreed, many do and many will get them. Just not all of them. But then again it's not a perfect world we live in anyways. :) can't have it all as they say.

Fair enough, the screen might show the view from the drives eye, but unless you are right on top of the TV, you are not sat where the driver would be, so please explain how that is a more sim-like experience?

Anyway, this split car thing is a total joke, and almost reason enough to skip GT5, get a slim Elite 360, and re-invest in whatever machine GT6 lands on (assuming there are no 'tard cars left in it).

Here's a thought.. what if PD never went ahead with cockpit view (remember this means fm3 would never have, and possibly many other games) and instead focused on bringing us the level of detail of the premium cars exteriors to all the cars. win win win?? yea i think so... oh well i think PD will learn from this honestly

It's a really sore point and it has split both sides straight down the middle. Nothing we can do now, just have to see what updates are released in the future.

I would prefer to have cockpit views in all cars than a premium version of 200 cars. I would rather the graphics were all high res GT4 models. unfortunately that does not sell games, graphics normally do.

I agree, simulators are about physics, not camera views.

So how do you experience the physics sitting on the roof of a car; or on the hood; or steering from a hovering 10 feet platform; 5 meters back from the car?

Or is the physics what you would experience behind the wheel and in the seat?

That is why I want cockpit view and I do not care if all 800 (sub) standard cars have a generic-one cockpit fits all view so that I can experience the most important physics from behind the steering wheel! 👍

Is there actual confirmation of no cockpit view yet? I am holding out hope for 'generic' cockpit views in the '800' until actual confirmation.

If it is true no cockpit view whatsoever in the 800, you can be sure I'll rarely drive , or hover :) those around any track !

GT is about realistic driving and realistic looking. I think it does both 👍

this is the most smart post of this 3D!me to played for year's Rfactor and Gtr2 and I really found the TT physic even more realistic and hard!!

I would prefer to have no cockpit views becaust it's unrealistic unless you have three screens/curved screens, and sit right up close to them. Instead, they should have given us 500 top-notch premium cars. The game is all about how good the cars look from the outside and how well they drive. Who the hell cares if you can see individual stitches in the leather while you are racing...?

At least give me a generic cockpit view-no stitching required!

Do any of you guys actually play?
I dont see any of the top GTP'ers complaining.

All the critics who have such brilliant ideas should make their own game, and not complain about ones they are not forced to buy, play or discuss.

PD are excellent at stitching.

Stitching us up lol.

I don't know how to program a computer. If I had the money I'd have to outsource.

Hmm! I can't find the emicon for "Laughing in Stitches" can someone make one up?:):sly::dopey::nervous::crazy:💡

Ah, the old, "if you think you can do better" response. So unoriginal, so overused, so irrelevant. People have the right to express their views however they see fit. Personally, I think 500 cars with mid-range detail between the premium and 'tard cars with fully modelled interiors would have been a far better, and more respected choice than what we have been given. The problem is, they set their own trap be quoting such stupidly high numbers in the first place. Once they realised that doing the models how they wanted them would take far too long, they fell back onto old assets and here we are...
