Oh my goodness, I had to login just to show my appreciation for this post.

GT1, GT2, man all the music was great. Especially GT2, the jazzy stuff was beautiful.

Not one time yet has nostalgia lived up to my memories, the PSN Store ability to download PS1 games brought this fact brutally to me.

Crash Bandicoot, Twisted Metal, Final Fantasy 7 etc none of these lived up to my memories once i'd played them now, somethings should just stay memories to avoid ruining them, just like the GT1 /2 menu's

One thing I like about the Gran Turismo series is its menu music.... I love it!!!
I always listen to it before anything, leave my PS3 on just to listen that music..

I would me happy if they were back, but actually I like GT5p's too

Who could forget East City?

I definitely want traditional GT music for GT5. Honestly, the jazz material in Prologue is actually fantastic and it's so calm and relaxing, but for GT5 I'd so much rather what we used to get. It just fits the game much better.

There's also one from GT4, i think?

would be great to get gt1 menu music, some remixes maybe ?

Hell no keep that old MIDI racket out, seriously when I used to play GT2, all I got from people sitting as I play was, my god that sound is horrible, everytime I changed the cursor to something else, that annoying discrete beep, just as much as everything else was discrete and annoying.
GT4 on the other hand, I absolutely love it when you go in you realise you arent playing some cheap 8 hour game, but a elegant monster of a game, Im already sad the 'World map' has been thrown out for a more conventional and typical game menu, and surely not the music.

Yes please!! im falling asleep with GT5p menu music.
"Daft Punk is playing at my house, at my house!"

Or, ZOMG...N.E.R.D.! Anyone who's had the misfortune to endure Forza 2's awful soundtrack will know just what I'm getting at.

Mhh? I think the Menu-Screen as seen in the GC-Demo is the same thing as the GT4 Startup-Screen, which had all the stuff like in the GT5-Demo only vertically placed. Arcade Mode, GT-Mode, Theater, Options etc.

I dont think(or hope) they throw out that beloved Map-Style for the GT-Mode.

Ontopic: I love most of the GT1 Menu-Tracks...but then again, the slow Jazz Music from GT5P is cool too.

Forza 2 music is just a bit better but not a whole more, Forza 1 soundtrack is amazing.

By the way, nice to see that you CANT stand someone saying anything wrong about the game without "attacking" back

Yea I just heard the GT1 themes, they have alot of tension in their sound and they pump me up pretty much for a race. :) If they would take those compositions, give them updated instruments I'll be happy.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to be a jerk or anything, but FM1 may have the worst soundtrack of any game I ever played. It was just cheap instrumental covers of classic rock songs. Microsoft could have at least tried to get the licensed music from the real artists themselves, I guess they were just too lazy.

FM2's soundtrack was slightly better than the first game's (but that's not saying much). Instead of having bad rock, it had bad techno. Big improvement, guys 👎

Meanwhile Gran Turismo hasn't had a good soundtrack in years. The menu music has always been brilliant, but the in-game soundtrack for GT3, GT4, and GT5P was just horrible mainstream pop (at least in the US versions). There were a few decent tracks, but nothing can compare to the GT1 and GT2 soundtracks.

Everyone has a different taste in music and as you could probably tell I'm really picky. So as long as there are custom soundtracks I will be happy :)

Thats your opinion, depends on tastes, i love it, the only bad thing is that get repetitive since theres no change in the style. If i had to pick the best soundtrack of Forza and Gran Turismo i would say GT2, that was amazing.

ps: Im not registered at neogaf so i dont know what are you guys talking about.

I almost forgot how good GT4's music was. This is an awesome recreation of From The East from GT2.

I really want more of this in GT5.

GT1s music was great, well for the PAL version at least. Don't like all the jazzy crap they added for the later games - sounds cheesy and boring to me.

The music for the different dealers in GT1 made them feel special and somehow made buying a car more satisfying.

I kinda like some music from GT1 but it would be weird in a GT5. You know it was nice at that time but now it's time to move up. The jazzy music menu is great and I hope it will be something similar in GT5. As for in-game music I really don't care because I always turn it off.

Agreed, 200%.

Obviously I guess I (we?) am not (aren't) saying that they should put the GT1 music in GT5, all I'm saying is that they should go ahead and use the style they've been using now and make additional music for each car brand and some of the different menus and they could have like some little remix/melodies of the old ones in there as a tribute but obviously would be new. At least that's what I think would please everyone!

PD is all about the details, I agree that playing is the most important part but the menu and the music is part of the overall package as well.

Has anyone got the sound when you unlock a license on either Gran Turismo or Gran Turismo 2? Love that sound :)
The one where you buy a new part for a car is great too :D

Actually, I found the GT4 list, whittled down, to be the best in-game racing soundtrack to any game. daiki kasho has done some of the best music for racing in GT4, with tracks such as "Good days, bad days" (ghost of Dead Man's Curve). Plus we got a great version of "Moon Over The Castle" by Synthetic - or two, though the longer version wasn't quite as good. I'm really grateful we got a few of those tracks from the Japanese version. Here's hoping that SONY will load up GT5 with even more great songs from all versions rolled into one.

As for the dealerships, I prefer the GT4 style of having excellent menu music - well, except for that awful, sluggish remix of the GT3 License Test music. Every time it cycles around, I dive into my garage to bypass it. :p

I will say that daiki kasho's stuff was very good. I am also grateful we got those tracks, but I feel like the US version really missed out on some great music. Case in point, I can't believe it took us six years to finally hear "Moon Over the Castle" in an American GT game! That's practically the theme song of the series, and it has been featured in every Japanese release so far. Again, I am grateful we eventually got it, but I don't understand why PD/Sony holds out on us like this.
