Yeah im not used to that "exciting nascar" style yet \(^_^)/

I like the rockingham oval though. Its much more interesting than those american ovals.

Im quite dissapointed with allot of this game, but the multiplayer aspect more than makes up for it. Like you I have had the framerate drop large amouts and sometimes the popup is awfull. Funny though the replays look quite nice?

The replays are okay.

I'm also a bit disappointed in the game. I'm actually trying to locate a PC copy of TOCA 2 at the moment.

I read somewhere today that V8 Supercars sold 280,000 copies in Australia since release!

I wouldve sold the game after completion, but the 4 player mode will keep me from selling it.
off topic

I really want to get my new comp so I can play LFS to play all the GTP people! it sounds like great fun.

off topic more

I have a feeeling that Colin Mcrae 3 will have simmilar handling to, toca racedriver. I really hope it doesnt I want to drive the ford Rs200 like I used to in the first colin mcrae game oh and the mk2 escort ~_-

I must admit I am a bit concerned about CMR3 as well, after TOCA. I think WRC2 might be the better one - they got the driving model pretty close in WRC, so it bodes well.

Yeah I know, but colin mcrae has a better dammage model. Mind you I havent seen any dammage for WRC2. I couldve picked up WRC for £20 so many times now, but I dont see the point anymore.

Do`h I dont have time to play toca today, mind you I bought me a BMW Williams F1 shirt, its cooooooooool!

edit:I used the word dandy it HAD TO BE DELETED

 I LOVE the nascar ovals... :P i'm up to the Lola championship and i just secured it with nurburgring left :D I'm off to kick landers arse :)

I think ill practice the European series with the Corvette theyre offereing me!

See how it fairs against the competition.
What car did anyone else use for the European series?

I learned something new today, you actually have to brake on the corners of the oval circuits :D

BTW are there 2 supras in the game?

I tried the elise in a single race and the supra and corvette killed it on rockingham oval.

Oh yeah have you noticed that there seem to be three cars with different interiors

Mini Cooper
TVR Challenge (racing tuscan)
Lotus Elise

Are there any others?
Because all the other cars seem to be exactly the same barring the fact that they have the manufacturers logo on it.

wow that was a good ending to LOLA :) Now i have to raise like 700,000 extra though

So the general consensus is ... this game is most bad ass? I just watched the four part videos that were released last month for "Race Driver". Looks like there are actually four seperate games. Is that correct?

No - they were showing off four aspects of the same game.

The game's not bad - I personally had very high hopes for it that haven't been quite met. The racing is fairly intense, but if you're a veteran of the TOCA series there's nothing to really frighten you. There's a couple of technical issues - when things get busy on screen there can be frightening frame rate drops, the game looks like a really good PSOne game, and the steering with the Logitech wheel is inconsistent, with some odd little bugs (like the wheel not realigning back to centre when racing, so you're running down the straight with the wheel pointed 15 degrees to the right).

The story mode does induce a few solid cringes, too.

Seems like I'm painting a bleak picture, but the pack racing does help - there's no too many games you'll play where if you make an error a pack of five cars suddenly pounce on you (most of which hit you).

Excellent ....

I think I could get into some big group racing. The six car matchups in GT3 aren't enough anymore, and I never got around to getting any of the F1 games. By the way, which of the many PS2 F1 games has highest recommendations?

~LoudMusic

Not many - I would wait for the Sony 2002 F1 game (989 Studios) which is due out Nov 1 in Australia. That had close to the best racing, and the controls were the best until you could no longer option ABS and TCS. People complained about how aggressive the AI was, but hey, it's GP racing, what do you expect?

You could check out the EA series (they're up to 2002 now!), I would recommend 2001 over 2000 if you're looking for a cheap copy - but they suffer from the usual EA issues - vague controls, all style and no substance.

At the moment im in the extreem frustration phaze, I did the aas series, after about 5 million reloads on the first race because I kept getting taken out on the second corner. Mind you I did manage to win other oval, killed sears point (because of many a 4 player race on this track) came second on the las vegas oval because of over eager AI drivers (I think it was nick landers or donnie mckane damn there arses! :P ). I then killed rammed the guy of the track to win the Toyota GT1 out of sheer frustration. Did the SEC with the 7up dodge vipers (I really like the handling of the viper oddly enough) and im now practicing the aussie tracks so I can own that series.

Oh and I almost got beaten by Keeno_UK`s 9 year old brother in a 4 player race, but he had a car with about tripple the horsepower that I had (Lotus elise vs chevvy montie carlo)

Got up to the Lola championship :)
Finally!
I can definitely see the handling improving.
I managed to get the sick koensig (or whatever its called) ferrari car its amazing!
Is there anything faster than that?

i have access to the elite champs now so im off to race !!! :)

Lola is actually quite a fun championship, although I won the Fuji Race by a hares length. That viper that nick landers drives makes my supra look like a weenie. Although I can still outdrive him 😈
