Ooooooooo-kay.

[Less than subtle mode]

Wikipedia

oooo, i c. what i mean by street racing is the vintage race we have once a year here, MGs and mustangs and that sort of thing. its not road racing, its legal street racing. they close the streets down for 3 or 4 days and let guys race.

That is road racing - where public roads are used and officially closed down for the purposes of racing cars/bikes/people/badgers/whatever. Street racing is the kind where public roads are used but not officially closed down.

It is also. Sometimes roadracing is done on a dedicated, purpose-built road course (Watkins Glen, Sears Point, Laguna Seca, Road America, etc.) or it may be temporarily set up on public streets (various CART/ALMS events, usually named after the home city). These are still considered roadracing. It is confusing, definitely.

Streetracing is illegal, unsanctioned amateurs with minimal or no safety protection for drivers, cars, bystanders, or innocent public. Bad news.

o, like the st peters burgh indy car race compared to my sisters ex totaling my ucals 911 in st ptet, right, now back on tp[ic with the cugar. is it a good start?

so basicly your all saying find an old ugly beater. the problem with that is every one around here has one. in i found hte pefect engine, 2.2 ecotech.

Then buy a good looking beater. Also, buy a A) 240 B) W124 C) Some sort of Plastic pod or D) Ride a bike.

im not thinking road racing, more like drag and street racing. and a daily driver in high school

Just get an old beater.

Seriously, it's your first car. Do not attempt to go racing until you actually have several years of driving experience. Otherwise, you will probably kill yourself.

And quite looking at such old cars. Old, rare cars are expensive for a reason. They are in very good condition and are hard to find. Much like that $500-800 MG, the price should be a red flag. If you can afford a Cougar or an MG at 15 years old, that means you soon won't be able to afford to keep it running, because it will most likely be a money-draining pile of crap that will spend more time in your garage then on the pavement. And you have better thing to do during high school then trying to keep a car running.
